The evening we arrived, there was a power cut. Shirley and Lyndon arrived promptly after a phonecall to the owner. They had to call in an engineer on the Saturday who put matters right but said there was an earlier problem with the boiler. All then went well for the week until the leaving day when we had to have cold showers before the water again became hot just as we left. It's a problem that needs sorting - and I think some discount would be a nice idea. There is only one set of cutlery and crockery i.e. when the eight plates are in the dishwasher there are no extras. Only one pair of scissors and two sharp serrated knives. Fridge too small for eight people. We had to buy extra binbags. No cafetiere! We were surprised by the lack of information (compared with what we've had in other cottages, including Sykes ones): no information about using the cooker (oven timer affected by power cut) or the heating and hot water; no information on recycling or bin days (the bins were already overflowing) or nearest doctor, pharmacy or recommended eating place; no tourist leaflets at all. Finally, we brought 5 bikes with us (being near to so many cycling routes I'm sure we won't be alone) but with nowhere to store them (there's a shed full of stuff that could be bigger and used for the purpose). Don't get me wrong - I don't whinge. I think definite improvements can be made.
