  • "What a lovely comfortable & stylish cottage."

We enjoyed the proximity to Tetbury with an array of antique shops galore! We visited Bath which was an easily managed one hour drive. Beds exceptionally comfy with quality linen. We enjoyed the log burner & home from home feel!Thankyou!

  • "We loved our weekend in Pear Tree Cottage; a delightful retreat."

It was warm and very comfortable, and suited the four of us beautifully. We enjoyed cooking in the very well equipped kitchen, and eating in the pretty dining room. Two miles or so from Minchinhampton with pubs (we ate a very good meal at The Crown) and shops, Cherington itself is a lovely Cotswolds village with walks from the door - the countryside around magical with hard frosts on the 2 days we were there.

  • "What a lovely cottage and what a lovely village."

    LeighApr 2019

  • "Beautiful, cosy cottage!"

We had a fab stay and loved being in front of the fire with a glass of wine in the evening.

  • "Check-in was a breeze – Kevin met us promptly and was very helpful and friendly in showing us round."

The cottage is close enough to supermarkets to buy supplies (10-15min from many major brands) yet equally set in the countryside to escape from everything. It was perfectly clean and had everything you could possibly need. Internet was great too for film nights and booking your tickets...but you’d hardly need it beyond that because of the beautiful scenery. Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone!

The property

Settled in an enviable position in the peaceful, rural village of Cherington, rests this stylish property, Pear Tree Cottage.

Within easy reach of amenities and attractions, the cottage makes for the perfect home-from-home getaway for families with older children, couples and groups of friends who are seeking a relaxing break in this untouched area of the Cotswolds.

Be welcomed by the pretty patio garden and marvel at the lovely pear tree that grows up the front wall, as you enter through the front door of the cottage, directly into the sitting room; this characterful room makes for the perfect space for you and your loved ones to sink into the welcoming sofas of an evening as you catch up on your favourite TV show whilst sipping on a glass of wine, as the woodburning stove creates a gentle glow in the room, and keeps you warm and toasty on those cold winter evenings.

Moving through the property you will come to the smart dining room, which is a lovely area to relax and unwind whilst tucking into your delicious meals, sat by the fine Crittal window, whilst the woodburning stove crackles away in the background.

Rustle up heart-warming meals in the well-presented kitchen where you will find everything you need during your self-catering stay including an electric cooker and hob.

Pop on some tunes on the radio whilst you’re cooking and get well stuck into the chef role!

A useful utility room sits adjacent to the kitchen, with space for coats and shoes as well as a washer/dryer, microwave and additional fridge.

Upstairs, the older children can venture into the twin bedroom, as you and your loved one retreat to the king-size bedroom and admire the quiet village lane through the bay window.

You can look forward to a relaxing soak amongst the bubbles in the bath later on, or perhaps an invigorating rinse in the walk-in shower.

A stunning walled garden sits outside, with a lawn area bordered by a boxed hedge and pretty flowers that bloom in the summer, as well as another beautiful garden accessed through a gap in the wall where you will find another lawn area with plenty of fruit trees.

Be sure to make us of the charcoal barbecue in summer months and enjoy some alfresco dining, whilst looking out across the stunning views of the Cotswold hills and countryside beyond.

Stroll over to the parish church of St Nicolas, a Grade I listed building, that is made from rubble stone, squared on tower and Cotswold stone slate roof, a beautiful building to pass by on your walks through the village.

The neighbouring village of Avening has two popular pubs, The Bell Inn and Queen Matilda Country Inn, as well as an organic farm shop where you can pick up produce for your home-cooking!

Avid walkers and cyclists will be delighted to find many cycle and walk routes passing through Cherington, including those through the local bluebell woods and those slightly further afield on Minchinhampton Common and the Woodchester Valley.

Stroll across Minchinhampton and Rodborough Commons to experience stunning scenery, as well as offering one of the three local 18-hole golf courses for an afternoon of family fun.

Stroud can be found within easy reach, hosting a farmers’ market on Saturdays, as well as being known for its vibrant music, poetry and artistic scene or head to Cheltenham for its renowned science, literature and music festivals or for a day at the races!

For a memorable holiday that you and your loved ones will cherish forever, stay at Pear Tree Cottage.

About the location

Tetbury 4 miles; Michinhampton; 2 miles

The Cotswold village of Cherington in Gloucestershire lies just 4 miles from Tetbury. This picturesque, albeit small village might not seem like much, but there is plenty to keep you occupied. Take a stroll down to the local pub, the Cherington Arms. It's a country pub that serves only the best pub food, in areas such as its dining room, garden, and patio, in addition to games such as Dominoes, Crib, and Aunt Sally. If you are searching for something slightly different, try Trudie's Tea Room. This lovely tearoom offers its customers a variety of cakes, scones, teas, and coffees. You can spend a fun-filled day at the Cherington Show with plenty of activities for the whole family, including kid's corner, animal corner, vintage tractors, tea tent, and much more. The Cotswold towns of Minchinhampton and its Golf Club are just 2 miles away, and Highgrove Gardens in Tetbury is only 5 miles away, making Cherington a perfect retreat.
