  • "A lovely cottage with all we needed."

It’s worth noting that the kitchen door (where the key safe is) is through the gate on the right of the neighbouring cottage as it wasn’t obvious on arrival. The housekeeper is to be commended on the immaculately made beds!

Thank you for your review - we're delighted you enjoyed your stay at Tuesday Cottage. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "Thanks for putting up Christmas decorations, we really enjoyed that, as we were there for the week that Bourton also lights up its tree."

We were slightly confused on arrival about which side of the house to get to the door and keysafe box. Maybe that was us (in the dark too!), but maybe the wording could be tweaked to improve that for others.

Thanks for sharing your feedback. We are pleased that you enjoyed the Christmas decorations and lights in Bourton. You can find the instructions for arrival at the house on emails sent to you prior to your stay. We hope you had a good week. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "Close to downtown Bourton-on-the-Water."

It's a sweet little cottage. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you'll need to prepare meals. Third-floor rooms have very steep stairs but charming and very comfortable. Would rent here again if staying in Bourton. The cottage was very clean. One thing that was a bit of a negative was the construction going on directly on one side of the cottage, making it necessary to pull the blinds on the front and sides of the cottage, which darkened the front room, stairwell, and kitchen. This was not the fault of the cottage management, just happened to be when we were there. One thing to note, Bourton on the Water is VERY crowded in the summer, especially on weekends. It's good to be prepared for that.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are pleased you liked the cottage and its location. We make sure the cottage is well stocked and would welcome you back for sure! We are sorry that you were a little disturbed by building work but we were not informed by the neighbour. We understand its finished now. We hope we can welcome you back again in the future. Best wishes. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage very comfortable and warm."

Only minor issue was limited parking near cottage and possible blocking in by other vehicles

Pleased you found the cottage lovely and comfortable - it is indeed charming. As the cottage is situated by a village green in great proximity to the river if guests do arrive in separate vehicles there is sometimes a minor issue with parking. Bourton has plenty of car parks and as everyone is so friendly there is always an easy resolution. Property Owner

We really enjoyed our time there. The only negative I have is the check in time is quite late and the checkout time really early with no option to pay for early or late checkout. It actually meant we were not even there for a full 48 hours.

Thank you for the amazing feedback about Tuesday Cottage! - We are so proud of the property and very pleased that you all had such a good time. As guest safety is important and in line with guidelines all cottages have extra cleaning. It is always worth contacting the office on the day to see if Housekeeping has finished for an earlier check-in Property Owner

  • "We loved our stay at Tuesday Cottage."

It felt like we stepped right back into history, but with all of the amenities of the 21st century. The location and it’s proximity to the river and businesses was perfect. A warning to Seniors: Two of the bedrooms were on the second floor (3rd to U.S. citizens) and the stairs were narrow. It was especially hard to get suitcases up the stairs. I am a 77 year old and didn’t mind, but the others weren’t so happy. Otherwise, this little cottage was a win-win!

Thanks for the great feedback; especially pleased that you loved the stay and the location. The building is traditional in the area and whilst rails and a rope for the top bedroom assist with access both the listing and photos indicates the nature of the staircase which is a quaint feature of the cottage. Pleased it was all a 'win win' for you overall. Property Owner

  • "Tuesday Cottage is a beautiful cottage in a perfect location."

On the doorstep of the picturesque Bourton-On-The-Water, it still manages to be quiet and peaceful. The interior is characterful with stone walls and interesting staircases leading to different bedrooms. The garden is pretty and great for enjoying breakfast on a sunny morning (we were even joined by a chicken one morning). Step out the door and turn right and you will come to the river that runs through Bourton. Cross over the bridge and you are in a charming English town (be aware, the rest of the world will be here too-it's very busy). As a very last-minute booking, we got a discount, I would not have paid the full price. There was only two of us, which was ideal in the cottage. The place is advertised as being for 5 people, but I think that would be quite a squeeze, the living room is not very big. I think the cottage is most comfortable for up to 3 people but 4 would be okay. The location of the cottage and its character make it well worth a visit, and I would consider staying there again. The Cotswolds is stunning, and I can't wait to return. Lovely cottage, accommodating staff (we needed to contact them a couple of times and they were really helpful and friendly) I would definitely use them again.

