  • "Wonderful property in a delightful setting, the pictures where very accurate and showed the property as it is, I stayed in the top room which could have had something to put luggage on as apart from good hanging facilities I had to have cloth over the floor."

But kitchen well equipped, nice and warm, we had twelve quests 10 chairs round the table not a problem as extra chairs in the kitchen, overall a fantastic venue very well done.

Thank you for this lovely review. We're delighted you enjoyed your stay and thank you also for your suggestions regarding storage which we have passed on to the Property Manager. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

The mill is stunning, extremely spacious, very well equipped, ideal location in a beautiful area. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their weekend and wants to return. P.S. If there was a folder, we never found it.

  • "Cleanliness of the outside of the house - patio area at the back and the front entrance were not as you would expect."

Patio area was reported on first evening and never cleaned up inspite of being assured it would. Front gravel area full of weeds and not in keeping with the rest of the house. Items such as food mixer not working and extraction hood lamps out were reported and yet again were not attended to. The house itself was clean and accommodation first class - Bibury is a busy place!

Thank you for your comments. We are sorry we were unable to resolve the issues during your stay. The outside areas were reported to the owner. Maintenance did attend, but needed to order parts. Unfortunately, these did not arrive before the end of your stay. Everything will be rectified as soon as possible. We hope you enjoyed exploring the local area. • "We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Arlington Mill."

It was beautiful and amazingly well-kept. The size was fantastic for our group of 11 and brilliant for having dinners together. The location was perfect - a two-minute walk to the local pub and next door to a place that does great coffee and breakfasts. Communication with Sykes and the owner of the accommodation was prompt and helpful. Highly recommended!

Thank you so much for your lovely review Dr E - We are delighted that you had a wonderful stay, and you found all the delights of the local area! We very much hope to see you another time! Best regards, the owner of Arlington Mill. Property Owner

  • "A wonderful family three days was spent by us at Arlington Mill."

(There were ten of us). It is an amazing building and is just right for a large family group. There is so much space that everyone was satisfied with their own en suite accommodation. We ate in on two nights, preparing huge banquets in the massive and well-equipped kitchen (two freezers and two fridges!). The Catherine Wheel Inn is a stone's throw up the road and did us proud on one evening. This mill is an amazing place and there is so much to see in the village and surrounding area. It is a delightful part of the Cotswolds. Just one or two minor gripes. When using previous rented accommodation we have usually had a TV set in the bedrooms. Arlington Mill does not, though we were probably too tired to bother, anyway! The TV in the lounge appears only to receive programmes via Sky as Freeview failed to pick up any signal. The soundbar failed to switch on and is very precariously attached to the set. I am familiar with the model and it seemed to be inverted? We tried everything to get it into action, but it seemed dead. We brought DVD's with us for the grandchildren but were unable to use them as the player was not connected to the set and the leads appeared to be missing. The heating system is quite complex and not to be messed with! The timer appeared to be incorrectly set though we were frightened to fiddle with it and left it well alone! In leaving it as it was the heating seemed to come on very late in the evening and hardly at all in the morning when we were getting up. The master bedroom, however, was always warm. As a result, we had to purchase heaps of logs and used the very efficient log burner to heat the dinning and associated lounge area where we spent most of our time. These are only minor gripes about a holiday let which is second to none. It certainly has the 'wow factor' and is well worth the money. Congratulations to the owners who have done a great restoration job on what is a wonderful old building of some significance.

The property

Dating back to the Doomsday Book, Arlington Mill is both historic and iconic and for the first time ever - you can stay in this outstanding property!

Set in the heart of Bibury and with the original wheels and old machinery visually preserved but not working, guests will feel surrounded by a unique atmosphere that is rare to experience.

Once upon a time this is where corn from around the Cotswolds was brought and milled for consumption - it's real history!

Today, this vast building set across four floors offers wonderful self catering accommodation for up 13 guests.

There are two Living Rooms, each enormous, a smart kitchen and then across the floors are five bedrooms and five bathrooms.

It's immaculate in presentation and very clean and we feel an ideal place for groups to get together and relax completely.

Within, literally, 2 mins walk are two pubs - each serving food so it couldn't be better for a completely relaxed weekend or holiday.

The kids will love it, as the Bibury Trout Farm is next door across the river from where you can catch a fish within about 1 min of fishing!

The trout farm has a decent general shop that you will find very convenient during your stay.

For many reasons, this is an excellent choice for families or for friends, and for many reasons we think that you will return once you have stayed.

We love it!

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £500.

About the location

BIBURY

Burford 9 miles; Bourton-on-the-Water 10 miles.

William Morris called Bibury ‘the most beautiful village in England” and today it is world famous as a village which best epitomises the English rural scene. At its centre is an outstanding Saxon church. So important is the village architecturally that the National Trust is closely involved in its preservation - Arlington Row, a row of weavers cottages was restored by the Trust in the 1970s and its distinctive roofline and gables are one of the most photographed scenes in the Cotswolds. The village has a selection of shops, pubs and tea rooms and a wider range of amenities are available in the nearby market town of Burford “Gateway to the Cotswolds”.
