  • "Lovely courtyard to sit in, with a private garden at the rear with cooking apple trees within - very tasty!"

! Nearby Bourton-on-the-Water is V busy at this time of year. No social distancing being observed at all. Lower Slaughter Inn (north east of Bourton off the A429) is very good for a lunch etc.

  • "Actually it is our second time at this cottage so we did know what to expect."

We will certainly book again. We didn’t want to come home. We had fantastic weather which helped and meant we could take advantage of the tennis courts , barbecue and surrounding countryside. Love the dogs who are all friendly. Robert wasn’t around during our week but friend Maggie was a lovely substitute host. We appreciated the new freezer as the extra space was really helpful. Also nice new shower upstairs which was lovely. Would appreciate some door hooks for hanging up dressing gown or towel when in the bathroom. Thanks for everything!

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay at The Court Yard Cottage. It's lovely to hear you have returned after another stay with us, we must be doing something right!. We hope to welcome you back again in the future and ill let the owner now about your suggestion of the hooks. Property Owner

  • "We had a fantastic time."

The cottage and grounds were beautiful. Nice little touches like milk, tea bags awaited us. Lovely quality bed linen. The children loved seeing the horses and our dogs enjoyed the free rein of the grounds and playing with the owner’s dogs. Robert was very welcoming. Would definitely recommend.

  • "What a lovely cottage."

I think the small little touches such as: milk, bread, wine, mince pies etc was just so thoughtful and something we’ve not had elsewhere. The cottage is truly a cosy place to stay, very clean and perfect for our Christmas. We loved going to see the horses! Bourton on the Water is literally just down the road, so the Coop is literally a quick dash for food and petrol. The location was perfect and we loved our time here. We would thoroughly recommend.

  • "We were very pleased with the cottage which was set in very beautiful surroundings."

It was also very nice of the owner to provide a welcome pack with butter, milk, bread and other niceties. The kids were very please that we had good WiFi, which was faster than at home and had endless hours of fun on the tennis courts. Would definitely recommend this cottage.

  • "A lovely, restful place for a quiet week's break."

Very comfortable, a great layout inside and all the facilities we needed (two couples and a toddler). Ideally located for exploring the centre of the Cotswolds with Bourton-on-the Water less than a mile away, but sufficiently away from the holiday crowds, and lots of interesting places to visit within 30 minutes. We hadn't picked up on the cottage being within the grounds of the owner's larger property. This was not a problem, in fact was a plus as more secure (all properties accessed via secure gate), knowing anyone on hand if we needed anything (although we didn't) and a lovely family feel with horses and very calm and friendly family dogs close at hand. We'd highly recommend.

  • "Loved the open-plan feel of the cottage which gave us plenty of space."

Lovely comfy beds. Great location for visiting local towns and villages. We were spoilt for choice as to where to go. Wonderful walks and great to have a tennis court too. We would certainly like to return. Our welcome pack was great. On the down side and if I'm being picky we could have done with a bigger fridge and freezer and some better oven gloves. However this did not spoil the wonderful time we had.

  • "We had a wonderful family reunion in a lovely cottage."

The only criticism would be that the third bedroom is really very small.

  • "The cottage was very homely rather than feeling like rented accommodation."

The selection of shopping left in the fridge was a lovely surprise and not one we expected ( unless I missed it when getting the information) it really made a difference to the welcome we felt.

  • "Attractive cottage, beautiful surroundings, close to many Cotswold attractions and towns."

\ \ \ Ms Miles, October 2012\ \ \ The setting, the weather and the cottage made it a very enjoyable weekend. We were able to take our meals in the peaceful setting of the courtyard.

    Mr Whelpton

  • "The cottage could be slightly improved in the kitchen ie, some more utensils (toast rack for eg) plus an information book (info on nearest Vet, Doctor, shops)."

Apart from that everything else was brilliant, Emerald our Irish Setter was made very welcome and the cottage was suitably catered for for her, enclosed gardens, and safe surroundings.

  • "A lovely cottage in a lovely location."

We enjoyed our stay greatly and our 2 year old really enjoyed the free roaming chicken and the owners horses. The owner mentioned that he was hoping to install double doors from the dining room into the private garden and I think that would be a big improvement as that room was rather dark. The kitchen was very well equipped and the cottage felt very spacious. The owner's children were very kind and our son loved being invited to stroke their horses and Jasper's old toy tractor he got out for him!

BOURTON-ON-THE-WATER

Stow-on-the-Wold 4 miles; Moreton-in-Marsh 8 miles; Chipping Norton 13 miles; Cheltenham 15.5 miles.

Located in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the historic village of Bourton-on-the-Water dates back to Neolithic times with over 100 buildings being Grade II listed or higher. The picturesque high street nestles alongside the River Windrush over which several low stone bridges span, which is why Bourton-on-the-Water is known as the Venice in the Cotswolds. Tradition states that an annual football match is played in the summer, in the River Windrush with the banks lined with spectators, with the aim to score as many goals as possible and get as wet as possible! The village has an eclectic range of visitor attractions, including The Model Village, Cotswold Motor Museum, Birdland Park and Gardens as well as a Dragonfly Maze, monthly farmers’ market as well as many tea rooms, an artisan bakery, antiques and craft markets, traditional sweet shop, cycle hire and its very own perfumery. Nearby, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises traditional England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antiques shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Also take a visit to the medieval town of Burford for a great day out where you can enjoy a trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are both within easy reach and make a great day out. The spa town of Cheltenham is, architecturally, the most complete Regency town in England with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called The City of Dreaming Spires has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also all within easy reach.