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Tuesday Cottage. The location is indeed superb and we are very pleased to hear that you had excellent customer service from Manor Cottages: they are really good! The vibe of the cottage is to provide a traditional Cotswold experience to all guests which can take couples and up to a family of 5; lounge furniture can easily be pushed back for more room. • "What a delightful cottage, right in the heart of Bourton on the water."

As there were just 2 of us, we weren't sure that we could justify the price (as the property is for 5), but we were so glad we booked. The cottage had everything that we needed, was spotlessly clean, and we've never slept so well. It might be a squeeze for 5, but for 2 of us it was perfect. Our only suggestion would be to make it clearer where the key safe is for the property is. It confused everyone!

Thanks for the great feedback. The location of the cottage is indeed perfect being in the heart of the village; good to hear you found it fantastic and was glad you booked. For security the location of the key safe isn't something we advertise but would have been sent out by the agent in advance but will inform agent to ensure future guests know for sure. • "Nice property with all of the features accurately listed."

Location could not be matched, right in the centre of the fabulous town. The main issue is with the property configuration in that the original house has been split to form 3 different properties and while this has been done very well, noise from the adjoining ‘Cosy Cottage’ late into the night did cause significant issues, so much so that we left a day early and checked into a hotel for our last night. Not a lot that the owner can do about somebody else’s property but it could be made clearer to perspective renters that this configuration can cause issues.

Pleased to hear the positive feedback and that you enjoyed the cottage. Sorry to read that you said you had an issue with some noise next door. Both cottages have a welcome pack and good conduct policy. We have investigated. There have been no noise referrals from either cottage ever and nothing was reported with this booking at the time about the two ladies in the neighbours cottage. Feel free to contact Manor Cottages so we can better understand as we strive for everyone to have the best of stays . Property Owner

  • "Tuesday Cottage is a hidden gem in the Cotswolds."

The cottage is situated within a stone throw away from Bourton-on-the-Water, which meant we were able to go on beautiful morning walks and out for food and drinks without the worries of 'how are we going to get home'. Bourton-on-the-Water is the Venice of the UK, with a spectacular river running through the town which the cottage is practically next door to. As you walk out of the front door to the right is one of the famous bridges which crosses the river less than 100m away. The interior of the cottage is everything we imagined, bursting with Cotswolds character and beautiful attention to detail. The cottage was spotlessly clean, providing everything you would need for a home away from home. A fully equipped kitchen with an easy to operate cooker made home cooking easy, we used it a couple of times but highly recommend venturing out into the Bourton-on-the-Water for a bite to eat. The beds were extremely comfy and the bedrooms were filled with character from the Cotswolds stone to wooden beams dating back to the 1600s I believe. The lighting within the cottage was perfect giving it a cosy feel. The bathroom is also a standout to us with the most gorgeous bath, highly recommend a soak in it! We do not have anything bad to say about this adorable cottage. Highly recommend. Thank you.

  • "If the photos are considered as part of the listing, they give a wrong impression of space and light, which the cottage badly lacks."

In truth it is small and dark, with the exception of the bathroom. There is seating for 5 in the lounge but this includes 2 sat in the window seat and unable to see the TV. With 5 chairs around the dining table plus the waste bin (not shown in your photos) the kitchen diner is VERY cramped, not a place to relax!! The bedroom does not have PLENTY OF STORAGE - the hanging space in an alcove is miniscule. The photo of the master bedroom suggests it is far larger than it really is. We made suggestions to the very nice owners in their book about improving the lighting. For the price paid we felt rather cheated. The description on the website does not reflect the fact that you are staying in intimate proximity to the occupants of 2 other cottages. After our earlier stay in the IOW with Sykes this was a disappointment.

