  • "Really enjoyed our stay at Valley View near Ross on Wye."

Cottage was very comfortable, clean and well equipped. In the heart of the countryside with excellent views and also very well situated for the Forest of Dean Owner was very friendly and helpful and provided a nice welcome pack.

  • "Lovely, cosy and well equipped accommodation in a super peaceful location with stunning views."

The owners are so welcoming and friendly. A great base to explore the beautiful Wye Valley.

  • "Excellent base for exploring the Forest of Dean - the cottage was very clean & comfortable, and had everything we needed."

Our hosts were very welcoming, and we enjoyed meeting the alpacas and the dogs. Great local pub recommendations too. Better directions to the property in our joining instructions would have been welcome (I suggest you check with the owners, or use What3Words) - we arrived in daylight, but I expect other people struggle....

  • "Fantastic property in a beautiful location."

Very tricky to find initially even using Sat-nav. Found the sofas a little uncomfortable but not too bad. Spiral staircase was no problem for me but could be awkward for some. Lovely to see the Llamas, sheep and especially the friendly dogs!

Glad you enjoyed your stay Andrew. Sat-nav covers quite a large area up here so for anyone else coming to stay and reading this try the 3 word location app. Property Owner

Only downside was spirol staircase, however did not detract from our stay in any way.

Thank you Ian, glad you enjoyed your stay. Spiral staircase can be a challenge ! best wishes Edwina and Paul Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely week at Valley View."

The house was very comfortable, warm, clean and well equipped. We packed lots into our week away but equally enjoyed our enforced day in with Storm Eunice. Thank you to the owners who made sure we were well equipped during the power cut! We would recommend the house very highly and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Thank you for your kind comments. Storm Eunice was swiftly followed by another storm and we have decided to get some battery operated lanterns ready for the next power cut! Property Owner

It was spotless and all extra Covid precautions observed. The owners were very pleasant and at hand if ever needed. Would recommend and hopefully will stop again ourselves. The location was very peaceful and had lovely views over the countryside.

Accommodation spotlessly clean and comfortable. Bed a little hard for us but that’s down to personal taste. One recommendation, some new pillows!

  • "So glad we found Howle Hill Farm for a week break."

We stayed in Valley View and it couldn't of been better, spotlessly clean, very well equipped with everything you could need, eco friendly, full washing facilities and just so comfy. The hosts Edwina and Paul were fantastic, really friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. An array of animals, mad friendly dogs, sheep and alpacas which we were privileged to watch and help in their yearly shearing. The views are stunning and just what you could need for peace and quiet. We will definitely be returning.

  • "Brilliant location - a little hard to find initially as off the beaten track so sat nav did not pick up at first."

Cottage was perfect, central for many locations and things to do and see. The facilities were perfect and very clean. The owners even provided a welcome pack, with 2 lovely mugs to take home as a reminder! We thoroughly enjoyed being invited to feed the alpaca and watch them having a "shower". Would definitely recommend as a beautiful, peaceful break and hope to return there in the near future.

  • "Beautiful location, friendly hosts and adorable alpacas, what's not to like?"

The rambles from the cottage give you nature at it's best on your doorstep and the pretty market towns of Ross (very close) and Monmouth give you everything you need.

  • "A lovely cottage in a lovely area."

Sparkling clean and although there wasn’t the usual embellishment i.e. cushions etc. due to the COVID pandemic, there was everything we needed for a very enjoyable stay. The spiral staircase took a little getting used to, but was perfectly fine for us. Paul and Edwina were very welcoming and gave us lots of information regarding the local area. We would certainly book Valley View again in the future.

  • "The views from the cottage were beautiful and grounds were nice and clean."

The owners were friendly and there is a welcome basket. The downsides were the tiny staircase leading to upstairs bedroom which is pretty small and has no toilet facilities. The bed was not the most comfortable. Despite listing WiFi the cottage definitely doesn’t have this. You have to go outside and find a place to stand near the owners cottage to use theirs. Despite this it’s a really lovely place and extremely well equipped. Cute friendly dogs. It’s great for walkers who are used to country roads

  • "This is a beautiful cottage in a great location."

And I had a lovely week of exploring the area but I think the owner really needs to bear in mind that the phone signal there is virtually non existant and they dont provide wifi so as a single traveller myself its important for me to be able to keep in touch with family. I was having to walk up the road every night to get a phone signal. The owner gives you the password to their own wifi but you can only get that if you push your equipment right up against the wood burning stove and then its very weak ... the cottage next door couldnt get any signal at all . The complimentary jam crisps and cider were a very nice touch but after a 180 miles drive all you want is a cup of tea so a complimentary tea and coffee tray would have been great

  • "Beautiful 1 bed cottage on a small farm that keeps Alpacas & a rare breed of black sheep."

The cottage was extremely well furnished and the kitchen area included a dishwasher and washing machine. The luxury bathroom had a walk in shower. Although a bit off the beaten track the quietness of the location and beautiful views from its high vantage point made it ideal for those looking for a peaceful holiday. It's just a 10min drive to Ross-on-Wye and 5mins drive to the Mill Race, the nearest Pub/restaurant. A friendly place recommended for meals. Also worth visiting is the No.3 Restaurant in Ross-on-Wye. Paul and Edwina made us feel very welcome. A nice touch was the welcome basket which included some local goodies. A bonus for keen gardeners is Howle Hill Nursery, just a couple of minutes walk away. This is a gardener's paradise which has won 9 gold medals at the Chelsea Flower show, so well worth a visit. We had a week of hot sunny weather so the coolness of the cottage with its thick walls, made coming back to it after a day touring around, a pleasure. Highly recommended.
