"A really nice comfortable cottage in a superb location - lovely garden which we were able to sit and enjoy lunch in."
Being able to walk in the enchanting private little arboretum is a real bonus. It is a shame that the the kitchen wasn't a little better equipped - a decent frying pan and bottle opener area surely should be a must in a holiday cottage. Likewise please replace the tiny television - the screen was the size of many computer screens.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a constructive feedback, we are delighted you enjoyed your stay and made use of the Garden as we were lucky with the weather. we will take your comments into consideration and have another look at the kitchen equipment and will speak to the owner about the TV size. we look forward to welcoming you again soon Property Owner

"Really lovely cottage, very clean, the only draw back was it was stated dog friendly."
But there was about five fence panels lying on the floor. So could not let dogs out in the garden. These panels had been down a long time. Also the entrance gate was hanged of its hinges and big gaps for smaller dogs to get through. There is a main road not far so was a nightmare with two dogs . They escaped first day and had to go two fields to get them back . So from then they had to go on leads to go in the garden. But saying that the cottage was very clean and nice regards Raymond
Thank you for taking the time to leave a constructive feedback, we will definitely put your comments into consideration and will ask our maintenance men to go and make it more dog friendly for future guests, we apologise for any difficulties you faced with your dogs, and delighted you enjoyed the property, we look forward to welcome you again soon. The location is ideal and we did lots of walking straight from the doorstep. Longborough is a beautiful little village snd just down the lane. The cottage was spacious and we’d definitely stay again. Our only complaint would be that both the double mattresses were uncomfortable.

"Very disappointed with the cleanliness especially as we are in the middle of a pandemic."
The floors had not been mopped (filthy) & cobwebs in some places. The sofas has not been moved & hoovered beneath & they too needed a wipe over. Beds & bathroom were clean - although dressing table needed a wipe over too as sticky marks. Overall it should have been better! No bleach or disinfectant about …should have smelt like it has been cleaned properly. Nice cottage, lovely location, but is tired.

It’s a bit dated, but that’s part of its charm. Excellent modern shower. Beds comfortable. Kitchen adequate for basic cooking. Good parking for several cars. We went in November but could see in the summer the garden would be lovely. Heating very effective throughout.

"We had a wonderful stay here, the house is in a very quiet location, and is perfectly placed for exploring the cotswolds."
There is good parking facilities, it's nice and warm with a great shower. Everything was very clean and easy to use. The only drawbacks were the following, I hope you will find this feedback helpful....the very big lounge has a tiny TV, needs a bigger one! The cooker is looking worn out and the seal is breaking around the oven, so needs updating. My partner and I personally found the beds to be too firm for a comfortable night's sleep and the housekeeper should run a hoover under the beds as it's getting a bit dusty down there. The pub and shop is about 20 mins walk away, the pub can be accessed down a long lane and then it's a couple of fields walk (food was good) , the shop is great and I can reccomend the cafe quich, however you do need to navigate getting over a busy A road to get there walking and you need to walk on the green verge as there is no pathway, would be challenging for someone with limited mobility, however I guess they could drive.
Thank you so much for your feedback. We will pass your suggestions onto the owner and would love to welcome you back anytime in the future. Property Owner

"Excellent website and app - allows you to countdown to your holiday which we liked!"
Very easy to navigate and pay. Queries were dealt with swiftly.
The house itself is nestled down a lane, altho Longborough itself is a 10 minute walk away - the pub does an excellent Sunday lunch and is very welcoming! There is also a small community shop open every morning which supplies basics.
The house is large & comfortable. It’s a little bit dated but it is scrupulously clean - which is so important while COVID is still with us.
We used the heating and it warmed the house well - the hot water seemed to run out very quickly though which we reported. I suspect it warms up overnight and is available very early (7-8am) but on hols we were not showering until 10/11 so you may want to reset the timings!!
The showers worked well tho - as did all the appliances we used.
Disappointed we didn’t have wood for an open fire - but the lounge is cosy and the sofas are very comfortable.
Overall, an excellent holiday - we visited 4 National Trust properties during our week as well as Blenheim Palace - which is definitely worth the 40 minute drive!

"Beds were very comfortable and rooms nice."
It was quite difficult to turn down the heating which was set at 20C, far too hot.
There was no sanitising spray to clean taps, door knobs etc which we were told there would be.
We found the arboretum very sad, it was obviously founded by a man who loved trees in dedication to 100 years of Cotswold craftsmanship, and has been allowed to deteriorate and become overgrown; many of the specimen trees have died as a result, maybe it should be put in the hands of someone who will look after it.
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear you had issues with the heating. We do have a 24 hour emergency number that you can call with any issues, so sorry you felt you could not contact on this occasion. We will speak to the owner regarding the Arboretum. Manor Cottages Property Owner

"This was a very pleasant stay in a lovely area of the Cotswolds."
The cottage was spacious with a generous lounge, lovely fireplace, comfortable beds and a large bathroom. The kitchen appears small in comparison to the size of the other rooms, but it was perfectly useable. We had become a little nervous having seen a previous review listing several snags. However, we contacted Sykes in advance and they were very responsive; they kept in touch over phone and email and looked into all the issues that had been raised, further letting us know how they had been remedied. I cannot fault their level of service. The photos of the cottage were accurate, there were plenty of blankets and there were tea bags and dishwasher tabs already there. All in all, we had a lovely stay and I would recommend the cottage to future visitors.

