    “Stunning Cottage & Great Location”

We chose this place for a short autumn get away. ...

We chose this place for a short autumn get away. The cottage itself is absolutely lovely. Set on the first floor up a short flight of stairs, it opens into an open plan kitchen/ dining area with a comfy sofa and log burner (logs supplied). It is all very well equipped with films to watch, board games, books etc. The kitchen is superbly well equipped so if you want to cook it won’t be an issue, although be warned there are no supermarkets or shops within walking distance so you will need to bring supplies or head out into town. The bedroom has a comfortable king size bed and the bathroom has a hot powerful shower. Perfect after a long walk! The local village is lovely, there are a couple of local pubs which are nice and both within 5-10 mins walk, both do food but we only ate at the Hostelry which was nice. There are some amazing walks locally. We did a beautiful long autumn walk following the riverbank to Symonds Yat rock. We also took our bikes to the Forest of Dean which is 10-15 mins drive away for another lovely day out. I would highly recommend a walk up Coppets hill behind the village for great views of the village, castle and river. Overall, whether you’re active and want to be outdoors or just want to loaf about, relax and chill then this place is for you! The hosts live in the adjacent house, and are very pleasant and helpful. We didn’t see much of them as we were out all day but I’m sure they would be happy to help and point you in the right direction if required!

This lovely, quaint village stands on the banks of the River Wye, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the wonderful Wye Valley, and borders the Royal Forest of Dean. The famous Goodrich Castle is situated within the village, a perfect example of a 12th century “Marcher Castle”. Nestling amidst the village’s picturesque houses are the delightful village hall, friendly shop and two friendly pubs serving good food. Close by, overlooking a large loop in the River Wye, is the historic market town of Ross-on-Wye, in the heart of rural Herefordshire.
