  • "This is a lovely cottage, which is extremely comfortable; we all slept very soundly."

It’s stylishly decorated in soothing colours and prints. It’s been thoughtfully equipped. The location is wonderful, it’s a 20 min walk into Stroud, downhill, and the views are breath-taking. We all loved our stay here and would love to return. Many thanks to Maureen!

  • "The Hendy cottage was very charming and clean."

We enjoyed the stay. However, the house manual was not out in the open for us to figure how to use the washer/dryer or determine the Wi-Fi password. We finally found the manual in one of the drawers. The kitchen had the proper amount of cooking utensils but we were disappointed that the cottage was not equipped with plastic wraps or aluminum foil to store left over food. Shampoo and soap were not available either. Overall, we enjoyed the stay but for U.S. visitors who are not accustomed to single lane streets and cramped parking might find access to the cottage somewhat stressful.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Hendy Cottage. It's lovely to hear your enjoyed your stay at the cottage and thank you for providing feedback. This will be passed to the Owner for review. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

  • "The "lovely enclosed courtyard" is very small and only sunny early morning."

More importantly it is not enclosed - no gate. Dangerous for kids and dogs. Otherwise a really nice cottage. Very well equipped. More detailed local information would have been appreciated.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to Hendy Cottage. It's lovely to hear you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your comment regarding the garden area. This currently isn't secure for a dog or small child, but the Owner is looking at doing something with this area over the Summer to make it more animal/small person friendly outside. • "We were generally happy with the cottage, good location for Stroud, Cirencester a short drive away, which we visited for the day."

Tea/Coffee, Milk, Biscuits/Cake present on arrival, WIFI was excellent, lots provided for, it was a comfortable and pleasant stay. Key collection was easy and the information in the cottage was good, we enjoyed a walk to Rodborough Common and a walk up the canal to Stroud Brewery. There was a few things which could be improved: 1) Parking not great, a small uneven space at front of cottage, difficult to manoeuvre into, could do with levelling and expanding as much as possible on the tight road. 2) Noisy air conditioning/vent in one of the bedrooms, rendering that room unusable to sleep in, could do with addressing. 3) Some of the windows and/or shutters didn't fully close, locks tired/broken etc. letting in coldness at night. 4) Main bedroom had a wonky noisy floorboard at doorway, needs fixing. 5) Wasn't able to switch heating on, was cold at night, however did have log burning fire to keep us warm, still spring so maybe could be provided until summer?

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback on your stay at Hendy Cottage. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your time away overall and appreciate your suggestions for improvement. These will be taken into full consideration, and we hope to welcome you again one day in the future. Property Owner

About the location

RODBOROUGH

Stroud 1 mile; Gloucester 10 mile; Cirencester 14 miles; Cheltenham 20 miles.

The town of Stroud is known as the less commercial corner of the Cotswolds, a somewhat bohemian collection of buildings, squares and lanes, tucked into the green hills which once housed countless sheep during the town’s time as the centre of the Cotswold’s woollen industry. Today, Stroud welcomes visitors to its friendly cafes, quaint bookshops, independent shops and tempting eateries. Described by Jasper Conran as the ‘Covent Garden of the Cotswolds’, Stroud has a regular farmers' market, year-round programmes of music and theatre, a thriving arts scene and a state-of-the-art cinema. For simply relaxing, Stratford Park on the edge of town offers lakeside walks, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and a museum. Head out of town to explore the five sweeping valleys which surround it, with country lanes just made for walking or cycling.
