"The most perfect little cottage with tons of character."
We loved our stay here and the children loved the quirkiness of the rooms being on different levels. The beds were extremely comfortable and the addition of a tv in the main bedroom was a real treat. Only a couple of minor points, no towels in the master bedroom on arrival, the tap in the en suite leaks constantly - I dread to think the amount of water being wasted! The outside chairs need replacing as there are holes in nearly all of them rendering them useless. Although sitting up there in sunshine was wonderful - the most perfect sun trap. The kitchenware could do with updating also. Other than that, we would definitely stay here again. The location is excellent, great for local walks but also for exploring the Cotswolds. The local pub (less than a 5min walk) was also excellent in every way and well worth a visit. Thank you!
Thank you for your lovely comments on Ellen Cottage, we apologise that there were no towels in the master bedroom. We will pass the comments to the owner regarding the garden chairs and the tap. We are pleased to hear you loved your stay and would love to welcome back to the Cotswolds in the future. Manor Cottages Property Owner

"We had a lovely stay and the cottage is nice but for a child this cottage was challenging with the numerous stairs leading from the living room and there being no stair gates in place."
We had an issue with the wifi not working for 2 days, although once we were able to speak to the Management Company it was quickly resolved. There is no phone signal at all in the cottage which some may find a bit frustrating and, due to the stone walls, the Bluetooth signal was poor which was an issue for us as we had a baby monitor that relies on Bluetooth. The kitchen is well stocked but lacks a coffee machine which nowadays is fairly standard (particular for the 5* rating and price tag) and the glasses supplied within the kitchen were limited being either a pint or a wine glass - nothing for a G&T! There were no chest of drawers in any of the bedrooms which was frustrating when you have clothes for a week to keep neat and tidy. The cottage is located on a fairly quiet road albeit there is some hefty traffic that thunders down the road at an early hour which did wake us. Burford is a lovely, beautiful town which offers a lot as does the local area. We will return to the area but perhaps not to this cottage, sadly.
We're pleased to hear you had a lovely stay at the cottage and enjoyed exploring the beautiful Burford! Apologies, for the issues you experienced with the wifi - this has now been rectified and we hope your stay was not heavily impacted by this. We do not have coffee machines in every property as a standard item. We do however have cafetieres. There should have been tumblers in the property so we are very sorry that these were not reported as missing before your stay as we would have rectified immediately. We will also look into whether having more storage for clothing is a possibility. Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback - we'd love to welcome you back to the Cotswolds again in the future! "Had a great stay in this cottage."
The only comment of recommendation of change, is to allow people to enter the property earlier. As 6pm is quite late and 10am a little too early to leave, when you’ve had a lovely time
We're so pleased that you had a lovely time at the cottage. Yes, 6pm is a little on the late side but we are maintaining this later check-in to ensure that housekeepers have ample time to carry out a Covid-safe clean. Property Owner

"The cottage itself was great."
Very comfortable. Unfortunately the internet went down due to an area fault. However once it was fixed in the area, the system in the cottage was not re booted so I had no internet for the rest of the stay. Also, there was a leak from one of the bathroom sinks so i couldn’t use it until the plumbers came in to fix it. These were both unfortunate events that hopefully would not normally happen.
We're very sorry to hear that you had difficulty with wifi and plumbing during your stay. We have no rectified both of these issues and hope that your stay was no impacted by these unfortunate issues. Property Owner

About the location
BURFORD
Swinbrook 2.4 miles; Little Barrington 3.5 miles; Minster Lovell 5.6 miles.
Burford is possibly one of, if not the most famous of the Cotswolds' locations. With its medieval bridge, old stone houses and attractive Tudor and Georgian frontages, it is justifiably one of the most picturesque towns in England. Often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds', the town was originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon ford which later grew to be an important regional crossroads and wealthy wool town. Located midway between Oxford and Cheltenham, it is a little haven of history and beauty that many come to fall in love with when they visit. The 16th century Tolsey building, once the meeting place for medieval merchants, now houses The Tolsey Museum, a delightful local museum illustrating the town's social and industrial past. The church is stunning, a real gem architecturally with many interesting memorials charting some of Burford's great families. There is also the signature, on the baptisimal font, of Antony Sedley, one of the Levellers besieged in the church in 1649 - three of the ringleaders were executed by Oliver Cromwell's men in the churchyard. History awaits! With little change over the centuries, Burford is now very popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for its shopping and antiques, and for the wide variety of places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and tea shops. It is an ideal base for visiting The Cotswolds area as it is within easy driving distance of popular attractions such as Blenheim Palace, Sudeley Castle, Warwick Castle and several National Trust Houses and Gardens. Bourton on the Water, Bibury, Cirencester and Stow on the Wold are all within ten miles.
