Norton House & Cottages

Three characterful cottages resting amongst the majestic surroundings of Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, hidden away in the pretty village of Whitchurch. Each property enjoys a flexible sleeping arrangement, allowing groups of families and friends to come together to enjoy all that this part of the country has to offer, including the nearby, enchanting Royal Forest of Dean. In each of the properties, you will be delighted by the spacious layout containing everything you could possibly need for a self-catered stay, as well as private gardens, so that you can enjoy your rural settings in peace or with all of your loved ones gathered around a sizzling barbeque during a summers evening. Whilst you are here, be sure to take a stroll to the local shop and café, which offers homemade, locally sourced produce or try a meal at the local pub if you do not feel like cooking one evening. From here, a multitude of scenic walks can be enjoyed across the Wye Valley AONB, while the quaint village of Symond's Yat is just a stone's throw away. Also nearby are the popular market towns of Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye, both exude character and offer a range of things to see and do. A short walk away from the cottages is a butterfly zoo and maze, or if you are feeling adventurous, hire a canoe and discover the wonderful River Wye. Other nearby attractions that guests of all ages and tastes can enjoy includes the outdoor activities in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. Here, you can choose to participate in horseback riding, abseiling, caving or explore the numerous cycle routes. Other things to do include, Symonds Yat Rock, Clearwell Caves, Puzzlewood and the historic towns of Ledbury, Hereford and Gloucester. You will find this superb, detached Grade II listed farmhouse in centre of the pretty village of Whitchurch.

This spacious holiday accommodation in Herefordshire is the ideal base in which to bring all of your loved ones together to explore the wonder of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Inside, you will be delighted to find a well-presented cottage, which has retained many of its farmhouse features and all the essentials to enjoy a self-catered stay.

On the ground floor, you will find a selection of two sitting rooms, which both house a roaring woodburning stove and TV, perfect for those relaxing evenings in, as well as a welcoming snug room and a sunroom.

Look forward to rustling up delicious home-cooked recipes in the farmhouse kitchen, where the AGA takes centre stage before all of the amenities.

Upstairs you will find five bedrooms over a further two floors that enjoy differing set ups to offer an arrangement to suit the needs of your group.

Choose between three king-size bedrooms with their own en-suites, a twin bedroom with its own en-suite, which shares a bathroom with another twin bedroom.

To the outside, there is an external laundry room with washing machines and bike storage, as well as gardens to the front, side and rear of the property, with a pond and stream running through the front, a small patio area with furniture at the side of the property and a private rear garden with lawn and patio, furniture and a barbecue you can light up of an evening and catch the final glimpses of sun.

Symonds Yat 0.5 miles; Monmouth 4 miles; Ross-on-Wye 7 miles.

The village of Whitchurch lies between the small market towns of Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth, on the edge of the Royal Forest of Dean. Boasting lovely walks in every direction, Whitchurch has a thriving village shop and coffee shop selling locally sourced products, a pub and a restaurant. Just a short distance away is Symonds Yat, a pretty Herefordshire village, which straddles the River Wye, home to the magnificent natural limestone rock popular with wildlife enthusiasts and climbers, as well as a Butterfly Farm and Maze. The Royal Forest of Dean, England's largest oak forest and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, boasts many outdoor activities, including horseback riding, abseiling, caving, numerous cycle routes and a high wire rope course. Other activities on offer for the less energetic include fishing, golf and kayaking to name just a few. Close by is the pretty village of Goodrich with its 12th century Marcher Castle, village shop and two pubs both serving good food. The historic town of Monmouth is well worth a visit with its mixture of Georgian mansions and Victorian courtyards, while the riverside town of Ross-on-Wye has many timbered Tudor buildings, riverside walks and excellent shops, pubs and restaurants. Day trips can be enjoyed to the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons National Park, the unspoilt Malvern Hills, Hereford and Hay-on-Wye.
