"I could not find a grill pan!"
Found the setter a little uncomfortable after a while. However a very nice cottage to stay in. Would not hesitate to return, if going back to area.

"We had a wonderful holiday."
This property is not just a holiday cottage, it’s a beautiful and obviously much loved home. It was spotlessly clean and everything was provided for our comfort. The little garden was a delight and we enjoyed the peaceful views, up and down the canal, from the balcony. It was an easy walk into town and an even easier one to the local pub! We hope to return in the future. Thank you Linda.

"This is a great place to stay, exceptionally comfortable with attention to detail."
The balcony on the first floor and the patio garden are delightful. We returned a second time and were not disappointed.
-
"Lovely property, very comfortable with thoughtful extras including plenty of bin bags, dishwasher tablets etc."
The property is in a good location with a manageable walk to the town. Would happily recommend to family and friends

"We had a wonderful week away, and a big part of that was where we were staying."
It's in a lovely location with great views of the canal and the hills, and the living room is super cosy in the evening. We'd be more than happy to come back here again, and we'd have no issues with recommending this as the perfect base to explore the southern Cotswolds.

"Lovely house, perfect for us."
Beautifully clean, very well equipped and great walking from the door. We used our car some days, but could easily have managed without one as the house is very close to Stroud which has good shops and bus services.
-
"A lovely town house so close to the Cotswold canal and with everything you might need and more."
All this makes for a very relaxing holiday.
-
"Extremely helpful owner, the cottage was beautifully kept and very well furnished."
The kitchen was really well equipped. The view from the window of the canal was really relaxing, even better in summer.

"This is a lovely property, recently upgraded with new large Kingsize bed in the main bedroom, wonderfully appointed main bathroom and everything you could want for a comfortable time away."
The owner Linda was very welcoming with the kettle on when we arrived and happy to show us around the property. It is a real bonus to be able to wake up and open the curtains to see swans, ducks and other wonderful wildlife on the canal. We especially liked sitting on the patio with our morning coffee. There are plenty of interesting places to walk to from the property especially along the towpath. Linda has a huge selection of information regarding the area and it was really helpful. Would definitely go back.

"My stay at 13 Bowbridge Lock was fantastic."
The owner, Linda, was so kind and helpful from start to finish and obviously takes great care to keep the cottage at its best for anyone who comes to stay. The cottage has lots of room while still being cosy - a great combination. The kitchen was very well-equipped and everything worked beautifully. The new upstairs bathroom is lovely and I now dream of having a similar shower at home some day. The large living room area became a multipurpose space for me for daily yoga/pilates/T'ai Chi, quiet reading and study, and then movie/TV-watching in the evening. The setting of the cottage right on the canal is an amazing feature - to have the towpath and all its connections to other footpaths up to Rodborough Common right outside the back door along with the natural setting was so ideal for me as a walker/hiker and amateur photographer. Yet it was still only a 10 minute walk to all the shops and Saturday market in the centre of town and to the rail station - so convenient. I had no car for the two weeks of my stay in Stroud but with the town being on the rail line and with so much to see within walking distance, I didn't miss having a vehicle at all. I hope to return to Bowbridge Lock again some day, maybe in a warmer month than November so I could also take advantage of the lovely courtyard as well as the balcony with beautiful views over the canal. An exceptional place!

We particularly appreciated all the information provided, especially the walking folder/book & maps. Lovely area with so much to explore.

Just a short distance from Stroud town and a supermarket. Plenty to do lots of walks and beautiful country side. The Bowridge arms is well worth a visit good food friendly welcoming staff. Would use this house again if in the area.

"Extremely enjoyable."

"Accommodation was spotlessly clean, comfortable and had everything you could need or want."
It was within walking distance of Stroud and a short rail journey into Gloucester. Can't think of a single negative thing to say, well apart from the slightly dodgy weather at the start of our stay, but that's just British summertime!

We had a great week in Bowbridge the house was perfect for 4 of us - easy walk in to Stroud - very nice pub 2 mins walk - House was warm and comfortable and mostly well equipped - bedrooms a bit small , lots of stairs in 3 storeys but very clean and up to date - particularly brilliant new bathroom with excellent shower The house is very handy for all sorts of walks which are detailed in some very good literature and guides provided by the owner - some very steep but a lot starting from the house's back gate on to the canal - perfect We visited Newark Park House(National Trust), Gloucester and the Cathedral and we also went to Oxford so the property is perfectly placed to see the sights of the Cotswolds and beyond Pete from Kelsall

"Lovely owners extremely comfortable cottage views from lounge beautiful walk along canal wonderful"
-
"In terms of value for money this has been the very best cottage we have stayed in."
The standard of cleanliness was exceptional - the facilities were first class everything you could possibly need was taken care of. Our host were lovely and they couldn't have been more helpful. The area is beautiful with lots of interesting places to visit - more than you could possibly do in a week! All in all a perfect week

"This townhouse is uncluttered and well thought out, the linens and furniture good quality."
The position next to the canal is lovely, with both short and long walks on the doorstep. The courtyard garden is a suntrap, whilst the wildlife on the canal, ducks, kingfisher, dragonflies and the owls at night, very special. We enjoyed our break and wished we could have stayed for longer. Hope to be back again soon.
-
"Wonderful homely feel in a great location right on the canal side."
Delightful colourful courtyard sun trap. Very relaxing

Great location; especially good for those who wish to access easy walks that are scenic, but on one level, avoiding energetic hill climbing (using canal towpaths)
-
"Excellent position with beautiful views along the canal."
House very comfortable with everything provided. Warm welcome from owners. Good base for walking and visiting local attractions.
-
"Excellent start to our UK adventure."
House is ideally located on the canal tow path, very peaceful, comfortable and welcoming but close enough to walk into Stroud for the Saturday markets or some shopping. Bowbridge Arms is just a very short walk away and has great pub food at very good prices. Bird life is prolific, a pair of swans had taken up residence on the canal. We did train trips to Bath, Oxford and Gloucester and some really enjoyable day trips in the car. Would highly recommend 13 Bowbridge.

"We have just spent a few days here at Bowbridge Lock, overlooking the quiet canal towpath."
Lovely bird friendly small garden to sit in, or best the 1sf floor lounge balcony. We had lovely weather and enjoyed walks along the towpath. Had the weather been bad Linda has thoughtfully provded a large selection of books, games and DVDs to use along with a smart tv. I can fully recommend this property.

-
"The accommodation was very comfortable, clean, well-equipped and quiet."
The setting was lovely beside the canal with a tow path to walk along just outside the back gate. A supermarket was within easy walking distance as was the town of Stroud. The owners were approachable and helpful. We would love to return some time in the near future.

About the location
STROUD
Gloucester 9.5 miles; Cirencester 13 miles.
The town of Stroud is known as the less commercial corner of the Cotswolds, a somewhat bohemian collection of buildings, squares and lanes, tucked into the green hills which once housed countless sheep during the town’s time as the centre of the Cotswold’s woollen industry. Today, Stroud welcomes visitors to its friendly cafes, quaint bookshops, independent shops and tempting eateries. Described by Jasper Conran as the ‘Covent Garden of the Cotswolds’, Stroud has a regular farmers' market, year-round programmes of music and theatre, a thriving arts scene and a state-of-the-art cinema. For simply relaxing, Stratford Park on the edge of town offers lakeside walks, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and a museum. Head out of town to explore the five sweeping valleys which surround it, with country lanes just made for walking or cycling.