"Windy ridge cottage was in an ideal location for exploring the Cotswolds."
However the cottage needs some tlc!! Our first impressions on the approach to the cottage was the unkempt appearance of the garden. We understand that gardens can look untidy at this time of year but this looked like it had been pretty much untouched ! The kitchen was well equipped but there was Black mould on the pipe work and the tumble drier didn’t work. The boot room (where our dogs slept) was also rather unclean with a disused fridge freezer with a very mouldy interior . Views from the windows were of an overgrown ‘paddock’ with rubbish lying around. The rest of the cottage was comfortable and we had ‘just’ enough logs for the first evening. There was no information as to where we could purchase logs for the next 2 nights. The shower was very slow to empty causing water to overflow the tray. The switch on the hairdryer was also broken. This cottage could be stunning . It’s a lovely accommodation which is in need of a revamp. It is also classed as dog friendly but with no outside tap/hose we were constantly struggling to cope with the mud they acquired on our daily walks . We wouldn’t consider bringing muddy dogs into our own house let alone someone else’s . Walking boots created a similar issue.

"The place was just what we needed a lovely catch up with friends and family but more fire wood would have been good as we had some big pieces and would not fit in the fire place."
Also some areas needed a better clean like behind the beds and the photos frames very dusty .The main shower head needed de-scaling or a new one
Also we wanted to use the coffee pot which had old mouldy coffee inside also in the kitchen pots which also had coffee and sugar were years old!!
Shame the grounds and tennis court we found has been left and over grown this place has a look more potential and nick the owner was friendly with his dog.

"The cottage was lovely - everything as described in the write up."
The kitchen is quite small, but big enough for at least 2 to be cooking at one time.
The bedrooms are lovely and plenty of room for 6 of us.
The only thing is the directions state turning opposite at the Coach & Horses pub on the A424 - however, the pub is no longer there and the sign has been taken off the outside.
The sat nav takes you directly to the cottage, so just ignore the directions given.
We will definitely be booking again.

"The listing mentions a basic kitchen and it is clear from the pictures it is not luxurious, in reality it is fine except for the cooker."
That is beyond a joke. don't go along thinking you are going to have a roast meal, we had to increase cooking time on lamb by 25%, gave up on roast potatoes and cut them up and fried and put cauliflour cheese in the microwave. The hob quite often stayed on even when the knobs were turned back to zero. We turned it off at the wall to be safe. Absolute joke and should be replaced immediately. The house is clean and comfortable other than that, although it can be quite dark and a little cold even in August. Not sure why pictures are included of a garden you have no access to. Arboretum was useful for a quick dog walk first thing. Coach and Horses pub is accessed via a public foothpath a couple of minutes walk from the house. A lovely foothpath to and from the pub. Great location to access Stow, Broadway, Chipping Campden, Northleach, Bibury etc. We had a lovely week of sun and did a lot of walking, not 100% sure what you would do if the weather wasn't so good

"The photographs on the cottage listing of the garden are misleading as they are of the house next door which is not part of the estate as this has been privately sold - the new owner was very clear about that."
The garden for the cottage however was still pleasant and it was fully enclosed which was perfect for our dogs. The cottage itself is very spacious and had everything we could possibly need from extra bedding, towels, kitchen utensils to an extra bed and games, books and puzzles. The area doesn’t have much to do but it’s only a 10 minute drive to Stow/Bourton on the Water with plenty of activities to do. The local pub Coach and Horses did a lovely roast dinner on Sunday but wasn’t so good for mid week (it wasn’t home cooked food) lovely wine and local larger.
The estate arboretum is a lovely short walk, it was overgrown but on meeting the owner during a walk there he explained it was due to be cut back shortly, it wasn’t an unpleasant walk though - very quiet and peaceful. The property was clean when we arrived although some extra attention is needed to things like the blinds in the bathrooms which both have mould on and things like the shower head which need a deep clean.
Lots of space to put dirty boots and coats out of the way from the house which was perfect after some drizzly weather.

"Windy ridge is a delightful property and we had a thoroughly lovely holiday."
It's location is convenient for lots of amenities and days out. We enjoyed the garden in the evenings and the local pub the Coach and Horses which serves excellent food. It is not my intention to criticise. If I had to point out a couple of things: there didn't appear to be a guest book for guests to write their experience of their stay at the house, the bed pillows were a little uncomfortable, and the electric cooker took a long time to heat up, probably due to it's age. Overall we would stay again at Windy Ridge.

"Lovely house in a wonderful environment."
The location is beautiful and very peaceful. The house is well furnished with the necessary amenities.
A few downsides: barely wifi range in the living room and cooking fire and oven were not working properly.
The weather was fine for the end of April but it was rather cold. It was therefore less nice that the heating was automatically set, so we did not get the house warmed during the day.

"Three weeks before our holiday we read a damning review of this property & were hence very worried about going."
Having spoken to Kerry about my concerns she investigated what had happened and reported back to me that things had been put right and hopefully our holiday won’t be spoilt.
On arrival we were blown away, it was just as idyllic as the pictures, lovely and spacious, the kitchen possibly was a bit “basic” but it served our purpose. We particularly welcomed the milk tea and biscuits provided after our long drive and the basket full of logs and kindling for the fire.
