  • "Lovely cottage for a family get together."

Quality, stylish decor. Very comfortable beds. Close to Cotswold Wildlife Park.

    Mr MannersOct 2021

  • "We appreciated that the cottage provided a few extras such as tea, milk, crisps and biscuits on arrival, and we were not expecting these."

The cottage itself was beautifully furnished and was as described. One thing we did want to feedback, is that there wasn't anything in the information, about a venue of some description (or appeared to be) where they were hosting a wedding/celebration. I believe this was the large house next door and its gardens backed onto the cottage. We heard a lot of noise late into the night for 2 nights. This was ok for us but may be worth noting for anyone with young children or those who may have trouble sleeping! It was slightly unexpected given the remote location. It didn't however have any impact on our enjoyment.

  • "Our family had an amazing time at Easter Cottage."

The cottage itself was perfect; comfortable, beautifully designed and very well equipped. Lovely bathrooms and kitchen. Set in the village of Shilton, which happens to be so very pretty, this lovely house has been restored and designed in keeping with many of the houses you can see when walking about, they are all stunning! It was the perfect winter retreat - thank you.

  • "The house for the 6 of us was big."

It even had a cute little off building if someone prefers a bit of privacy from the main house. Beds were very comfortable and big. Showers were lovely. Tv even had netflix!! The location is set it a quite location with only a pub but only a 5 min drive to the nearest top. Beautiful, Relaxing Stay.

  • "A lovely cottage."

Very well presented and much larger than it looks on the photographs. We had a wonderful new year celebrating with all the family. Would definitely return to Eater cottage again

  • "What a fabulous cottage we stayed in!"

Spotlessly clean and beautiful, warm and welcoming. Facilities were good, sadly the wifi wasn’t working but it didn’t affect our weekend. Shilton is a beautiful and quaint place and we visited Burford which was also very pretty! Lots of things to do and were all suggested in the welcome book at the cottage.

    Mrs LoubserDec 2019

  • "Lovely house, sympathetically renovated, beautifully decorated and furnished."

Our only problem was that none of the bedrooms had mirrors. With three females in the house needing to blow dry hair, this was a problem. However, within 3 hours of phone call to Manor Cottages a gentleman came to the door with a long mirror which we put on the landing and shared which was most appreciated by us ladies - thank you! That’s the only problem we encountered we loved this house and would like to thank the owners for letting us stay in their beautiful home. Great village pub (Rose and Crown) friendly locals and staff.

About the location

BURFORD

Swinbrook 3.3 miles; Little Barrington 3.4 miles; Minster Lovell 6.1 miles.

Burford is possibly one of, if not THE most famous of the Cotswolds' locations. With its medieval bridge, old stone houses and attractive Tudor and Georgian frontages, Burford is justifiably one of the most picturesque towns in England. Often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds', the town was originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon ford which later grew to be an important regional crossroads and wealthy wool town. Located mid way between Oxford and Cheltenham (25 mins each away) it is a little haven of history and beauty that many come to fall in love with when they visit.

The 16th century Tolsey building, once the meeting place for medieval merchants, now houses The Tolsey Museum, a delightful local museum illustrating the town's social and industrial past. The church is stunning, a real gem architecturally with many interesting memorials charting some of Burford's great families. There is also the signature, on the baptisimal font, of Antony Sedley, one of the Levellers besieged in the church in 1649 - three of the ringleaders were executed by Oliver Cromwell's men in the churchyard. History awaits!

With little changing over the centuries, Burford is now very popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for its shopping and antiques, and for the wide variety of places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and teashops. It is an ideal base for visiting The Cotswolds area as it is within easy driving distance of popular attractions such as Blenheim Palace, Sudley Castle, Warwick Castle and several National Trust Houses and Gardens. Bourton on the Water, Bibury, Cirencester and Stow on the Wold are all with 25 minutes from the property.
