  • "Tranquil cottage, beside a charming stream with a 75 meter sunny garden."

The cottage is spotlessly clean and well equipped, we LOVE IT!!

    HughJul 2021

  • "Our stay at Primrose cottage was lovely."

The perfect location for long walks (check out Bourton Woods closeby and surrounding fields), with the sound of the brook outside so calming! The cottage itself is very well equipped, and the fire in the living room a beautiful feature - perfect for a cosy winter afternoon. The bed was one of the best features of the house, we both slept so well the entire 2 weeks we were there - so comfortable and a really lovely bedroom. Due to covid, Maggie was unable to enter the cottage to clean but the easy communication with her meant she could collect our laundry contact free. Highly recommend!

  • "A truly quintessential Cotswold cottage in a beautiful village full of character with a stream running through the garden and past the cottage."

With the log burner fired up in the sitting room, the cosiness is spectacular. Blockley is an amazing little village with a great welcoming feel, chatty locals and a brilliant café and pub. Very much look forward to our next visit!

  • "What a truly perfect stay, my husband and I have fallen in love with this cottage and the village of Blockley."

Everything about primrose cottage is beautifully charming, a true gem of a find. The bed is nothing short of luxurious, something that was not mentioned, with this as well as the sound of water cascading down the brook we found lazy mornings were very easy. The kitchen is fully equipped, the bathroom is beautiful and the bath tub is large. I cannot give it anything less than 5 stars Thank you we will definitely be returning to Blockley and Primrose cottage.

    HeidiOct 2020

  • "A lovely stay at Primrose Cottage in the most stunning location with a lovely brook running through the property."

Good local walks and nice pubs/cafe. Tall people will struggle in the shower! But otherwise everything was well equipped with Laura Ashley furnishings and Robert Welch cutlery - so some nice finishing touches. The bed was SO comfortable and had the best night sleep for a while :) Thank you!

  • "The cottage was lovely and well equipped."

Maybe a bit dark in the winter months as it is situated in the bottom of a valley. Very special with the brook running next to the garden. Lovely countryside and villages nearby like Blockley, Chipping Campden and Broadway. The Batsford Arboretum and the Rollright stones are certainly worth a visit as well.

    GeorgeApr 2019

  • "Primrose Cottage is cosy and peaceful."

Loved hearing the brook and watching the sheep grazing opposite the cottage. Admired the art work - recognised the Tim Nash painting on the painters board as we nearly bought the orchard painting in spring 2016 in the Moreton in Marsh Art Gallery - so lovely to see the painting again! A relaxing stay. Thank you and for the basket of food in the fridge.

The property

Primrose Cottage is a beautiful Grade ll listed, Cotswold stone cottage, which sits peacefully next to a lovely babbling brook, in the picturesque village of Blockley.

The cottage is ideal for a relaxing break for a couple, a small family or small group of friends.

Be welcomed into the characterful sitting room and look forward to snuggling up on the two-seater sofa or armchair, whilst watching a film on the Smart TV, whilst the woodburning stove gently glows the room and creates a warm ambience.

Head into the smart kitchen/diner to create a heart-warming meal using the contemporary facilities, before gathering with your loved ones around the country kitchen table to dig into your meal and uncork a bottle of wine to toast to a wonderful holiday.

Take the conversation outside to catch the last of the evening sun where you can take a seat at the bistro table and enjoy the peaceful garden that has a long stretch of lawn, with stunning views of the hills beyond and the babbling brook that runs adjacent to the property.

Be sure to make use of the charcoal barbecue that is available in summer months!

When night falls, a choice of two elegant bedrooms await upstairs; the master is located on the second-floor in the eaves and enjoys stunning views over the garden, with a wrought iron king-size bed, whilst the second bedroom, located on the first-floor along with the family bathroom, contains a double bed where you can dive into a compelling novel from the selection on offer, before you lay your head to rest for the night.

In the morning, have an awakening rinse in the bath, before getting ready to head out for the day, where you can start in the picturesque village of Blockley which has a country pub, The Great Western Arms, a historic Norman church, Church of St Peter and St Paul, and the popular community owned shop and café which serves delicious food during the day and hosts a couple of dinner evenings too.

Surrounded by wonderful countryside, there are many walks and cycle routes on its doorstep including The Monarch’s Way long distance walking trail which passes through the village and can be followed either north to Chipping Campden or up and over the ridge towards Moreton-in-Marsh, skirting the fringes of Batsford Arboretum which is a 56-acre garden with trees and shrubs from around the world in the plant centre and a café.

At Primrose Cottage, you are close to the bustling market town of Stow-on-the-Wold where you can take a walk around the market square, which is the heart of the community and offers boutique shops, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants, as well as the Farmers’ Market which occurs every second Thursday of each month, featuring inviting local produce.

For a memorable holiday, stay at Primrose Cottage.

About the location

BLOCKLEY

Moreton-in-Marsh 3 miles; Bourton-on-the-Water 11 miles; Cheltenham 22 miles.

An ancient village once famous for its silk and corn mills, Blockley lies just 3 miles from Moreton-in-Marsh and features a unique collection of honey-coloured buildings with a pretty village green, two excellent pubs, serving hearty food and real ale, as well as a village store and café, serving dinner on a Friday night. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of the village, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way and the Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close by. Very close by, Moreton-in-Marsh boasts many elegant 18th century buildings and is home to traditional inns, tea rooms, restaurants and individual shops to suit all tastes. It also offers its own train station and lies on the intersection of the Paddington rail line from London. The town hosts the Moreton-In-Marsh Show, one of the UK's largest one-day agricultural shows, as well as the Moreton Beer Festival, an annual French Market, and a large outdoor market every Tuesday. The highest town in the Cotswolds, this ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. Close by is Bourton-on-the-Water, which lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is known as the Venice of the Cotswolds as the River Windrush runs through the centre. Also within reach is the spa town of Cheltenham, boasting an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, as well as being famous for its horseracing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within driving distance, making Blockley a great base for a Cotswolds holiday.

Note: Blockley is in a valley and guests should be aware that mobile phone reception can be very poor. Note: An initial basket of logs is provided for the woodburning stove from October through to March; guests should purchase their own log supplies locally outside of these months. Note: TV reception is very poor at the property, however the normal online channels such as iPlayer and itv player are all available.
