Perfect location if you want to just chill out right on the Wye Valley Walk into the forest. Also as a mountain biker lived the tracks and being on the doorstep of The Forest of Dean. This lovely cottage which has been beautifully converted into a holiday home had everything we needed and so cozy. Will definitely go again that’s if we can go a free week as the cottage is getting booked up! Neither of us wanted to come home and felt so relaxed and recharged. We spent our mornings watching the birds and my they eat a lot of seeds and nuts! No internet and not much phone reception but we went to getaway from everything so perfect. Thoroughly recommend this place and area can’t wait to go back

The Old Cider Mill is as its name implies a converted cider mill barn and is ideally located near the quiet village of The Narth near Llandogo in a secluded location with stunning views down the valley.

With direct access to the Wye Valley walk, the cottage is set in a one acre meadow with an adjoining spinney.

From the top of the meadow there are stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside across the River Wye and towards St Briavels.

Where better to sit and enjoy a glass of wine after a busy day's cycling, walking and exploring?

Very comfortably furnished throughout the cottage provides a fantastic romantic retreat, ideal for couples searching for a tranquil base in this lovely Monmouthshire countryside.

This cosy cottage includes an open plan living area with a crackling woodburning stove for spending those chilly evenings in cuddled up with your favourite film or book.

The well-equipped kitchen has a dining area and is waiting for you to prepare your meals after your days’ activities.

This is where the old cider mill was once worked by a small pony.

On the first floor, which was originally the apple loft, the mezzanine bedroom is open to the living area and will provide a restful night's sleep.

Outside is a sunny gravelled courtyard and access to the meadow and spinney, ideal for relaxing at any time of the day and bird lovers can sit back and relax whilst watching the many species that will join you.

There is also an outside tap for washing down muddy dogs, boots and bikes.

This area is full of many walks and cycle routes and for those feeling energetic canoeing, fishing and golf are on your doorstep.

For a quieter day you can visit the market towns of Monmouth or Chepstow which offer an abundance of charming tea rooms, individual shops and restaurants.

About the location

TRELLECH

Monmouth 6 miles; Chepstow 10.6 miles; Ross-on-Wye 16 miles.

The beautiful village of Trellech is located in the picturesque Wye Valley, close to Ross-on-Wye, Monmouth, Llandogo and Tintern with its famous Abbey ruins. The village derives its name from the three standing stones, known as 'Harold's Stones', and was once one of the largest towns in Wales, hence its wonderful church. The history of the village draws many to visit the three stones as well as the Virtuous Well and the Tump Turret, a 40 foot mound which dates back to Norman times and is known to be the remains of a motte and bailey castle. Outstanding walks are enjoyed by all, whether to explore the history of the area or just take in the magnificent countryside. Pop into the village pub or enjoy a picnic along the way. The surrounding area gives you the option to explore more history at Tintern Abbey and Raglan Castle, visit beautiful Ross-on-Wye or enjoy cycle rides in this most scenic part of Wales. The South Wales coast is only 50 minutes’ away and there are easy road links to Bristol and Cardiff and all of their attractions. A perfectly peaceful location for wonderful holidays.