All feedback is gratefully received. We have added storage, enhanced lighting in the living room. Pricing is very competitive, based on market forces and set by Manor Cottages. In so far as accuracy of the listing goes the description clearly states that this is a traditional period cottage. The large sofa can in fact seat at least 3; there’s an arm chair and window seat if required. This is a cottage building and is not advertised as a house brightly illuminated with modern lamps as such would detract from the cosy experience advertised. The cottage is larger than the neighbouring properties. There is a generously sized secluded private and gated garden to the rear of the property enabling complete privacy from anyone else. We have sympathetically restored, styled and dressed the cottage in keeping with a traditional Cotswold style. We are grateful for the positive comments of many guests in the on site guest book. Many appreciating our efforts to encapsulate the vibe of Cotswold living with a modern twist without compromising the wider appeal people would expect from wanting to stay in a natural stone built period grade II cottage. The property

Set in the heart of Bourton-on-the-Water and mere moments from the village center, Tuesday Cottage is a beautiful 17th century home that manages to retain its timeless character, whilst also displaying a contemporary feel.

Upon entering the property, you will be immediately greeted by a snug and relaxing living area that provides seating for five and comes with a log burning stove, as well as a Smart TV and DVD player.

This room provides a wonderful and relaxing atmospheric retreat with the large, inglenook fireplace and the history of the cottage is reflected in the beams which have been brought back to their original state.

Moving forward, you will find the kitchen/diner, which provides you a place to sit and relax and discuss the day's events over a beautifully prepared meal.

The kitchen is well equipped with modern appliances to make your time spent as relaxing as possible.

Rising up to the first floor, you will find a master bedroom which features a king size bed, and a gorgeous view to the local area.

You will also find the beautifully appointed bathroom, finished to an exceptionally high standard which adds a real touch of luxury, featuring a generous walk in shower, gorgeous roll top bath, toilet, and hand basin.

Rising up from the first floor you will find some narrow and steep stairs which lead to a room with a double bed, wardrobe storage and generous view of the area.

The second, single room on the second floor is again accessed via steep, open tread stairs - a quirky and atmospheric space which again gives evidence of the age of the cottage.

Externally, given that the cottage dates back hundreds of years, and sits within the very centre of the village, you have a surprisingly large outside private space to enjoy.

There is a secluded, graceful outside seating area with two sets of tables and chairs and garden bench, and provides a tranquil setting in the middle of this bustling village - ideal for a spot of al-fresco dining, or to simply sit and relax.

In terms of location, Tuesday Cottage could not be better positioned, as it rests only 50 yards from the iconic River Windrush which bisects the village, and gives it the title of 'the Venice of the Cotswolds'.

In the village you will find plenty to keep you occupied, with an array of pubs and restaurants, as well as attractions such as the famous Model Village, Cotswold Motoring and Toy Museum, Birdland Park & Gardens, and Bourton Vale Equestrian Centre.

A little further, take a stroll to the pretty village of Lower Slaughter, or travel a little further to the quintessential Cotswold towns of Burford, Stow on the Wold and Broadway, all within 10 miles.

There is something at Tuesday Cottage for everyone to enjoy and get the best out of a retreat to the Cotswolds.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £300.

About the location

BOURTON-ON-THE-WATER

Stow-on-the-Wold 4 miles; Moreton-in-Marsh 8 miles; Chipping Norton 13 miles; Cheltenham 15.5 miles.

Located in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the historic village of Bourton-on-the-Water dates back to Neolithic times with over 100 buildings being Grade II listed or higher. The picturesque high street nestles alongside the River Windrush over which several low stone bridges span, which is why Bourton-on-the-Water is known as the Venice in the Cotswolds. Tradition states that an annual football match is played in the summer, in the River Windrush with the banks lined with spectators, with the aim to score as many goals as possible and get as wet as possible! The village has an eclectic range of visitor attractions, including The Model Village, Cotswold Motor Museum, Birdland Park and Gardens as well as a Dragonfly Maze, monthly farmers’ market as well as many tea rooms, an artisan bakery, antiques and craft markets, traditional sweet shop, cycle hire and its very own perfumery. Nearby, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises traditional England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antiques shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Also take a visit to the medieval town of Burford for a great day out where you can enjoy a trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are both within easy reach and make a great day out. The spa town of Cheltenham is, architecturally, the most complete Regency town in England with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called The City of Dreaming Spires has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also all within easy reach.
