“Window blinds in single room and one of the double rooms were broken, the blind in the bathroom didn't fit the window properly and as it was a normal window it made myself and my daughters feel uncomfortable when showering, it was also very tatty.”

There was no hanging space apart from the main double bedroom. The extractor fan in the kitchen was extremely noisy that we couldn't use it, we opened windows instead.

The property

Nestled in the charming village of Colwall, enveloped by the natural beauty of the Malvern Hills, is Ferndale Cottage.

This well-appointed accommodation is well-suited to families and friends seeking some quality time together in the great outdoors.

It is accessed via a small side path to the front, where you will meander through the enclosed garden to the front door.

Head straight into the sitting room once you have stacked your boots in the porchway and dried off the dog from a wet and muddy walk, and truly make the most of your down time.

Cool, wintry evenings will welcome the warmth from the multi-fuel stove as you sip a refreshing beverage and enjoy a cosy night in with your loved ones.

The stove is double sided into the dining area, so you can keep toasty and warm as you tuck into a tasty, home-made meal cooked up in the fully equipped kitchen. The Colwall park hotel is located on the doorstep which is a lovely spot for a meal or a drink at the dog friendly bar.

Lastly, the ground floor is complete with a handy cloakroom as the stairs climb up to the bedrooms and family bathroom.

The first of two doubles overlooks the south-facing garden, while the single room is ideal for those travelling with a child.

You can soak up the sunlight at any time of the day in the front garden and even dine alfresco-style during the summer months.

You have plenty of local amenities in the village and there are walks from the doorstep up onto the Malvern Hills, with many other outdoors activities for you to try such as climbing, fishing, horse riding and even paragliding.

Head out for the day and explore the Victorian town of Malvern, home to the Great Malvern Priory revealing its many hidden treasures inside, while Abbey Gateway plays host to the Malvern Museum, filled with historic exhibits to extend your knowledge of the area.

Enjoy an exciting treasure hunt with the whole family, finding the many well waters of Malvern littering the valley, such as Beauchamp Spout in Cowleigh Road or Malvhina at Belle Vue Island.

The large village of Colwall nestles within the westerly folds of the Malvern Hills AONB, bordering Worcestershire and split into three areas known as Colwall Stone, Colwall Green and Upper Colwall. One of the main features of this delightful village is the view of British Camp, which is an Iron Age hill fort positioned at the top of Herefordshire Beacon, a protected, ancient monument maintained by the Malvern Hills Conservators. Colwall Stone boasts a series of local shops, a specialist garden centre and village hall, while all three areas of the village are littered with public houses for you to enjoy a refreshing pint after a long walk over the hills. The many other outdoor activities available nearby include cycling, horse riding and fishing, not to mention hang gliding and paragliding for those seeking a thrill, as well as 11 rock climbing locations in the area. The spa town of Malvern is nearby and offers a charming shopping location with its beautiful, hillside setting and a lovely mix of food, fashion and furniture stores. There are also a selection of pubs and eateries to choose from and a number of National Trust properties, gardens and vineyards within easy reach. Malvern Theatres has an extensive programme throughout the year with productions from the West End and the Royal Shakespeare Company, including musicals and dance, to world-renowned musicians and orchestra. Worcester and Hereford are within easy driving distance with many more attractions to enjoy, as are Tewkesbury and the Wye Valley, offering something for everyone.
