"What a beautiful place, we really enjoyed our stay."
The only minor criticism is the description sort of implied there is a pub in walking distance, now either there isn’t or we didn’t find it. But there were some lovely ones a short drive away, so maybe some clarity there in the listing. Thanks for giving us a perfect few days away.
We ae thrilled to hear that you had a delightful time at The Old Dairy and enjoyed exploring the surrounding areas. We will pass on your comments regarding the local pub to the owners. Please do come again in the future! Property Owner

"We booked this cottage after reading the reviews especially about how clean the cottage was."
Unfortunately we found the cleanliness below what we expected, the oven did not appear to have been cleaned for some time as the racks and the inner trays had burnt on grease on them, there were several cobwebs in the bedrooms, the kettle needed a descale and there was no rinse aid or salt in the dishwasher. We were disappointed with the lack of room in the double bedroom and think this should have been mentioned in the write up of the cottage or a picture of the room at least so that we would have known. Unfortunately because the bed was pushed right up onto the wall this was not suitable for the older members of our party as this meant that 1 person had to climb over the other to get out of bed. The bathroom sink plug (push to close, push to open) was inoperable as it kept popping open and the kitchen tap was constantly dripping. As there are 2 cottages next to each other it should have been made clear when booking, or in the information book in the cottage, that each cottage has there own lawned area, unfortunately the people in the next cottage did not seem to realise this and played solely on our garden which was right outside our cottage. They also let their dog loose and did not always pick up after their dog, infact we ended up having to clean up after it before we could play on our lawn. We also had a dog but did not let him off the lead. I guess it’s just luck who has booked the cottage next door

"The Old Dairy is in a great location, perfect spot to relax and unwind surrounded by pretty farm land, woodland and the lake."
The cottage had everything we needed and the garden outside was great for children and the dog.
Further afield there is lots to do and the nearby pubs all offer hearty food and a good selection of drinks including local options.
Cottage was clean and tidy, with a powerful shower and all you need for a relaxing hidey hole or a base to explore the local countryside and forest.
We are pleased to hear you had everything you needed at The Old Dairy and you were able to make the most of the garden! Property Owner

"We enjoyed the accommodation and surroundings."
A walkers paradise. Having a young child with us, it was an added bonus having children in the adjacent cottage. The lake next to the cottages was peaceful. Fishing for an hour each evening rounded off the day nicely. Who cares if you don't catch? A pair of cormorants visited, and with the resident swans it added to the diverse nature.

"This place was a super find."
The cottage was immaculate and suited our needs perfectly. Having two children and a dog the grounds were fantastic. My daughter even made a friend as another family were staying in the cottage next to us. It was a shame we were only staying for 3 nights. Pretty well located for all the activities we had planned at The Forrest of Dean. We will definitely think about going back in the future. The owners left a bottle of wine in the fridge and allowed us to check out late, as no one was arriving that day. Lovely touches that added to our great experience.

"As I have mobility issues, I often have problems with holiday homes but this one was perfect for me."
Not that it had been adapted, it was just very easy to get my walker around it and no stairs! It had everything we needed inside and pleasant outside area, where we could sit and watch the farmer hitching equipment up to his tractor and squirrels burying acorns in the lawn. It had the best of both worlds, there were country walks from the barn and many lovely places to visit within the county. We have already recommended it to our friends with dogs.

"We had a fabulous time in Flaxley."
The cottage was first class and the owners were extremely helpful too. The setting is idyllic; we can thoroughly recommend it for a relaxing break.\
The weather was lovely which always helps; we tried canoeing on the Wye and mountain biking in the Forest; we probably enjoyed Monmouth most of the places we visited. If you are into fishing, as well as the trout lake there are loads of little brown trout in the stream that runs through the property. Highly recommended!

"This converted dairy is a real find."
Set in a very quiet hamlet, next to a beautiful lake and very near all the major Forest of Dean attractions, it makes the perfect getaway. The cottage is comfortable and really well-equipped with televisions in both bedrooms as well as the lounge (should you have time to watch them!). It is also within an easy drive of Gloucester, Chepstow, Monmouth, etc. in case the weather is wet, and the lovely Symonds Yat, Newnham on Severn, the Wye and the Severn. Great for birdwatching, cycling, outdoor pursuits and cycling - a great base for a holiday in Forest of Dean. The owners - Ben and Kelly - run the farm next door and are extremely helpful. The welcome pack is a great idea and all the supermarket delivery companies will deliver and know the address.

"My hubby and I enjoyed a very lovely half-term week at this delightful cottage with my mum-in-law and aunt-in-law and our puppy Chloe."
The cottage was very warm, cosy and well-equipped. We loved the fact that we drove through private gates to get to the cottages and we were surrounded by farmland and yet near lots of nice villages. The cottage owners were extremely helpful and welcoming and the cottage was absolutely spotless and well decorated. They provided a very useful welcome pack and tea, coffee and useful items such as a few dishwasher tablets were provided too. The bedrooms weren't huge but they were nicely furnished and the bed was very comfortable. There was a nice, large enclosed garden area, ideal for dogs, and we were invited to enjoy the farmland and the lake in the next field - we only did this a couple of times due to the time of year we visited but I can imagine it would be fantastic to visit in summer. The cottage was in the pretty village of Flaxley and ideally situated for visiting the Forest of Dean, parts of Wales and if you wanted to go a bit further, the Cotswolds.

"We came down for half term week and had a really lovely holiday."
OK - so the weather was fine and the family that stayed in the other property were very nice, but the accommodation played a big part too. The Old Diary was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, with TVs in each room and wi-fi access (for teenagers obsessed with such things). The surroundings are idyllic - plenty for fishing enthusiasts (try the little streams on the property for lots of wild brown trout). Owners both helpful and friendly. Wider recommendations - Cinderford for a decent Co-op / Papparitos in Cheltenham for fab food at a ridiculously cheap price / local pub in Blaisdon (25 min walk) is nice (mixed views on food though).

"Just spent another week in this beautiful cottage which is situated in a tranquil location."
The property has a gated entrance and is surrounded by fields and a lake. It is very safe for young children and a perfect place to take a dog.\
On arrival there is an excellent welcome pack and the cottage is spotlessly clean. It is very well equipped making it seem home-from-home. There are televisions in both bedrooms and the lounge. Plenty of room to put food in the fridge and the freezer. Also very useful having a dishwasher and a washer drying machine. Outside are places to sit and relax. We enjoyed having a BBQ.\
This location is ideal for visiting the beautiful Forest of Dean and to get further afield to places like Ross-on-Wye and Chepstow. There is always a warm welcome at The Red Hart pub at Blaisdon. The food is very good and dogs are welcome in the bar area if you want to eat. Can also recommend the fish and chip shop at Littledean. Also found the Severn and Wye Smokery at Claxhill has a wonderful deli and fresh fish counter.\
There is so much to see and do in this area that you are spoilt for choice. Our dog has enjoyed long walks and our Grandson loved toddling over from the cottage to the field so that he could stroke the cows.\
This is our second visit to The Old Dairy and we all enjoyed it once again. Thank you to Ben and Sally for another lovely week.
