  • "This property is wonderful - the setting instantly puts you in ‘relax’ mode."

It’s very well equipped and super clean. I can’t think of anything else we’d want from a holiday cottage. It’s perfectly placed for so many activities, which for us included a Forest Segway ride, a great family friendly mountain biking route, a canoe down the River Wye, a steam train ride, archery, tree climbing, zip wiring...we were certainly not bored! The grounds of the accommodation allowed us to play rounders and boules with plenty of space to share with the neighbours. We also did some great nature walks around the lake - beautiful! Oh, and how’s this for service - I enquired with the owners about EV charging and they very promptly fitted an 11kw tethered charger ahead of our stay - no range anxiety for us!! We’d stay here again in a flash. Clean, beautiful, well equipped and perfectly placed.

  • "The cottage was extremely spacious and well equipped for a family."

We had a lovely stay here and the grounds and lake were peaceful and beautiful to walk around. There was lots to do in the surrounding area, all around a 30 minutes drive. Ben and Kelly were attentive hosts who did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable.

  • "The Old Mill is a wonderful, relaxing place, comes with everything you need and more."

The surrounding gardens and fields make it magical, lovely views of the lake from the lounge. Spacious for a family of six with two bathrooms. Great location if you fancy visiting nearby villages like Ross on Wye and Ledbury.

  • "The Old Mill was lovely, we found it very well equipped and really enjoyed our stay."

The hosts were really helpful and being able to walk the dogs without leaving the farm was a real bonus. Would recommend this property and a visit to this area.

  • "We booked two weeks at the Old Mill in Flaxley for our Family Christmas and New Year break ."

Other members of our family booked the Dairy which is situated opposite the Mill . The Old Mill was amazing and fully equipped to cope with all of our family from both dwellings for the Christmas dinner . The location was perfect with loads of places to explore right on the doorstep . The kids loved exploring and finding places to play . We also have two very active dogs ( Vizsla & GSP ) and they absolutely loved it down there . With it only being 68 miles from where we live we had plenty of visits from our families throughout our stay . The owners were really friendly and helpful if we needed anything . I would highly recommend it to anyone and we will be staying there again .

We had an excellent holiday the welcome could not have been more helpful, the cottage was really comfortable and welcoming plenty of good off road walking the weather was a little damp but didn't stop trips out one piece of advice don't go to Littledean Jail poor value for money not really a tourist attraction

  • "Brilliant to be able to book with The Old Dairy for families."

Having the outdoor space to play was great, we played rounders and badminton almost every evening! Lovely clean cottages with the owners just a phone call away.

  • "The accommodation is beautiful and clean the owners could not have been more helpful, we were also lucky enough to be there in a heat wave."

A very relaxing place the owners also allowed us to walk through his farm land. We did take our own coffee machine and sun lounger, word of warning there was ants on our lawn that bit the dog and would have been nice to see the drive lights and fairy lights on the outside of the house lit but never found the switch for them.

  • "We meet Kelly and Ben and gave them our comments which are as follows."

We feel it would greatly benefit the overall experience if there were some comfortable outside seating and a cover and cleaning materials for the BBQ. We also feel that at this price level clingfilm, tinfoil and kitten towel should be provided we went and bought our own. Our friends and my wife and I do at least one cottage holiday each year at similar price ranges and this is the first time these have not been provided. We were told that the Lake had not been stocked for 6 or 7 years but it is set in a very peaceful setting and for us fished well. Overall we would consider another visit but after the Lake is dredged.

  • "Great welcome from the owner Ben."

The pictures do not do this place justice. The attention to detail is very impressive. An old building fabulously restored and finished to such a high standard giving a great feeling of luxury. Opening the fridge to find bread, eggs, milk, butter and orange juice and even a bottle of wine to welcome us was terrific. And as for the huge coffee cake....delicious. So many thoughtful touches such as the toiletries, boxes of tissues etc. From the moment we drove through the electric gates and down the driveway to the house we just knew this was something special.

  • "What an amazing cottage!"

We have just got back from a fantastic family holiday in The Old Mill. The cottage is perfect, a real home from home, it's well equipped and extremely comfortable. Our dog loved roaming the grounds and watching the cows and swans. We will definitely be back. Ben and Kelly were so welcoming and thank you for the lovely welcome pack.

  • "Spent a long weekend here to celebrate a 50th birthday, the place is amazing very well lit in every room and decorated to a very high standard."

Highly recommended go ape and canoeing down the river Severn (both about 30 min drive). Tips: its very bright in the morning in the 2 front rooms as the sun rises directly in front, I couldn't sleep past about 6am but a coffee on the balcony in silence watching the sun rise is great. 2.bring bbq utensils.

  • "We celebrated my mums 50th here and it was such a great weekend."

Ben and Kelly were the perfect hosts, so helpful and even showed us around their farm. The cottage is absolutely perfect for a group of 6. Plenty of cutlery, lovely white towels and modern decor. Its all very well thought out. We used the BBQ 2 nights in a row as we were very lucky with the weather and it was great. Would highly recommend, especially if its for a special Occasion. We loved it and would certainly return.

  • "We stayed at the Old Mill for a week and had a fabulous time."

