  • "When we arrived the Rayburn oven and heating was not turned on."

Therefore the cottage was cold. The oven took 3 hours to heat up to allow us to cook our meal, hence we didn't start eating until 8pm. The log fire only had 2 half logs and a small amount of kindling, without any paper to start the fire. We therefore had to go into Moreton to obtain this. There was a bag of logs left outside the property on Saturday when we returned in the afternoon. The back of one of the wooden chairs was broken and came away when lifted - fortunately nobody had sat on it.. The chairs in the kitchen were very uncomfortable in general and the description on the website was not accurate in this regard. The rubbish bin in the kitchen had not been emptied when we arrived. Lack of workspace in kitchen made it difficult to prepare food. Why is there only 1 teaspoon in the property?

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at One Church Cottage. I'm sorry to hear the Rayburn oven wasn't lit for your stay, i can only apologies for this. Our Maintenance Team went in to fix the handle and must have forgot to turn it back on. With regards to the lack of logs and kindling, this is because we only provide logs in Character properties up until March, after this period it's up to guests if they wish to purchase them. Again im sorry if this was not clear. With regards to the chair, this have now been fixed, so thank you for advising us on this and i will arrange for the HK to check the kitchen is equipped with enough of everything for a comfortable stay in the future. Kind regards Character Cottages. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful cottage, very clean and comfortable."

Convenient location and quiet. Unfortunately no internet throughout the stay despite maintenance attending on the second day. No TV at all on first day, second day downstairs TV worked but not upstairs.

Thank you for providing this feedback and we're glad you enjoyed the cottage and location. We're sorry to hear about the internet issues you encountered and have passed on your comments regarding this and the TV reception to maintenance. We hope these didn't impact on your stay. • "There was a problem with the cold water to the shower."

Although this was fixed promptly (thanks) we were unable to use the shower on the first day which made for a rather uncomfortable day that day. Other than that the place was a lovely little 'old charm' cottage in a pleasant location.

Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry to hear you had an issue with the shower that was later resolve and are pleased to hear that the cottage was in a pleasant location. With best wishes Character Cottages Property Owner

The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh lies on the Fosse Way Roman Road in the northern Cotswolds and boasts many elegant 18th century buildings, which are home to traditional inns, serving real ales and home-cooked food, tea rooms, restaurants and individual shops to suit all tastes. It also boasts it's own train station and lies on the intersection of the Paddington rail line from London. The town hosts the Moreton-In-Marsh Show, one of the UK's largest one-day agricultural shows, as well as the Moreton Beer Festival, an annual French Market, and a large outdoor market every Tuesday. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of the town, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way, Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close by. Less than five miles away is Stow-on-the-Wold, the highest town in the Cotswolds. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. Close by is Bourton-on-the-Water, which is known as the Venice of the Cotswolds as the River Windrush runs through the centre. It lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of the most popular Cotswold villages. Also within reach is the spa town of Cheltenham. This town boasts an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, and is famous for its horseracing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within driving distance. A convenient base for exploring the Cotswolds and the wider area.

Note: An initial basket of logs is provided for the woodburning stove and further logs are provided under a fair usage policy (there is an honesty box for contributions towards the cost of additional logs used).

Note: The telephone is for incoming calls only.

Note: Though enclosed, children should be supervised when in the garden as there is a low stone wall at the rear with a drop down into the neighbours’ grounds.
