  • "Oak Bank was such a beautiful house and a beautiful location."

It had everything we needed for our long weekend away. Fi (the host) was amazing, she'd left us a cream tea in the fridge on arrival and was so friendly, welcoming and accommodating. We wanted to book a return visit for next year but we were gutted to hear it's going up for sale in Spring 2024

  • "The cottage was so warm and welcoming and really comfortable."

We’ve not stayed in such a well equipped cottage and the kitchen had everything you needed to self cater. There was a great deal of information about places to visit and places to eat. There were plenty of books and games as well as an excellent television. The beds are really comfortable and we all slept well. The dog den is wonderful and the dogs too had a good holiday with plenty of walks from the cottage. A lovely holiday which started well with a welcoming cream tea

There was plenty of room for our large family holiday, the local bakery was amazing and highly recommended. We had some lovely walks in the Forest of Dean and visited the local pubs, the food was delicious. I would highly recommend this cottage and location.

  • "The cottage was so warm and welcoming."

The cream tea was a nice touch and was enjoyed by all! A visit to the Forest Bakery down the road is worth the walk particularly to sample their cookies! Unlike most self catering establishment's we didn't have to strip beds or leave our rubbish which was a refreshing change. We'd love to visit again sometime in the future.

  • "Oak Bank is a lovely cottage."

The house is set in a beautiful location. It’s a good size property so you don’t feel like you’re on top of each other, and the bedrooms are a good size. Great parking at the side of the house and ideal if you have dogs. Owner was very accommodating and would recommend staying. If we are in this part of the UK again we would look to book again.

  • "We believe the property could do with being updated as carpet up the stairs has holes in it and general painting needed to various rooms."

The bottom draw of freezer not keeping things frozen. Walking distance to the Yew Tree quick through the fields about 15 minutes. The Farmers Boy is a lot further via main road not ideal to walk. Also would not recommend the Bakery down church lane as total rip off 2 small loafs of bread and 2 packs of lemon ricciarelli biscuits cost 15.50.

We have new carpets in all rooms now. They are lovely. Property Owner

  • "Lovely, spacious cottage."

Very clean & well equipped. Thank you for the lovely afternoon tea - it was most welcome. Plenty of dog walks around the area with the Forest of Dean a stones throw away. Rear garden was safe for the dogs, however, smaller than anticipated and gets very little sun. I also agree with a previous comment about some kind of lighting in the back garden. This aside, it is a lovely house and would recommend. Will certainly look at going back next year.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at oak bank cottage."

The owners have provided everything anyone could need, lovely and clean when we arrived and the welcome afternoon tea was a lovely touch. The only issue which we encountered was the lack of lightning in back garden. This really is a minor thing but when letting the dogs out after dark, we couldn't see where they were and what they were doing, obviously we checked next morning. We realise that bright lighting could be a nuisance to the nextdoor property. But maybe some floor level lighting would be helpful. This in no way distracted from our overall lovely holiday experience. We would love to return sometime. Thank you very much, you've pretty much thought of everything. The house is very well equipped with everything we needed and the sky package was amazing, as we don’t have it at home, very comfy beds and a nice deep bath made it a very nice stay indeed, there are lots and footpaths around the cottage which made it extremely easy to get the dogs out in the mornings, we are very much looking forward to going back next year and to also having another pie from the farmers boy pub up the road. Highly recommended

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. Looking forward to seeing you and your dogs next year. Still loads of places to explore locally. Thank you for leaving the cottage so clean and tidy. Property Owner

The lounge had plenty comfortable seating for the six adults and the wood burner made it extra cosy. Fiona made us some delicious muffins & scones which she delivered to us on New Year’s Day. Our dog really enjoyed his own space, preferring to take himself off into his own quarters, 2x dog beds were provided and even though we took our own, he did enjoy trying them out. If we needed any assistance, Fiona was on hand immediately. In the property as well as providing a, visitor’s book, there’s a suggestion book too. Which is such a good idea for providing the owners with information, ie a light bulb needing replacing etc. Overall wonderful.

My husband and I, our son, his fiancée and their 16 month old baby had a lovely holiday stay in this cottage. It was ideal for families and a good central base to explore the area. We especially like the fact it had a utility room where we could come in via the back door with our dogs, dry them off and put them straight into the dog room to thoroughly dry off before they joined us in the large kitchen/dining area.
