  • "We had a perfect stay."

Cottage had everything we needed plus the loft area was a bonus. The location felt like we were in the middle of the countryside yet was just a walk into town. Great base for visiting the Cotswolds and the hosts had just the right balance of being visible & helpful without intruding. I would highly recommend this cottage and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

  • "Great stay in a fabulous cottage within lovely surroundings."

Thanks so much for the wine, cheese and crackers. Would recommend Burford, Broadway and the Bakery on the water in Bourton. And the Rose Tree Restaurant for an evening meal.

  • "Excellent accommodation, perfect location."

Short walk to local nature reserve. Bourton-on-the-Water is less than 10 minutes walk. Sit in the upstairs viewing area to watch flocks of birds dancing at dusk, and the sunrise in the mornings.

  • "This is a fabulous house in a great spot with everything you need within walking distance."

A ten minute walk takes you right into the middle of Bourton. Brilliant for children who loved the mezzanine space and effectively claimed it as their play area.

The cottage itself is very comfortable and has everything you need. The beds were sooo comfortable and the curtains made the room lovely and dark. We slept better here than we have at home in a while! The hosts are delightful and made a point of stopping by to welcome us. We’ll be back!

House has everything you could need and great mezzanine to play board games, read or just look out across the grassy paddocks. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, excellent communication and hospitality lending us additional cooking equipment. Highly recommend and will be back.

  • "This place is amazing."

It is the perfect slice of property, you get the quite country isolation but still have all the conveniences only a 1 minute drive away. It is tucked away in the perfect spot. Not only was the house amazing, the hosts were very sweet and came to check in on us. The check in/checkout process was a breeze and the parking situation was perfect. This is the perfect place for a small family of 4– maybe even 2 older kids and a baby. The pictures are 100% accurate. This is exactly what you get down to the decor. Believe when I say, this place is worth it. You get so much more than what the ad shows, and you’ll absolutely adore your stay.

Cleanliness, information, parking, amenities, value for money - all spot on! If you ever wanted an excellent stay in the Cotswolds, stay here. Thank you for a perfect weekend.

  • "Great , beyond expectations!"

The central location of Burton-on-the-water can be reached in 5-10 minutes from the property. The kitchen is small, but all amenities are available. The bathroom has shower gel and shampoo, conditioner. The bedroom bed is comfortable. The surrounding scenery is very beautiful, in addition to the farm, there is a dog-walking special site. The dogs here are very cute. The hosts are warm and friendly, thank you very much. Very recommend.

  • "Great house in a great area!"

There are plenty of walks surrounding the property and the beautiful town is only 10 minutes away which has plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants to enjoy. There is also a big co-op about a 5 minute walk away which is also very handy. While we were staying we also took a trip to Stow on the Wold which around a 10 minute drive and also a really great town and worth visiting. Overall we had a really great time and would recommend this property if you want a relaxing stay in the Cotswolds.

  • "Many thanks to Tishy and Richard for a wonderful stay in the Cotswolds."

They were perfect hosts and very generous in allowing our two young boys to spend time playing with their dogs. The cottage was immaculate, full of character and well located for exploring Bourton-on-the-Water and the surrounding area. The town itself and closest supermarket were only a short walk away, and it was great having a number of nature (and farm) trails on our doorstep. It was fun exploring the beautiful countryside and we loved staying there. Both Richard and Tishy shared their local knowledge and provided excellent information on things to do and places to eat. They were also very helpful and responsive. I would thoroughly recommend this property for family stays - it was a highlight of our trip to the UK.

  • "We've only just left Bury Fields Cottage but already we're looking forward to another visit!"

Not only is the cottage beautiful - light, warm, comfortable and well-equipped, but also the setting is perfect, with walks galore and things nearby to interest people of all ages and tastes. The friendly owners are on hand to offer tips yet completely unobtrusive. We had a wonderful family stay with lots of activities that the children loved, but are looking forward to visiting again for a child-free weekend of long walks and cosy dinners. It's hard to imagine a nicer cottage or better location.

    AngelaApr 2019

  • "We loved staying here with our two children."

Bury Fields Cottage is in a great location felt very relaxed and peaceful. The decor is lovely and stylish. We enjoyed relaxing in the den and found the kitchen well equipped. Richard and Tishy were very welcoming- thank you for the cheese, biscuits and wine! It is definitely in our top three Airbnbs. Bourton on the Water is a great place to visit and we also enjoyed The Broadway Tower and Cotswolds Animal Park. Looking forward to another visit.

    GavinMar 2019

  • "This is a fantastic property set in an excellent position a very short distance from the village and among relatively secluded surroundings."

.. Its very clear that a lot of attention to detail went into this setting up this property from the design/layout to the fixtures and fittings. The owners (Richard and Tishy, really very nice people) had left some wine/cheese and crackers as a welcome gift, (a very nice touch) and there was milk, tea coffee as well as all manner of essentials in the well kitted out kitchen area (everything was spotless). As its the 21st Century, having high-speed WiFi was really useful, as was the smart TV on a couple of evenings! In summary, I would not hesitate to revisit... The location is perfect as a base to venture out on either walking excursions or to hop in a car (or local bus) and explore them many quaint surrounding villages.

  • "Amazing, luxury cottage in the most superb rural location, just a short walk from the town of Bourton on the Water."

With two young children, when we could get them away from the 'den' in the cottage (an upstairs chill out/play area),we went on lots of country walks (with access to lots of dog walks on your doorstep), including one across the field which takes you to a great farm with things to see for the kids. We enjoyed all that there is to do in Bourton, including the model village, the local swimming pool and even a family hack at the local equestrian centre. Dick and Tishy were so helpful, with chickens that we fed in the mornings. They could not have done more for us. A truly brilliant weekend!

    VickyFeb 2019

About the location

Stow-on-the-Wold 4 miles; Moreton-in-Marsh 8 miles; Chipping Norton 13 miles; Cheltenham 15.5 miles.

Located in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the historic village of Bourton-on-the-Water dates back to Neolithic times with over 100 buildings being Grade II listed or higher. The picturesque high street nestles alongside the River Windrush over which several low stone bridges span, which is why Bourton-on-the-Water is known as the Venice in the Cotswolds. Tradition states that an annual football match is played in the summer, in the River Windrush with the banks lined with spectators, with the aim to score as many goals as possible and get as wet as possible! The village has an eclectic range of visitor attractions, including The Model Village, Cotswold Motor Museum, Birdland Park and Gardens as well as a Dragonfly Maze, monthly farmers’ market as well as many tea rooms, an artisan bakery, antiques and craft markets, traditional sweet shop, cycle hire and its very own perfumery. Nearby, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises traditional England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antiques shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Also take a visit to the medieval town of Burford for a great day out where you can enjoy a trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are both within easy reach and make a great day out. The spa town of Cheltenham is, architecturally, the most complete Regency town in England with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called The City of Dreaming Spires has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also all within easy reach.
