  • "What a fantastic property - so unique, so much space and amazing location."

Didn't realise it was dog friendly too, so may very well book a family break in future ! Thank you so much.

Thank you for your feedback. We agree this is a fantastic property and would love to welcome you back with your family! Property Owner

  • "Arlington Mill proved to be a wonderful property to host a family celebration week for 10 adults."

We had everything we needed, the house was warm, comfortable and spacious. Only slight niggle was 3 of the en-suite bathrooms lacked shower screens around baths. This wouldn’t stop us booking again, great location too next to trout farm in picturesque Bibury.

  • "The Accommodation was great - comfortable and great location."

Kitchen was fully equipped. We requested non feather bedding which was ordered on request and were advised that all bedding was changed only to find one of the beds still had a feather duvet. On arrival we found one of the toilets dirty and bins in another not emptied. Another toilet had a powder around the sink and floor. The ground floor appeared to have not been swept properly either. Other than the above we enjoyed our stay and accommodation was great.

We're so very sorry to hear that our housekeepers overlooked one of the feather duvets. We did indeed order all new hypoallergenic bedding after your request for you to use during your stay so it's a shame to hear they did not remove all feathered bedding from the property. We have brought these cleanliness issues to the attention of the housekeeping team. We're glad you were able to enjoy your stay regardless and would love to have you back again in the future, Property Owner

  • "Arlington Mill was an exceptional place to stay."

The house is beautiful and has absolutely everything you could possibly need for a fabulous stay (exceeded all expectations in that regard). We would not hesitate in rebooking. We had a couple of minor issues which preventing me from giving 5 stars e.g., we were not able to check in until 6pm due to deep cleaning, but there were sweet wrappers and lolly sticks under the beds, envelopes from greetings cards under furniture etc, and lots of cobwebs. This was minor stuff as on the whole the house was really clean and tidy but just didn't warrant a 6pm check in. All of the issues were dealt with immediately by the company that look after the mill and didn't detract from our stay.

We're very pleased the Mill was able to exceed your expectations and that you and your party had a lovely stay. Again, we would like to apologise for the oversights with regard to the standards of housekeeping but are pleased to know that you found these issues to be solved satisfactorily. Property Owner

  • "We were delighted with Arlington Mill."

The property is exceptional, and ideally suited for a large group of friends or family. The facilities are superb. The Mill is extremely well furnished and well-equipped. Unsurprisingly, there is a tremendous sense of space. Parking is excellent, and sufficient for at least four cars. Importantly, the location is perfect. The Mill is in the centre of the most beautiful village of Bibury. The proximity of the Trout Farm adds to its richness. Additionally, the property is perfectly positioned for exploring the Cotswolds. Easy trips were made to Cirencester, Cheltenham, Oxford, Broadway, The Slaughters, Bourton-on-the-Water, Chipping Camden and the nearby Roman Villa. It’s a splendid property, and, for all the reasons above, we had a great week. Our highest compliments to the owner and Manor Cottages.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your lovely comments on Arlington Mill! Property Owner

  • "Beautiful property, well maintained and furnished."

There was everything we needed to cook and everyone slept very well. There was 2 dogs and 2 children along with 5 adults in the property and there was plenty of space for everyone. The only thing we noticed was a slight musty smell on sofa’s downstairs and in the upside lounge. Bins were full when we arrived and not emptied on day stated.

Thank you for your feedback, we will look into the musty smell on the sofa's. We apologise that the bins were not emptied when stated, we were in the process of changing collection companies. We are pleased to hear you had plenty of space and we do agree it is a beautiful property in an amazing location. Property Owner

  • "Superb accommodation for our large group of 9 including 3 children."

Bibury, being such a popular village with tourists it was great having car parking off the street. One suggestion to you and the owners is, that it would be a huge benefit to have an additional television in the downstairs living area so that children/adults can have their own space when the weather is inclement, as was the case for the first week or so of our stay especially in winter. Other than that observation, it was fabulous in every way

  • "This is a fabulous place to stay!"

! Would thoroughly recommend a stay in this beautiful old building. It completely exceeded all expectations. Every need was catered for. Only downside was the early check out on our last day which we were told could not be amended without paying for an extra day. Even though online the house was showing as not booked..

