This is a charming place to stay and is very well thought out. It is very well equipped so you can really enjoy your stay. The owners are very Friendly an are there if you need them and if not you are left in peace. Just opposite to the left is a petrol station and a Costcutters shop that also has a chemist and Post office there too. Just a few steps away is the most amazing Indian restaurant called Spice of Asia. Their have an incredible menu with so any options. The food was perfectly cooked and spiced to perfection. They also do take away meals too. This cottage is perfectly placed to explore Wiltshire. When we were there we visited The railway Museum at Swindon. If you go keep your entrance ticket it will enable you to have free parking at the outlet centre. We went to Lacock Abbey and village, which is where Harry potter was filmed, Then we went to Caen Hill locks where there is a long flight of locks. The other place well worth visiting is Avebury to see the stone circles and visit the village. Nearby is the West Kennet Long Barrow , Sudberry Hill and other amazing sights in the area. We would certainly recommend Staying here. There is a lot to do in the area and we will be

The property

Lyneham 0.4 miles.

A delightful, self-contained, single-storey wing of the owners’ Grade ll listed former farmhouse, tucked away close to the centre of the North Wiltshire village of Lyneham, on the southern end of the Cotswolds and only four miles from Royal Wootton Bassett.

Once a cart shed for the farm, this delightful cottage has been lovingly converted to create a holiday home that’s full of character, with a stunning vaulted and beamed ceiling in the open plan living space.

The living area features a well-equipped kitchen, which provides you with all you need for a great self-catering experience, but if you wish to treat yourselves, then one of the village pubs serving good local food and real ales is just a short stroll across the road.

Then afterwards return to your cosy retreat, where you can enjoy a DVD snuggled up with your loved one, then retire to the comfy and warm bedroom which also benefits from a TV, to rest before another busy day exploring this part of Wiltshire.

Next morning, enjoy refreshments outside on your own private patio, while you decide what to do or where to visit.

Take a drive into nearby Royal Wootton Bassett, where the weekly market offers an array of colourful stalls selling everything from locally-produced fruit, vegetables and meat products, to household goods.

Visit the beautiful Lydiard Country Park, with its 260 acres of stunning grounds, and shopaholics and steam railway enthusiasts will enjoy Swindon's McArthur Glen Designer Outlet and steam museum, both housed in the old Great Western Railway works.

Easy transport links also take you to the historic town of Malmesbury, picturesque Castle Combe, the beautiful city of Bath, the Avebury Stone Circle, the Cotswold Water Park, and Lacock Abbey.

About the location

LYNEHAM

Royal Wootton Bassett 4 miles; Calne 6; Chippenham 9.5 miles.

The large village of Lyneham is situated at the southern end of the Cotswold Hills, in rural northern Wiltshire, close to the border with Gloucestershire. Lyneham is probably best remembered as the base of the RAF’s Hercules fleet; the base was closed in 2012 and now hosts a Defence Training College. The village is well served by local businesses, including restaurants, pubs and shops, whilst the larger community of Royal Wootton Bassett is just 4 miles away. The friendly market town of Wootton Bassett was granted Royal patronage in 2011, due to its link with the repatriation of military personnel who sadly lost their lives serving their country overseas. It boasts a weekly market and also offers a good selection of local shops and inns, and provides an ideal touring base from which to explore the attractions of Wiltshire and beyond. The town is close to the historic Lydiard Park, Bowood and Longleat, with the ancient sites of Avebury and Stonehenge nearby. Visit the charming town of Malmesbury and the Cotswold Water Park, and with the historic cities of Bath, Oxford and Salisbury all easily accessible, makes Lyneham an ideal base at any time of the year.
