  • "The property was well presented but we had a huge issue with a damp or mold problem wich caused my wife to have an immediate asthma attach such that we had to leave the property and find alternative accommodation."

We tried to air the property but to no effect. We complained to Sykes Cottages but they were unresponsive to telephone calls and email messages. No refund and a very expensive trip was the result....

  • "The cottage is not at all private."

We were aware that it was on the edge of the churchyard but not that at all hours people would be sitting on the benches under the windows and talking, laughing and drinking. When we arrived the radiators were on full and the temperature inside a humid 25. We had to phone up to find out why and how the radiators were on. It was warm out so unnecessary. The oven did not work as someone had turned it off . It took two maintenance men to find this out We were told that the cottage had been checked but clearly the issues with the radiator and oven were not picked up. We are not short people but we could not reach the blind over the sink which was a problem as people passing could look straight into the cottage requiring us to be covered up at all times. I never realised that although I am 5’7””, I have short arms! Lighting is poor. There are lots of lights but the bulbs are so dim it is hard to read at night. Might be ok if you are younger. . Could to work out how to use the tv. There were no instructions. When we did get it to work we could not turn off subtitles. I think this is because there is an all in one remote control rather than the original from the tv.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. The property is located in a central position in the village, near the church and village shop. However, we have not received any comments previously regarding any disturbance, so we think this may be a one off event. Apologies that you experienced issues with the radiators and the oven. The radiators were not running when the property had been checked earlier. We did our best to help you with turning the radiators off and we provided fans for your comfort. We are sorry that we were not able to resolve the issue with the oven as quickly as we would have liked. We did provide a table top oven for you to use in the interim. We will review the kitchen blind, lighting and TV remote instructions. When our maintenance man visited, he helped you with the operation of the remote. We hope you enjoyed the beautiful village of Blockley and exploring the surrounding Costwolds. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "This is a lovely spacious property, comfortable and beautifully furnished."

It has the added convenience of being close to Blockley's café and shop and has a very pleasant outlook onto the Churchyard. However, it has no outside space of its own so although a washing machine is provided, drying clothes was difficult. and having a heated towel rail in the shower room would have been helpful to ensure that towels can dry.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback on your stay. We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your time away and appreciate your comments regarding the drying, as well as your suggestions for improvement. We hope that these did not leave a lasting impact on your stay and that we can welcome you again one day in the future. Best wishes, Manor Cottages. Property Owner

  • "A very attractive stylish property with good quality fixtures and fittings."

The property had been cleaned to a high standard and we appreciated the little touches of milk and biscuits to welcome us on our arrival. A comfortable and spacious flat. On the downside I was disappointed that the property had no designated parking as the photo shown on the website shows what looks like a flat area in front of the property suitable for a car. Please make this clearer on the description of the property. The property is situated in a churchyard and overlooks the graveyard which perhaps again should be made clear. The flat appeared humid/damp and not being able to open a window when in the property did not help help. There is a washing machine but no where to dry the clothes except inside which adds to the feeling of dampness. I had to telephone for the wifi password. Please put this information in the welcome pack. Not everyone knows to use the wireless key for the password. Please add more instructions about the use of the electrical equipment and heating to avoid any mishaps. I would have appreciated a small vacuum cleaner to help keep the rugs clean. No matter how careful you are there will still be small crumbs etc. The instructions for the refuse collection are clear but please change the wording to read refuse and not refuge.

Thank you for your feedback with regard to No.3 The Old Coach House we are pleased to hear that you found the property up to our usual high standard. Sadly, the area to the front of the property as show in the pictures is not accessible for parking as it is the entrance to the churchyard, street parking is however available a short walk from the front door. The WiFi passwords are usually in the property information folder along with the the information for the equipment, we will however look into this issue and ensure that they are all up to date and are in a location easy for guests to find. With regard to the hoover, we do appreciate that there isn't one at the property at the moment and are currently in talks with the owners. With best wishes Character Cottages Property Owner

  • "Our stay in the cottage was pleasant: the cottage is nicely furnished and well equipped, even though it took us some time to get all the appliances to work."

We would have appreciated someone to give us explanations in person on our arrival. For example there was also some humidity and it would have been useful to turn on the heater for a while, but we couldn’t. On the whole the cottage is comfortable, with something to slightly improve.

Thank you for providing us with feedback on your stay at No.3 The Old Coach House. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and we appreciate your suggestions for improvement. These have been taken into consideration and we hope to welcome you again soon. All the best, Character Cottages. Property Owner

  • "Really nice, cosy and well designed cottage!"

Allow me to recommend the following: add the Wifi code in the folder ( I had to call the phone number given in the mail to find out where the code is). In terms of the heating there should perhaps be some instructions. I had to call again in order to ask somebody to come and switch on the heating. In the morning specially it is cold, to shower is a bit awkward. A little extra table ( i.e.to put where the basket with the bath mat is located on right hand side of the bathroom door ) would be appreciated in order to display personal cosmetic items. Ladies would for sure appreciate a magnifying mirror in the bathroom.

Thank you for the feedback. We are thrilled you enjoyed the property. I do apologize you had to keep calling the office. This information should be in the folder. I will ensure these get added. We hope to welcome you back again. Best wishes, Character Cottages Property Owner

Moreton-in-Marsh 3 miles; Bourton-on-the-Water 11 miles; Cheltenham 22 miles.

An ancient village once famous for its silk and corn mills, Blockley lies just 3 miles from Moreton-in-Marsh and features a unique collection of honey-coloured buildings with a pretty village green, two excellent pubs, serving hearty food and real ale, as well as a village store and café, serving dinner on a Friday night. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of the village, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way and the Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close by. Very close by, Moreton-in-Marsh boasts many elegant 18th century buildings and is home to traditional inns, tea rooms, restaurants and individual shops to suit all tastes. It also offers its own train station and lies on the intersection of the Paddington rail line from London.
