  • "We were delighted with our stay at The Long Barn."

It is a beautifully situated and stylishly presented property. The accommodation couldn't be bettered and the owners charming. Perfect for a peaceful break with a private garden and wonderful views over the Cotswolds.

  • "Overall a great place to gather for a brace of family birthdays."

A lovely comfortable property with plenty of space. A slight shame that there was such a difference in space and appointment between the two bedrooms and the AGA is the sole source of cooking so we missed having a toaster. The last day of the holiday was spoilt by a local power cut which meant no light or water and a cooling AGA. Of course this was not the owners fault & they were very apologetic, but I would have hoped for some sort of compensation scheme from Sykes who really did not seem to care & were less than helpful. Great property but poor booking agents!

Thank you for your feedback and we're glad you found the property comfortable and spacious. Unfortunately, the local power cut was beyond our control and we hope it didn't impact your stay too much. Property Owner

  • "The property was lovely with excellent fittings clearly no expense was spared in the conversion, it presented beautifully."

It is a shame that this was let down by small things, only one tiny hand towel and one toilet roll in each bathroom for 2 people for a week. No bathroom toiletries, no mirror with a handy plug for hairdryers etc, no spare bin bags and only 3 dish wash tablets also a sparsity of coat hangers that were frankly cheap and nasty. All little things but which impact on how we viewed the place which deserved so much better. We did enjoy our stay and the Long Barn itself was beautiful as was the garden and its setting.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay at The Long Barn, we agree it really is the most beautiful property! Apologies some aspects weren't to your satisfaction, this is a self catering holiday and as such we do not provide a full contingent of supplies, we do however ensure there is enough to make your arrival easy and worry free allowing you time time to settle in. The barn is beautiful, a very light and spacious space. Very well equipped with everything you could need. A great location for access to both Stow and Burford. A peaceful and private spot with beautiful views and a lovely garden. Highly recommended!

Everything you need at a very high standard. A very spacious barn with a lovely garden (which is totally enclosed, making it great if you have a dog) , ample parking, secure behind two sets of electrical gates and to top it off lovely and quiet! Ideally geographically placed, so that all the Cotswolds must see places are not too far away to visit.

  • "The Long Barn was very comfortable."

The hot water supply was rather temperamental! It was not possible to walk the dog from the Barn without going by car or walking along narrow roads. We made toast on the Aga but an electric toaster (and toast rack) would have been a bonus! Very good pubs in the vicinity.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your recent stay at The Long Barn. I will pass on your comments to the owner about the toaster and rack and we hope to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

  • "There are only 2 of us and this house was perfect for us as lots of reception space without paying for a lot of extra bedrooms we weren't going to use (we usually find we book something that is designed for 8 or more people to get this much living space."

We really enjoyed the woodburner, long country walks along The Oxfordshire Way and a wonderful local pub. Thank you

  • "Fantastic week away."

Lovely barn and enclosed garden. Perfect for families or two couples and great for our dog. Lovely comfortable beds and beautifully equipped. Would definitely recommend. The only issue we had was the two bedrooms being at opposite ends of the barn...which as per the name is ‘long’. Our 2.5 year old was a bit of a tight fit in the travel cot but she’s too small to sleep so far away and the baby monitor range would not have reached. This could potentially catch parents out! Would be fine for a baby or slightly bigger children.

  • "What a lovely, relaxing 3 nights away."

Some real positives about booking this property were excellent communication prior to arrival (especially around Covid-19 Q&As), the property was genuinely spotless (everything was gleaming), the garden was large and enclosed with lovely views across the valley and private hedging to the roadside and unbelievably quiet which was why I booked the location in the first place. Just the occasional car driving past and the sound of buzzards in the sky! The bedding was lovely (quality duvets and covers), the AGA kept a base level of warmth throughout the property (although the weather was lovely anyway), an excellent power shower in the master bedroom (didn't use the shower in the twin room), the lounge was lovely and light and the garden had a really pleasant aspect and sitting area outside. Our dog loved the garden and spent many hours out there chewing her bone! The owners who live next door gave us total privacy during our stay, but had also kindly given us various contact numbers including the housekeeper who could have sorted any issues out. Just a few small things that could improve the overall experience: Working batteries in the DVD console Sharper serrated and flat knives for the kitchen A toaster A larger waste bin for the kitchen and mixed recycling Instructions on using the AGA - and temperatures (I have never used one before this trip!) Functioning lights in the ensuite to master bedroom over the sink area In summary, a very well laid out and welcoming property with great attention to detail and comfort. There is a large private parking space easily for 2 cars and a garage carport if you were motorbiking or had bicycles to keep dry. I would definitely book again and highly recommend a stay; you won't be disappointed. Thank you to the owners for making this property available.

  • "The most beautiful, well equipped and welcoming holiday let we have stayed in."

..and we have stayed in a few. Perfect surroundings and despite the cold and wet we felt perfectly cosy and at home here. The Long Barn is a dream of a holiday let and we looked forward to returning after a day out. Although there is a lovely log burner, we did not need to use it as the house was most comfortably warm . We hope to return in early autumn to see the Cotswolds in splendid seasonal colours. What an absolute delight this place is and we have no hesitation in recommending it highly. THank you Simon and Caroline for providing this haven for us to borrow for a while.

The property

The Long Barn is a wondrous property resting within the grounds of the owner’s home (but rest assured that it is completely separate and private), just a couple of miles from the lovely village of Milton-under-Wychwood, in the midst of the beautiful Cotswolds AONB.

Within reach of some quintessentially English towns and villages such as Burford, Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Norton and Bourton-on-the-Water, The Long Barn is perfectly suited to two couples or a small family looking for a Cotswold adventure.

Presented and furnished to an exceptional standard, each room evokes grandeur and style with a choice antique furniture and characterful features including exposed beams and apex ceilings.

Find the sitting room to be a wonderfully bright and open space, with windows all around reminiscent of a conservatory, but with plush and neutral décor within; warm yourself in here with the contemporary woodburning stove and spread out on the sofas before the TV.

Delight in hearty breakfasts at the kitchen table beneath the dramatic wooden beams while a picnic is prepared on the worktops, home to a great range of appliances including an AGA range cooker.

For a celebratory meal which requires a more formal setting, proceed to the dining hall, a grand room where an ornate dining table rests atop a vintage rug, with bookcases lining one wall, you will feel as though you’ve been transported back in time in the best way.

Spend summer days with the children in the garden, running on the lawn, or sitting outside to dine alfresco, ending each day watching the colourful skies go dark.

Head to bed in one of the two gorgeous bedrooms, either the king-size room which has a lovely blue-tiled bathroom with both a bath and a walk-in shower, or the twin room where two charming wrought iron single beds provide excellent sleeping spots, and have access to an en-suite shower room.

For evenings when you need a night off from cooking, head to The Hare in Milton-under-Wychwood, a highly regarded restaurant sure to satisfy any taste buds and just under two-miles from the property.

Walkers are guaranteed to fall in love with the miles upon miles of open and rolling countryside, whether you want to map out your own path, or follow one of hundreds of routes and trails readily available, the Cotswolds will provide scenic views and incredible landscapes around every corner.

Visit the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’, Bourton-on-the-Water for a day of boat rides along the River Windrush, exploring the local boutiques and businesses and being amazing by all the animals in the Birdland & Jurassic Journey where over 500 birds and 50 aviaries live.

The Long Barn is a fantastic property catering to all your needs for a wonderful break in the Cotswolds.
