  • "The house was very run down and tatty."

Paint coming off the walls, taps broken, the conservatory windows had condensation streaming down them. We had an issue with a hot tap which we could not turn off and we had to get somebody out to fix it on a Sunday. There wasn't any welcome pack with instructions on what the wifi code was or where the router was. It was a case of hunting around to find things. I work in luxury property and I expected a bit more from this, as the cottage was not cheap to rent. The grounds and location of the house is beautiful but the cottage itself was disappointing.

  • "Great weekend with our family of all ages in this very spacious and comfortable property."

Fabulous views of the Cotswold hills especially enjoyed from the hot tub. Owners very helpful and on hand if necessary. Great experience and privilege to see racehorses on the gallops. Definitely recommend.

Thank you for your wonderful comments regarding your stay at Mucky Cottage. It's an amazing place to stay and the location is second to none, like you we love to see the horses in the distance. We hope you managed to explore the Cotswolds and had a lovely time. We would love to welcome you again soon. Property Owner

  • "What an idyllic place to ring in the new year!"

Mucky Cottage is within easy reach of London and the Midlands, and yet feels like it's in the middle of nowhere. It's a perfect slice of country life, and with ample bedrooms and bathrooms, it makes a perfect venue for a relaxed escape with friends or family. Highly recommended!

  • "A lovely big house with spacious bedrooms and a well equipped kitchen in a beautiful location."

Peaceful and quiet with fantastic views. Despite the heavy rain seven children entertained themselves in your spacious garden. Who needs a trampoline and swings when there’s a rugby ball, puddles and amazing trees to climb in! Hot tub was a big hit with everyone House does need a little TLC, fixtures and furnishings are quite dated. However, we have enjoyed celebrating 3/50 birthdays. Will return again in the near future.

  • "The house is great."

The host were available and very welcoming. Plenty of space downstairs even for big group. Garden is very big. Not really anything that you can walk to, but everything is a very short ride away.

Once you’ve got well acquainted with the internal rooms, head to the extensive grounds that cover around half an acre, which boasts panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and is mostly lawn, with a patio area bordering the orangery dining area, where you can sit and enjoy the fresh country air.

A luxurious hot tub sits on the other side where you can immerse yourself in the bubbles and a sunken patio beneath a beautiful pergola sits a little way from the property and provides a second seating area and a barbecue for you to make use of when the weather allows.

The Black Horse Inn is just 0.8 miles from your doorstep where you can enjoy the pleasant ambience and home-made, locally sourced food and drinks.

A short car ride will put you in Bourton-on-the-Water, which is often referred to as the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’ due to the low arched bridges that cross over the River Windrush, an array of shops and attractions can be found here such as Cotswold Motoring Museum & Toy Collection and The Model Village which is a mini replica of the village itself, and Greystones Farm & Nature Reserve which is home to wildflower meadows and a working organic farm; offering time out from the hustle and bustle of the village centre.
