  • "We had a fine stay at Barrow Mead cottage, starting with a warm welcome from the owners."

The cottage is well located on the edge of Bath, it’s location close to the park-and-ride especially noteworthy. All in all, strongly recommended.

    Mrs TurnerSep 2021

  • "A warm and friendly welcome to a delightful cottage."

Excellent location -rural feel but close to amenities and a short drive to the city of Bath.

    Mr FranklinAug 2021

  • "The property is in an excellent location, only about 10 minute drive into Bath which is a very beautiful little city with plenty to see."

We also visited Bristol twice which is about 10 miles away. Once in the cottage you wouldn't think you were so close to town as it was very quiet and surrounded by fields. The cottage itself was very well equipped with everything we could possibly need. The owner was very welcoming and friendly, we were greeted with local apple juice and eggs from his chicken on our arrival which was lovely. However this may not be the property for you if you are very afraid of spiders as lots seemed to find their way in, especially upstairs!

    Mrs JonesJul 2021

  • "The owners of the property lived in an adjacent property and were very friendly."

The welcome hamper was very nice and was much appreciated. The property was in a lovely rural location but very close to the centre of Bath.

  • "Delightful cottage."

Despite the summary on the Sykes site, it is still astonishing that the place can be so close to a busy road in a city and yet feel so remote. From the sunny window upstairs the views across the countryside give no indication of the metropolis nearby. Can't hear it either. Park & Ride is just a few minutes drive away and free to use for us ancients with concessionary pass. There are pleasant walks from the cottage and the owners are very friendly and helpful. Perfect.

  • "Absolutely amazing experience for a short space of time we had (weekend)."

I could easily stay here for weeks. Such peaceful place with full of nature and scenic surroundings. Best of all was the host, Matt who accommodated us in the best way. Even let us use his BBQ to make the day even better. Definitely planning on visiting again. Amazing place. Thank you Matt!

  • "Fabulous location."

Peaceful silent and only a few minutes away from the center of Bath

    Mr HoedemakerJul 2020

  • "We enjoyed our anniversary weekend in this lovely house celebrating with another couple, location was great, nice walks and used park and ride for the Bath Christmas market, if we could recommend anything would only be that mirrors are needed in the bathroom and both bedrooms, impossible to dry hair without one!"

The landlord was so kind and coperative. The house is very nice and a wonderful place to relax. Matt was very kind and would always meet us while smile on his face. I would 100% recommend this place for stay while in Bath. It is not very far from Bath Centre and very easily accessible on the Bus. Wonderful place will definitely book it again when in Bath next time”

    Mr N

  • "We had a wonderful time here, very close to Bath centre, but also the beautiful countryside."

    Best of both worlds!

  • "We loved our stay at the barrowmead cottage."

We wish it could have been longer. The location and the view was excellent. Matt and Louise were great hosts. The house was really cute and cosy. The fire place was all setup and ready to go. So was the kitchen, with a cute basket full of goodies. Even though it's well connected to the city, once you are in the property it feels you are amongst nature. We would love to visit and stay there again. :) Mr Sen, May 2017.

  • "Everything was of a very high standard"

    Mr Grant

We will definitely recommend the cottage to friends and hope to come back ourselves as it is an excellent base for exploring around Bath. A really lovely, comfy cottage. Thank you!

The Cottage At Barrow Mead!

When we visited this delightful cottage, we couldn't believe it is where it is and that you are actually IN Bath, well actually you're not, it's just that you are near the centre but you look out across open countryside!!

As you pass through Bath, you suddenly find this little lane running alongside a school approximately 1/2 mile later and you're in the middle of nowhere, overlooking the rolling countryside of the southern Cotswolds.

Hikers, birdwatchers and those in search of peace are just as likely to enjoy this super cottage as are those looking for culture, shops and a gastronomic experience, given its proximity to the heart of Bath, which is just 15 minutes away in the bus or car.

Inside, the open plan ground floor gives a real sense of space which, with the woodburning stove, is just as welcoming and snug in winter as it is cool and inviting in summer.

The private garden area overlooking the orchard and rolling countryside offers a super hideaway, while listening to birdsong.

A little piece of heaven in Bath.
