Wider recommendations - Cinderford for a decent Co-op / Papparitos in Cheltenham for fab food at a ridiculously cheap price / local pub in Blaisdon (25 min walk) is nice (mixed views on food though).

Cheltenham is just over 20 miles away and is home to the renowned Cheltenham Festival, 4 days of horse jump racing culminating in the Gold Cup, held annually in March at Cheltenham Racecourse.
