  • "A spacious cottage in an excellent location."

We loved it! (Garden needed some TLC and not enough bin bags, but these were just minor details) All in all - brilliant! A great place for a family get-together!

Thank you for providing feedback and we're glad you loved the cottage. We will be giving the garden some TLC and thank you for bringing this to our attention. We hope to welcome you again. Property Owner

  • "A beautiful cottage, clean and comfortable."

The kitchen was adequate, but would not be great for serious cooks, and we would have appreciated more information in the folder about recycling bins and where to find them, but otherwise a delightful place to stay, and we would return without a doubt.

Pleased to hear you had a delightful stay. We will address the comment with regards to recycling bins. We look forward to welcoming you back. Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed our stay in the Cotswolds and the cottage location was perfect for exploring Broadway itself and the surrounding area."

The cottage overall is attractive, clean and spacious with the bonus of parking in a central location. Unfortunately we were disappointed with a number of aspects in the cottage itself and were extremely concerned the bath shower mixer has still not been fixed resulting in very hot showers that certainly would not be safe for children. We found all of the sofas and dining chairs in the property to be uncomfortable and the downstairs bedroom very cold in March, the freestanding bath is a lovely feature but the room was too cold to use it, the underfloor heating also made a loud clicking sound throughout the night. Despite additions to the kitchen equipment mentioned in previous reviews we found the kitchen to be poorly equipped with a number of key items missing eg. tongs, small sharp knives, oven gloves and the crockery and utensils provided to be inadequate when cooking meals for 7 people. For what we paid we expected better and with a winter stay would have liked to have been more comfortable when spending time in the property. Incidentally, the starter pack of logs mentioned in the description was not provided.

We’re sorry to hear this review.. The shower mixer has now indeed been repaired. The sofas are in good repair and meet all current legislation. We have always found them very comfortable; the dining chairs are antique and possibly not to everyone’’s taste but are in keeping with the historic nature of Yarn cottage. The electric underfloor heating is permanently set at 20c and easily turned up on the thermostat if guests need more heat. the fact that they click indicates that the temperature was indeed 20c and being maintained.. This is just the way the electrical rely works.. An ambient temperature of 20c is generally more than adequate for normal living.. we are sorry you don't feel the same but as we said earlier the heating is easily turned up. We struggle to see how the kitchen is not equipped for 7.. We provide cutlery, glasses and dinnerware for 12.. we will review the utensils and replace if needed as occasionally they do get taken by guests.. Had you contacted us during your stay any issue would have been rectified within the hour.. it is a shame that you waited until weeks after to bring alleged dissatisfaction to our attention.. • "The cottage was a very good fit for our family Christmas and was nicely decorated with a tree and various other festive decorations."

Having the two sitting rooms were perfect as we could all have a bit of 'space' when needed! The location of the cottage is also perfect for Broadway and there's an amazing children's play park 2 minutes away. We enjoyed our stay. There are now a few more knives, pizza cutter, colander, measuring jug, milk jugs, ice cream scoop & egg cups so don't bring them! Serving spoons & some mixing bowls would be nice. The only thing that keeps this cottage not being 5* is that as per the reviews going back to October the bathroom loo seat is still wonky and the bath/shower thermostat needs mending. Luckily there's a big jug that you can use to fill with cold water from the basin to cool bath water. Some occasional tables to put glasses/mugs on in the sitting rooms and chairs in the bedrooms are needed.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your stay at Yarn Cottage. It's lovely to hear how much you enjoyed your stay and we will pass on your comments to the owner to review. We hope to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

  • "This is a spacious property in a brilliant location, and we had a lovely stay."

Just a few minor niggles are holding it off 5 stars - a broken kitchen tap, a wonky loo seat, a shower with an unusually stiff temperature dial - but I'm sure these are easily fixed. The owner was friendly and came out straight away to try and fix the shower. On the whole I would definitely recommend.

Thank you for your feedback. We are so sorry to hear of the issues that you encountered during your stay and hope that these did not have a lasting impact on your retreat. The issues that you have reported will be resolved as soon as possible and we would love to welcome you back any time in the future. Property Owner

Shortage of a small sharp (paring) knife Water in the main bathroom too hot and couldn’t adjust the temperature Large bedroom very cold, floor heating not set high enough

  • "It was a beautiful cottage in an excellent location but it was quite tired with a few niggles."