The property is gorgeous, beautifully decorated and very well equipped. Sort of place you wouldn't mind having a rainy day in - it's so cosy, immaculate and beautiful. Ben and Kelly left a fab welcome pack (which included cake and wine, best welcome pack we've ever had at a holiday rental place) and were very helpful and welcoming. Well kitted out for kids too, with toys, books, plastic plates, cups etc. Ben made my son's day by giving him a ride in the tractor and he was able to watch them making bales. All in all, highly recommend this place - best holiday place we've ever rented and we've been to quite a few. Would definitely go back.

! A fantastic barn in a beautiful location only made better, by what can best be described as good old English hospitality from Ben and Kelly, who own the barn. The barn was keep impeccably clean throughout our 5 week stay and information on what was on offer in the local area was all on hand. We just had the best time ever!!! Dear Ben and Kelly thanks you so much and we hope to see you guys next summer!! We better book early!!

  • "The standard of the property was outstanding."

The Old Mill had been refurbished to a very high level with excellent workmanship throughout. On arrival we were met by Ben who showed us round and how everything worked. A comprehensive welcome pack was provided. The surrounding area is beautiful with lots of things to do and see. Facilities are suitable for all ages. We visited the Cotswolds, Bath and Gloucester Docks and Cathedral being our favourites. Altogether a memorable holiday. Added bonus the weather was good.

  • "What a beautiful well equipped cottage!"

As the first guest "guinea pigs", would it live up to the lovely pictures on the website? It certainly did, we felt at home immediately and loved the lake and stream to splash about in.

  • "We can't recommend this cottage highly enough."

The Old Mill was beautifully designed, spotlessly clean, and ideal for our needs. We were a group of 6 adults, a 2 year old and a 7 month old. The owners were extremely helpful and accommodating and we were delighted with the equipment provided for the children (2 cots, 2 high chairs and a chest full of toys). Each room was beautifully decorated and finished to a high standard. The bedrooms were all on the ground floor. The bathrooms we again spotlessly clean, and extra toiletries (shampoo, conditioner etc) were also provided. The main downstairs living area was more than big enough for all of us, and we were able to spill out outside onto the benches and grass. The large table would easily seat 10, and creates a really sociable area. Upstairs is a lovely sofa area with large TV and little balcony. We enjoyed spending the evenings chatting upstairs (without disturbing the children sleeping downstairs). We walked over to the large lake and enjoyed watching the swans. Thank you for a lovely weekend!

  • "Excellent facilities in spotless condition, it certainly has a wow factor!"

! The layout of the building works really well for groups and families having a get together. The kitchen is well equipped and the grounds and walks available from the Mill were an added bonus. There is so much to see and do in the area to keep everybody happy. Can not praise it enough, just go and try it yourself!

  • "Just come back from spending a week at the Old Mill."

We usually stay in the Old Dairy but needed more space this year. The layout of the accommodation is first class. All three bedrooms are in the downstairs area. One bedroom has its own en-suite. The upstairs lounge area overlooks the fantastic kitchen which is well equipped. Off the lounge area is a small balcony with seating. From this balcony there are lovely views towards the fields and the lake. A lovely place to sit and read whilst enjoying the peace and quiet. There is the use of a BBQ which we took advantage of using in the sunny weather. A very good welcome pack was left for us by Ben and Kelly the owners. A variety of toys for my grandson to use during our stay was also greatly appreciated. The two dogs Ruby and Buster enjoyed many walks around the fields and lake every day.

  • "The Old Mill is just perfect."

We have just returned from a week's stay and we are so pleased we found this place. You really won't be disappointed if you stay here! The owners Ben & Kelly were great, so helpful and accommodating. We had contacted with them a couple of times before our holiday and nothing was too much trouble. We were met by Ben on arrival and his introduction to the property was great. The welcome pack was just so kind & thoughtful, we really appreciated it. The property is well equipped and perfectly caters for children. This is a beautiful, peaceful, safe location. It's a perfect location for visiting so many places. We went to Gloucester, Cotswolds- Bibury (beautiful!!), Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-World, all worth a visit - can't beat the Cotswolds. We also went to to Cotswold Park Farm, great day out for the kiddies, highly recommended! We also went on the GWR steam train trip too, again definitely recommended. To eat out locally, we can certainly say both The Red Hart in Blaisdon and The White Hart in Newnham were super! Good food, very friendly and accommodating. Make sure you are hungry though! Ben and Kelly, thank you again and hopefully we'll be back one day!

  • "I booked the Old Mill for the first bank holiday weekend in May."

It seemed the perfect place to take my wife and son, sister-in-law and her family, and my father-in-law to celebrate my wife's 30th birthday. The Old Mill sits in an enclosed compound which sits on a very large acreage in a hamlet named Flaxley. Given my sister-in-law has a two-year-old daughter, it was a perfect place for her to run about without us having to worry about what she was up to. When she fell backwards off a picnic bench and smacked her head off the stone pavement the owner, Ben, brought a small child's bench for her to use. We also arrived back from a few long walks to find extra toys awaiting us, which I believe is conduct above and beyond. Ben and Kelly were the most accommodating and inviting hosts and I can't say enough about them. I suppose mentioning that we will be making the Old Mill an annual weekend away should suffice. If you have a family and want a safe, beautiful place to get away I can't recommend it highly enough.
