“This is one of the worst equipped cottages I have ever stayed in - and we self cater for about 4 weeks a year.”
No washing up basin or liquid. Nothing to clean pots with - just a square of J-cloth for a week. Bath towels but no hand towels. No cheese grater, wooden spoon or spatula. NO WAY TO MAKE COFFEE! Very cheap crockery. No hair dryer. No mirrors in the bedrooms. No electric sockets in the bedroom. Lights in the living room so faint it was very hard to read. A "welcome" pack so mean it would have been better not to leave it: two teabags, six cheap supermarket packet biscuits, about 100ml of milk in a tiny jog. No table mats or coasters, so we tore up cardboard packaging to use rather than damage the furniture. A very small TV that looked ridiculous in the large, double-height room. No cleaning materials. No mop so I couldn't take muddy boot marks off their tiled floor.
Lots of notes about how we could either pay extra to use the pool or feed the animals, or would be charged extra if we checked out late or mislaid a key
Everything about this property screamed, "How little money can we spend; how much money can we make?" And it was NOT a cheap property to rent.
