  • "We found the cottage a bit puzzling to locate, as Parragate Road has several parts to it & the cottage is actually located on "Parragate", a spur off!"

However, it was well worth finding! We thought the cottage was delightful, with all the modern conveniences whilst retaining its historic character. The enclosed garden & double parking space was especially appreciated and Lidl just a 5 minute walk away was a bonus. Cinderford is such a great location, with friendly locals and the beautiful Forest of Dean on the doorstep.

Thank you for the feedback. I am disappointed with the score as I thought you loved it and I strive to achieve 5* with everything Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage, very clean with all home comforts & some much appreciated extras including homemade Marmalade- yummy."

The Forest is literally a couple of minutes walk up the road which was very handy for walking the dog. Lidl just two minutes up the road or through the town for Tesco. Lots of lovely walks a short drive away, we walked over 60 miles in total - fab! Not much choice within easy walking distance for a bite to eat which was surprising considering the size of Cinderford, the Curry Leaf was excellent, the White Hart Inn was good but a bit more of a hike especially in the dark and cold but this should not be seen as a negative reflection on the cottage but means you may need to think ahead whether you want to cater for your own meals or prefer to eat out. The chippy at the top.of the town was very good and extremely generous portions. Thanks for a lovely stay.

  • "This was the second stay in 2 years."

We could see that the owner had acted on our previous suggestion to replace the old TV and we really appreciated it because the weather wasn't great. My partner took frying pans and kitchen knives but didn't need them as everything was top notch- most people don't think to provide good kitchenware but Nicola gets bonus points for everything. The bedrooms were cool and comfortable and the shower was lovely. Many thanks for the thoughtful welcome pack. The washing machine, and clothes line were an absolute bonus as well as the totally enclosed yard for our dog. It was nice to be near a supermarket and some good takeaways. It was really great to have safe parking for 2 vehicles. Since last year I have developed a knee problem which I didn't think was much of an issue but the 5 steps down to the property that have no hand rail and the very steep, narrow stairs to the bedrooms and upstairs toilet and bathroom mean that we may not be staying again. If you are young, fit and able it won't be an issue but anyone with creaky knees or hips might struggle. The only suggestion we have this year is another single chair for the 4th person staying as it's nice to spread out a bit when watching TV.

Cross over the high street by the Chinese and you are in the forest. Places of interest further afield (Haye in Wye, Hereford etc) are between 20/40 mins away. As for the cottage Nicola really has thought of everything! Bread & butter and homemade marmalade waiting on arrival! Shower v. Good, bed really comfortable. Kitchen, dinning room and living room quite spacious. Garden enclosed and private...perfect for our dog. 5 stars....would definitely recommend!

Everything within the property had been thought of to make this a home from home. The level of cleanliness and décor was exceptional for a holiday rented property, absolutely top marks. The beds were very comfortable and laid with what appeared to to be new excellent quality linin and more than adequate duvets and pillows. In the lounge we found the armchair and sofa to be not as supportive for our backs as we were used to and therefore not to our liking, but accept others may not have a problem with them. The enclosed garden was a safe environment for my dog, which had been first and foremost in my mind when booking. The owner was in touch before we arrived, and the welcome pack was excellent. Thank you. Overall though, it was an excellent holiday home.

As our stay was in December, we were delighted to find the Cottage looking festive with Christmas tree and other decorations - it felt so cosy with the Christmas lights - especially with the cold snap outside! Lovely that the owner messaged us when we had an unexpected snowfall to check we were ok. The cottage was very clean and well equipped with everything you may need - plus 'extras' such as fresh milk, bread, biscuits, homemade marmalade, toiletries, little bits you may need in cupboards. Comfy beds, powerful shower and feels very peaceful and private while being close to town - Lidl only a minute's walk away. Not too far to walk to the woods with our doggie - was great as we didn't have the car for most of our stay. Also, dog bowls, blanket provided means less to take with you and self enclosed garden is ideal for letting dog out. As mentioned in description, stairs can be challenging but we managed to master the 'sideways' walk after a while and it all adds to the quaintness - Would certainly return if we need a refuge again. :)

It really is a home from home and is clearly well cared for, you immediately feel relaxed and able to enjoy your holiday. Other bonuses for us were the parking at the property, the enclosed secure garden for our dog and the excellent central heating/instant hot water. It is so peaceful and quiet, despite being in Cinderford. A new Tesco store has recently opened as well as the Lidl store at the end of the road so no long journeys to stock up, both are easy to walk to. We were delighted to discover how well placed you are for visiting the Forest of Dean (on your doorstep), the Wye Valley - including Chepstow, Monmouth and Ross-on Wye, Gloucester Docks which have been revitalised as well as Lydney Docks currently undergoing redevelopment and well worth a visit for the views and excellent cup of tea!, the Severn Estuary and a bit further a field Hereford and the Malverns, let alone the wide variety of walks - so much to do we will definitely be back.

