  • "We had a wonderful stay at the Snug at Arlington Mill."

Location was perfect and the accommodation was accurately represented on the website (cosy and clean). If I had to mention one (small) gripe it's that the kitchen smelt a bit musty but I appreciate this is because it is in the basement, and it was nothing that a scented candle didn't resolve. I would definitely recommend this accommodation.

Thank you for providing us with your feedback. We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and your comments regarding the kitchen will be passed onto the owner. We hope to welcome you back any time in the future. Property Owner

  • "Thank you very much for a lovely stay overall!"

The cottage was great, as described. It was kind of Manor Cottages to allow us to check in a bit earlier at 4pm as we were travelling with a young toddler, and 6pm was going to be rather late, so thank you for arranging it. I gave a lower rating on Facilities as we did not have any toilet rolls. We messaged Manor Cottages who said housekeeping would be able to bring around some later that day (hence we didn’t buy any during the day) only to find the toilet paper was still missing. We ended up using up all our packet tissues and then eventually buying our own when we headed to Cirencester on the last day (Bibury had no shops by the way so do arrive prepared).

We're happy to hear you enjoyed your time at The Snug! We're so sorry for the mix up with housekeeping and hope your stay wasn't overly impacted by this issue. Housekeeping will ensure this does not happen in future. We'd really love to welcome you back one day! Property Owner

The accommodation was superb. The kitchen in particular was well equipped and spacious, the Wi-Fi was excellent and the bedroom and sitting room were clean and comfortable.

  • "Was really an exellent place to stay."

Well located right in the centre of bribury right by the trout fish farm. Set across 3 floors all beautiful decorated and furnished. The kitchen was well stocked with good utensils and appliances and they were some really nice touches including milk in the fridge, a bag of treats and things for the dog and TV with lots of streaming Netflix amazon etc for free. Really can't recommend this place highly enough.

It sounds as though you had a fantastic stay! Thank you for providing us with your feedback. You're always welcome to return! Property Owner

  • "We absolutely loved the Snug."

The location is amazing and the cottage was very comfortable. There were only two issues, the first is the check in time, in winter 6pm is pitch black and cold. Negotiating the gate and parking space was really difficult under these conditions. An earlier check in or an outside light left on/motion activated, would have been lovely. Secondly there is a huge gap at the top of the front door which made the hallway very cold. We also didn’t realise the shower bath had a limited hot water supply, a steer on that in a more prominent place than the welcome pack would have been helpful - like the message cards in the kitchen. Otherwise we had a wonderfully relaxing stay. Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a constructive feedback, we are delighted you enjoyed your stay and looking forward to welcoming you again, we will inform the owner of your recommendations. Property Owner

  • "The Snug had everything you needed which made for an enjoyable stay."

Very clean and comfortable. Perfect location. Only thing I would say is there is no outdoor space if you have a dog. Also a mirror in the bedroom is needed to dry your hair.

  • "We had a lovely weekend staying at the Snug."

The house was well laid out and very well decorated and furnished. Everything provided (crockery, bedding etc) was very good quality. We were able to park our car on site, and the outside area was also gated and walled to make it very safe for our dog. The house provided a really comfortable base to explore both Bibury and beyond!

  • "Superb little place for 2 people, very well equipped and comfortable."

A great location with lots of walking to explore the area. Only problem is lack of outside space which did not meet the description in our opinion.

Thank you for feeding back on your stay at The Snug. We're so pleased that the cottage was perfect for you and that you had a lovely time exploring the local area! You're thoughts on the outside space have been taken onboard and are much appreciated. We look forward to having you back again one day! Property Owner

  • "We have just returned from a wonderful week at The Snug."

Beautiful accommodation and spotlessly clean certainly had no concerns about cleanliness in the current situation. Our only slight negative is there isn’t enough hot water to fill the bath only enough for quarter to half full but really everything else was just perfect and would definitely recommend.

Thank you for such lovely comments, The Snug really is a super cottage! Property Owner

  • "Nice cottage with everything you could need, especially in the kitchen."

Only thing that bothered me was the amount of creepy crawlies- I understand it’s a very old property so gaps in the wood would bring in wood lice etc. But there were some cobwebs with spiders which could have been cleaned. Another negative was that I was told there was a patio area to sit. The door was blocked with cleaning equipment and hidden behind a curtain and there were no chairs or table to have been able to relax outside which is a shame. Overall it is a lovely property and we enjoyed our stay but a few tweaks would have made it a lot better.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologise that you were given incorrect information regarding the outside space. We will also raise the cobwebs etc with the house keepers. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was beautifully presented with fantastic facilities!"

And location was perfect as the rest of our family were staying in the main mill house. However, only downside to the cottage.. It was Freezing in there!!!! The heaters warmed up fairly quickly once you put them on but the whole place just felt a little damp with the cold! Especially when compared with the mill house which was a perfectly comfortable temperature at all times. We would definitely stay again but maybe not till the summer

Thank you so much for your feedback. Huge apologies that the cottage wasn't warm for your arrival. We will make sure that the temperature will be set to a comfortable setting for all future bookings. Manor Cottages Property Owner

The property

The Snug is part of the iconic and historic Arlington Mill, situated in the heart of what is considered by many (including William Morris - the textile designer and leading light in the Arts and Crafts movement) to be the most beautiful village in England.

Although the building oozes history, it has been completely refurbished by its current owner to provide a warm and welcoming contemporary accommodation for two guests immersed within these stunning settings.

Spread out over three floors, every requirement has been considered - whether it be dining in the superbly appointed open-plan kitchen/diner on the ground floor, relaxing in the glorious first floor lounge, or enjoying a lazy Sunday lie-in in one of the second floor bedrooms.

If you fancy a few carefree days, then your culinary requirements will be well catered for at either of the two pubs in the village, both just a short walk from the cottage.

If you fancy a morning coffee or afternoon tea, then look no further than the trout farm, located immediately next door to the mill.

Also on your doorstep is one of the most photographed scenes in The Cotswolds - Arlington Row, located less than 400 yards from your front door.

Due to your rural location, you are well-placed for accessing some lovely country paths for walking and cycling opportunities, whilst the nearby rivers and lakes provide the chance for some watersports.

Make sure you visit the nearby town of Cirencester for an abundance of tourist attractions including Cirencester Park, Corinium Museum and New Brewery Arts.

The Snug makes a delightful base for your retreat to the Cotswolds.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.

About the location

Burford 9 miles; Bourton-on-the-Water 10 miles.

William Morris called Bibury ‘the most beautiful village in England” and today it is world famous as a village which best epitomises the English rural scene. At its centre is an outstanding Saxon church. So important is the village architecturally that the National Trust is closely involved in its preservation - Arlington Row, a row of weavers cottages was restored by the Trust in the 1970s and its distinctive roofline and gables are one of the most photographed scenes in the Cotswolds. The village has a selection of shops, pubs and tea rooms and a wider range of amenities are available in the nearby market town of Burford “Gateway to the Cotswolds”.
