Very welcoming, quiet and comfortable and also very spacious for our party of four. Beds very comfortable and two excellent bathrooms with additional downstairs loo.. Very well thought-out design and excellent for our needs Lovely garden perfect for our dog and for relaxing in sunshine. Perfect position for a short stroll to the friendly nearby pub which serves delicious food and a short drive to an outstanding country gastro-pub and in easy reach of many Cotswolds gems. • "The Small House was absolutely perfect for our visit."

We are a group of friends who love nothing better than sitting round with a brew or a wine and having a good chat- which we were able to do throughout our stay in the cosy comfort of the lounge. The fixtures and fittings are much higher quality than you might expect in a holiday home, with the most comfortable beds in the world! When we stayed the weather was COLD but despite being an old stone cottage, the heating and the Aga kept us warm. We would recommend the Small House to anyone wishing to explore the Cotswolds, with Bourton on the Water only a few minutes drive away.

  • "The Small House was a fantastic base for our week long break."

The house was just as described, a characterful, comfortable from the 17th century. Although it's clearly an old building all of the fittings and features were modern and worked perfectly, without compromising the houses character. This was especially true of the kitchen and two bathrooms. The garden is beautiful and our two dogs loved it! The village doesn't have a shop, but does have a fantastic pub just a very short walk from the house. The owner, Sarah, was very helpful and easy to contact. There are numerous walks available starting from the village. They give great access to the Rissingtons, Bourton on the water etc. Great house, I would highly recommend it to anyone.

  • "We had a wonderful week in The Small House."

For us, a group of female friends from Germany, it was exactly what we expected a countryside cottage to be - historic, cosy, with beautiful but state of the art interior. We especially enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen and beautiful garden and many nice little bits and pieces like extra-comfy blankets on the sofas, a welcome package including sparkling wine, Molton-Brown-toiletries etc. When we had a minor problem in one bedroom which was definitely not Sarah´s fault she even send some chocolates around for our inconvenience. Additionally, Great Rissington is perfectly located for seeing the beautiful Cotswolds villages and surrounding towns. We hope to come back!

  • "On locating the cottage we drove past twice and ended up parking in the road and walking along to find it due to the fact that the name plate was almost invisible when we eventually found it on the pillar, and didnt want to drive on to the wrong property ."

I would definitely change that name plate which is covered in foliage. There needs to be more lighting on the ceilings in the living room and the kitchen, similar to the dining room. There were comments in the visitors book regarding this, as it was far too dark in those rooms. The cottage overall was lovely, although you could not walk up the steps at the back in the garden as they badly needed trimming back, not a problem for us as the weather was not good anyway.

Thank you for the feedback Valerie. It is a cottage built in 1670, with mullion windows . We don't like large ceiling lights, more of a cosy cottage feel with side lights and lamps .There is additional lighting under the recess above the Aga and under the cooker hood in. the kitchen. Point noted re the name plate , we will cut the climbing Hydrangea back. best Sarah Property Owner

The house is clean, warm, comfortable and everything you will need for an easy holiday has been supplied. The welcome basket was much appreciated. Our rescue collie made herself so at home, sleeping happily on her bed downstairs and introducing herself to a dog walking neighbour, that it seemed like she had been there before! The weather was not good enough to enjoy the garden but it is a lovely space. The little house feels more like a loved home than a holiday let, the duvets and bed linens were first class and the shower was wonderful we all had a wonderful week's sleep. The kitchen was lovely and had everything we needed, it helped massively that there were some supplies in the larder. The dining room, table beautifully laid upon arrival, was a bonus. The village has no shop but popping into Bourton in November was easy enough and Ocado delivery to the house was very successful. As we left my husband was saying he'd like to return, all in all a great holiday.

I have to say that the TV was a disappointment. The complicated set up really needed someone much younger to master the system in the limited time we had. I have a Sky system at home and have had for many years since Sky started up and I was one of their "Pioneers" so I am not an idiot by any means but that system nearly drove me to distraction. I think some mention of the isolation of the property from any shops should be mentioned as I had to drive 3+ miles every morning to get newspapers. Peter Norton

Village is very quiet with a friendly welcome awaiting in the local inn... Only two very minor gripes; we're not sure guests, who are not particularly tech-savvy, get on with Now TV for terrestrial TV channels (as there seems to be no TV aerial?) and the patio area of the garden could do with a proper sweep or spring-clean...maybe with the onset of spring this maybe on the agenda anyway... Set in an idyllic location with far reaching views, walks from the doorstep and within easy access of neighbouring towns like Bourton-on-the-Water it’s an ideal base for exploring the area. The owners do ask that you strip beds & take out the rubbish on the day of departure, ahead of a 10AM early check out. We were happy to do this but if we were to make one comment it would be to perhaps allow for a slightly later check out to reflect the request and make things a little less rushed for guests.