The owner has spent a lot of time and effort in thinking of all the home comforts so that when we come again next year we know our dog Harry will be safe and happy in the garden-most people forget that small dogs can get under gates or through small holes but this garden is totally safe and it is great to open the door knowing he can be off-lead and free. We have everything we need here and we can't thank the owner enough. A big thank you for the welcome gifts-these have been the most helpful ever. Top marks for cleanliness and comfort. The kitchen is really well equipped so if you want to cook there are pans and dishes for every need. The twin single bed room is very dark and cool and we slept really well. Really loved the shower. Radio much appreciated as was the dining room with table and chairs. Good Butchers, Bakery, Charity shops, takeaways on your doorstep. Very minor point-TV is old-school so you can't stream or screen-cast from your phone and the BT box makes the tv buzz if you are watching programmes from it. One of the single beds -the one nearest the door makes some interesting spring boinging noises! This hasn't put us off booking again though. Countdown begins!

25 Parragate Road was one of the cleanest and most comfortable of the cottages we have stayed in so far. Our only minor points would be the duvets were too thick and heavy for the warmer weather, and the kitchen preparation knives were all serrated and fairly bendy, not good for cutting raw chicken. Otherwise a perfect stay. Thanks.

A real home from home and beautifully decorated and furnished. our two dog were well provided for with towels ,bowels and biscuits. The cottage was that clean you would never of known dogs stayed there. The owner left a little welcome pack of butter, bread, milk and marmalade ( homemade) and all the rooms had fresh flowers. Great area for walking and the little town had plenty of takeaways if you didnt like to cook. some lovely pubs with very nice food and friendly locals made our holiday good even though the weather was rainy all week. An ideal quiet cottage if your looking for some peace and quit. would definitely would stay hear again :)

  • "25 Parragate Road is a lovely cosy cottage."

Very clean. Everything you need is there. The Kitchen is very well equipped, The appliances are quite new and in excellent working order. We did not use the twin room, but it was a lovely light and very good sized room and well equipped with lots of cubboard and hanging wardrobe space. The double room had a very comfortable double size bed. Cosy sitting room with large TV and BT youview box. Ample sized dining room and table with plenty of seating area. Good enclosed garden with a seating area outside. A nice little suntrap when the sun is shining. Location of cottage is great you can get into the Forest of Dean within 10 minutes as the town of Cinderford is the gateway into the Forest which has so many very beautiful walks and lots of things to see and do. You can get anywhere very easy from Cinderford. No distance across the border into Monmouthshire. One hours drive to the Cotswolds. All in all we had a very lovely holiday and would recommend this location and cottage to anyone.

The owner communicates well & listens to feedback. It is well situated for access to the Forest of Dean. I have rented many holiday cottages and there is always a compromise. In this one the stairs are steep and there is no great pub doing food nearby. Everything else is great. The garden is very secure especially if you have a dog. The Cyril Hart arboretum a few miles away is a great place to exercise your dog. I highly recommend this property and would book again without hesitation.

The Forest of Dean and The Wye Valley are great areas to explore and we all enjoyed several long walks. A lovely cottage and a great holiday destination.

It had a very steep staircase which firstly daunted me (as I have Rheumatoid Arthritis) but I quickly got used to it and regarded it as a bit of exercise for my old bones! I'd say this wee cottage isn't small by any means but spacious, clean and extremely well decorated. We were made MORE than welcome on arrival with an abundance of ....ooh...so many things...bread, butter, home made jam, milk, coffee, tea, etc and etc...FRESH flowers throughout the home too....not to mention a full bowl of mandarins as well as a dish of lollies in front of TV. I could go on and on but one needs to experience it to believe it. Would HAVE to be a five star plus home. Many thanks and praises to the owner.

Everything was absolutely what one hopes to get and more besides. The owners left milk, sugar, coffee, tea and more besides. A lovely touch which helped us settle in. Flowers in every room was particularly appreciated by my wife. Each room was very well lit, not always the case in our experience! and everything worked properly. Wi-fi connected in less than 30 seconds and worked smoothly and swiftly throughout. Central heating and hot water was easily adjustable to our needs. The weather was a bit cold for sitting outside but it looked lovely in the back and we look forward to coming again in the summer. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

We were greeted by a hamper of Christmas goodies and all the immediate needs i.e. milk, sugar etc. We always prepare but this was a nice surprise. The cottage itself is in a great location - very quiet and only 200 yds from the High Street. Two car parking too! Everything is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is an added bonus with a great fridge/freezer and dish washer. A washing machine in a separate room - great! We did not bother with the open fire (plenty of logs supplied) but it would be wonderful for children who had never seen one. It would be a great base for the summer holidays.

25 Parragate Road is the first cottage we have rented that accepts pets. We don't have pets and only rented this cottage as we booked only 10 days or so before the holiday. We were very pleased when we arrived at this spotlessly clean cottage. This proved to be one of the best equipped cottages we have stayed at. Nicola, the owner, contacted us beforehand and gave us contact details for any problems, which there weren't. On arrival we found bread, milk, butter, homemade marmalade and fruit as well as flowers in each room. There was ample tea and coffee for our stay as well as basics such as loo rolls and kitchen roll and logs for the fire if we had needed them. Central heating was available and used for chilly mornings. This really was a home from home meaning that when we arrived we did not have to immediately go shopping, as we planned to have an evening meal out. We would wholeheartedly recommend this cottage for the Forest of Dean area, with or without dogs.
