  • "Delightful crockery - but could do with more plates and mugs."

We had some problems with the heating system. Something is needed to explain the controls on the thermostat in the living room. The directions for finding Kate's Cottage are very bad. We understood the statement that it is '7 Victoria Terrace' as meaning that we were looking for a street called Victoria Terrace. It needs to be made clear that the cottage is in Victoria Street, which contains this terrace of eight houses called Victoria Terrace.

Regarding the crockery there should be 6 of everything , this will be addressed if this is not the case. As for the hive heating thermostat we will provide additional instructions. We will also speak to Sykes Cottages to improve the directions to the property for future guests. Thank you for your overall good feedback on Kate’s Cottage and constructive comments. Property Owner

Situated within minutes to centre of village yet on a quiet street. Well equipped with everything you would require. Comfy king size bed. We parked at the front as it was easier to access. Nice touch was the milk and lemon drizzle cake on arrival. Cottage was ideal for what we wanted. Bourton on the water is a lovely place. Should we return we would definitely use Kate's cottage again. We had a lovely holiday.

  • "Great location and well equipped property."

Super clean on arrival and easy access into the property. The decoration although clean could do with a facelift, as wood chip on all walls and ceilings is somewhat out dated. A great plus is being able to park on drive of property. Great quiet location and just a 2min walk to pubs and restaurants in town. The Cotswolds is no doubt a beautiful part of the country with Bourton on the water being my favourite town of them all.

We are pleased you enjoyed your holiday in the Cotswolds. Sorry to hear the woodchip wallpaper was not to your taste but we decided to maintain the property in very good condition in keeping with the cottage style of it’s era. Property Owner

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay."

The property was very nicely furnished. The area was very quiet even though it is only a few minutes to the busy village centre . The information pack and accompanying books about the Cotswold area really help with ideas of where to explore. The cake and milk welcome pack was a lovely touch. They also supplied, coffee, tea, sugar, plenty of toilet rolls, foil, cling film, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid and a selection of cleaning equipment. The supply of these very essential items was not added to the properties details. I think this would be a very welcome addition as it reduces the items you might bring with you at self catering accommodation .

The lounge is large and comfortable, and the kitchen/dining area is well equipped. The main bedroom upstairs has a very comfortable double bed which is a generous size, and the second bedroom is adequate, although we didn’t have need to use it. The various items of equipment were easy to use, and the heating easy to adjust. The village is very pretty, there is a large supermarket about 1/2 mile from the cottage, and very interesting shops in the village. There are plenty of places of interest in the immediate area.

The chest of drawers in the main bedroom had a sticker on it saying faulty do not use this looked like it had been there for a while, all the drawers were collapsed, so there was nowhere to put clothes very unsatisfactory and disappointing the bedside tables were cheap metal garden tables . The toilet seat in the downstairs cloakroom was unstable and moved when sat on. The welcome pack was a packet of chocolate biscuits and a pint of milk, the milk was 5 days out of date!!

Thank you so much for your feedback and I am so very sorry that you had some issues. While the bedside tables are as per the advert picture, I will certainly be discussing the other issues with my management property team now that I have been made aware and will have them rectified immediately. About the location

BOURTON-ON-THE-WATER

Stow-on-the-Wold 4 miles; Moreton-in-Marsh 8 miles; Chipping Norton 13 miles; Cheltenham 15.5 miles.

Located in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the historic village of Bourton-on-the-Water dates back to Neolithic times with over 100 buildings being Grade II listed or higher. The picturesque high street nestles alongside the River Windrush over which several low stone bridges span, which is why Bourton-on-the-Water is known as the Venice in the Cotswolds. Tradition states that an annual football match is played in the summer, in the River Windrush with the banks lined with spectators, with the aim to score as many goals as possible and get as wet as possible! The village has an eclectic range of visitor attractions, including The Model Village, Cotswold Motor Museum, Birdland Park and Gardens as well as a Dragonfly Maze, monthly farmers’ market as well as many tea rooms, an artisan bakery, antiques and craft markets, traditional sweet shop, cycle hire and its very own perfumery. Nearby, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises traditional England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antiques shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Also take a visit to the medieval town of Burford for a great day out where you can enjoy a trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are both within easy reach and make a great day out. The spa town of Cheltenham is, architecturally, the most complete Regency town in England with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called The City of Dreaming Spires has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also all within easy reach.