Thank you for your lovely comments on Arlington Mill, we are glad you have a fabulous stay. We are sorry on this occasion that a late check out could not be accommodated. However in the future please check with the local office,as each request is dealt with on an individual basis. Property Owner

  • "We very much appreciated the quality of furniture, facilities, bed/bedding etc."

    - it seemed that no expense was spared; much appreciated. The welcome pack was very useful as it allowed us to 'bed in' prior to a trip to Tesco in Cirencester. We were also grateful for a later check-out as with 10 people, it could have been problematic. All in all, a stress-free experience and we would certainly recommend this for large parties who wish to spend time and eat together.

We are very happy you enjoyed Arlington Mill. Thank you for your feedback. Property Owner

  • "Really good area to stay and the house suited our large group of adults."

The kitchen is very well equipped and we were able to do plenty of cooking. The staff were very helpful. The sitting areas worked well and the dining table large enough. Everything was clean and tidy on our arrival. We appreciated the ‘welcome’ food items. We hadn’t realised that the top shower room is a wet room and hadn’t appreciated quite how low the beams are in two of the bedrooms. There is plenty of space to fit five cars in but getting them in and out of the spaces is tight. Overall a good place to let.

Many thanks for your feedback, and we are glad you enjoyed your stay.We have now updated the website to state that it is a 'wet room' on the third floor and some of the bedrooms have low beams. Property Owner

Tried to leave it tidy but will have failed with putting things back in the right cupboards in the kitchen!! Only comment was the glasses were a little bit murky - needed polishing

  • "As a group of golfers we would have liked better showers."

One cabinet and one wet room which was not perfect. The other three were just hand held showers without even a wall hook. That could be considered. Great week though.

  • "The Mill was fantastic, beautiful bedrooms, lounges and huge kitchen."

Great to have two fridge and freezers, especially when we were celebrating two big birthdays and had lots of food and drink. It was very well equipped. We were surprised at how touristy the area was with coaches out the front of the property all the time and lots of people taking pictures of the Mill. The back of the property was good with space to sit out in the good weather, out of view of the tourists. Lovely village. My only complaint was that the rental doesn't start until 4.00pm and we had to be out of the property by 10.00am so we only had 1 full day and some time on the other two days. I do understand that the property has to be cleaned for the next arrivals but the 10.00am departure does seem very early to have to be out, especially when there was 11 of us.

The property

Dating back to the Doomsday Book, Arlington Mill is both historic and iconic and for the first time ever - you can stay in this outstanding property!

Set in the heart of Bibury and with the original wheels and old machinery visually preserved but not working, guests will feel surrounded by a unique atmosphere that is rare to experience.

Once upon a time this is where corn from around the Cotswolds was brought and milled for consumption - it's real history!

Today, this vast building set across four floors offers wonderful self catering accommodation for up 13 guests.

There are two Living Rooms, each enormous, a smart kitchen and then across the floors are five bedrooms and five bathrooms.

It's immaculate in presentation and very clean and we feel an ideal place for groups to get together and relax completely.

Within, literally, 2 mins walk are two pubs - each serving food so it couldn't be better for a completely relaxed weekend or holiday.

The kids will love it, as the Bibury Trout Farm is next door across the river from where you can catch a fish within about 1 min of fishing!

The trout farm has a decent general shop that you will find very convenient during your stay.

For many reasons, this is an excellent choice for families or for friends, and for many reasons we think that you will return once you have stayed.

We love it! If additional accommodation is required, then The Snug at Arlington Mill (1022077) can be booked as well providing, additional accommodation for 2 further guests.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £500.

About the location

BIBURY

Burford 9 miles; Bourton-on-the-Water 10 miles.

William Morris called Bibury ‘the most beautiful village in England” and today it is world famous as a village which best epitomises the English rural scene. At its centre is an outstanding Saxon church. So important is the village architecturally that the National Trust is closely involved in its preservation - Arlington Row, a row of weavers cottages was restored by the Trust in the 1970s and its distinctive roofline and gables are one of the most photographed scenes in the Cotswolds. The village has a selection of shops, pubs and tea rooms and a wider range of amenities are available in the nearby market town of Burford “Gateway to the Cotswolds”.