Broken loo seat, broken shelf in fridge, bedroom door knob which would fall off, only one cooking knife ( it’s hard to slice bread without a bread knife) for over £3000 I would have hoped for better quality. We did however have a very enjoyable holiday.

  • "The bathrooms and showers were good looking, but we had some concerns about the supply of hot water when more than one shower was running."

The dining chairs were very worn (the seats) and uncomfortable. We appreciated the cookies, flowers and wine left for us to enjoy.

  • "The cottage was exactly as described in the brochure."

It was spacious and very comfortable. The furnishings and decorative touches were elegant. The parking space was great to have although a little tricky to get into with a large car. The location was great - 2 minutes walk to the high street shops and restaurants but the road the cottage is on is fairly busy and it was rather noisy when sitting in the garden. The only real niggle is the lack of certain kitchen items. For instance there was no bread knife, sieve, colander, measuring jug, milk jug, egg cups, serving spoons, pizza cutter, ice cream scoop or general purpose plastic or pyrex bowls. It would have been tricky to do any real cooking.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your stay at Yarn Cottage. We're glad you had a lovely time at the cottage and appreciate your tips for improvement regarding kitchen items. We'd love to welcome you back again in the future! Property Owner

  • "Coming out of where the car is parked was very tricky."

It took a bit of maneuvering. Also the downstairs bedroom needed a full length mirror and the wardrobe needed handles to open them more efficiently.

The property

A charming and beautifully presented property, Yarn Cottage is the perfect setting from which to discover the delights of the Cotswolds.

Located just yards from the High Street of the bustling town of Broadway, referred to by many as 'the jewel of The Cotswolds', it makes an exceptional base all-year-round for your family retreat.

Dating back to the 1700s, what was once a row of three terraced cottages, Yarn Cottage has been transformed into a single dwelling (a process continued by the current owners) offering cool and contemporary accommodation.

On entering the cottage, visitors are immediately struck by the feeling of light and space; unusual in a property of this age.

A large, sun-filled dining and sitting room runs across the entire length of the cottage, offering somewhere to dine with friends or family, or to simply seek a few moments of rest and relaxation.

The ground floor also provides visitors with the choice of two lounging areas, both equipped with Smart TVs, here you can take your pick from the sitting room providing the added luxury of the woodburning stove for those chilly winter evenings, or the snug making the perfect spot to unwind with a good book.

The ground floor accommodation also provides you with a cloakroom, a beautifully equipped kitchen complete with all mod cons, as well as the most recent addition, a luxurious ground-floor king-size bedroom with freestanding slipper bath.

Take the stairs to the first floor and you will find three further bedrooms: a king-size bedroom with en-suite shower room, a double room as well as a single room with day bed, offering a flexible sleeping arrangement for a variety of group needs all with their own beautiful and stylish interior.

On the first floor you will also find the family bathroom as well as a utility cupboard with a convenient washing machine and tumble dryer.

Outside, enjoy a spot of alfresco dining in the private, enclosed courtyard at the rear of the cottage.

When you get out and about to explore the town, you will immediately be struck by the history that surrounds you; 50 yards from the cottage you will find yourself on the High Street, previously the 'broad way', leading from the foot of the western Cotswolds escarpment with a wide grass-fringed street lined with ancient honey-coloured limestone buildings dating back to the 16th century and earlier, with the oldest house in the area being Abbots Grange built in 1320 as the summer retreat for the Abbots of Pershore, as well as the High Street being rumoured to be one of the longest in England!

The High Street itself, with its vast array of historic pubs, cafés and restaurants, as well as quirky, independent shops is reason enough to visit the town.

However, if more distractions are required then if you are feeling fit, take the walk up Fish Hill and visit the historic Broadway Tower and take in the stunning scenery.

Alternatively if you are not feeling quite so energetic, take the short drive to Snowshill and visit the ancient Manor House.

The gorgeous town of Chipping Campden can be found just under six miles from Broadway; frequently voted the prettiest town in England, and if you time it right you may be able to see the ‘Olimpick’ Games, believed to have started in 1612 by Robert Dover, today the games feature such quaint local contests as 'shin-kicking' held each May, where visitors are invited to take part!

Yarn Cottage really is the perfect base, for friends and families, to explore this beautiful part of the Cotswolds.
