  • "We had a lovely stay at Home View."

The location is perfect for exploring the Forest of Dean and walks along the river Wye. The property was ideal for the two of us and its in a nice quiet location.

The views from the conservatory are fantastic and we enjoyed sitting and watching the birds! The cottage was clean and comfortable with everything we needed for our stay.

  • "We had a great short break here, the bungalow which was easy to find had everything we needed."

It was central to the area we wanted to visit after going to Puzzlewood which was our main reason for the trip. We enjoyed having breakfast in the conservatory, loving the distant views and the well maintained garden. The owners mother next door was lovely to chat to and discussing places to go. We both wish it could have been a longer stay and would definately recommend.

  • "Home View is a lovely bungalow, a real home from home, set in a beautiful location."

There are pubs and shops a short walk away and Coleford is a five minute drive if you need a supermarket. Home View was the perfect base for our mountain biking holiday, as the cycling trails at Cannop are only a ten minute ride away. The bike storage at the property is sufficient for two adult bikes. Marie greeted us when we arrived and just before we left. She was friendly but left us to enjoy our holiday. I would book this accommodation again for another holiday in the Forest of Dean.

Shops and pubs are within walking distance. Berry Hill is an excellent base for exploring the Forest of Dean and for making longer trips into Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Wales. In all, this home is an excellent choice for a holiday in this part of the world - we certainly enjoyed it!

  • "Perfect place to spend a holiday."

The cottage was very cosy and homely with superb views over the hills. Location ideal for investigating the surrounding area. A clock in the living room would be very useful but otherwise we would be delighted to return to this place. The owners next door were very helpful from the moment we arrived. Absolutely not disappointed.

  • "In the description of how to get there."

..the cottage was said to be on the left opposite a field. The field is actually a housing development of big houses which dwarf "Home View" which is a bungalow. So, the sitting room in Home View is overlooked by these new houses. One felt somewhat hemmed in on arrival. The back view isn't fields as some reviewer said but back gardens albeit nicely kept. However, the cottage was so comfortable and well equipped (a tea-pot which poured well and a tea cosy!) and, the owners parents next door were so kind and friendly, that despite our first impressions , we had a lovely week and would return again.

  • "This cosy cottage is set in a lovely part of the counrty easily accessible to the surrounding countryside."

The neighbours are very helpful any problems you can rely on them to help out. The house has most things you need. The electric storage heating obviously doesn't provide instant heat, so could be a problem if that's what is needed and one of the single bedrooms doesn't have heating in it. We didn't need heating as it was warm enough but could be a problem in colder weather.

  • "Our elderly relatives found the overnight storage heating challenging (too hot with it on, but chilly without it), the shower complicated to use and were overwhelmed by the number of remote controls so never did get the television to work."

Perhaps next time we would mention that they needed some support and guidance on arrival. They are so old school and did not want to be a nuisance so not really the fault of the cottage owner, but they did not have the comfortable stay we had hoped for. Was the shower brand new because when I first found the cottage on line it mentioned choice of bath or shower and this was a criteria for choosing it as my sister in law does not do showers?
