  • "The Reading Room is a very comfortable and well equipped cottage."

It is easy to live in and everything has been provided for a comfortable stay. Well positioned for exploring the area.

  • "A really quaint cottage in a beautiful and quiet setting, especially this time of year."

Very tastefully decorated and all the utensils you could need. Delicious cake and milk to welcome us. We had a problem with the back door but it was dealt with very promptly. The owners, Alison and Rob are very friendly and Alison texted to give extra instructions on the day we arrived; as I was ill on the Thursday night, so unable to travel until Saturday, she even offered an extra night, which we were unfortunately unable to take advantage of. The cottage is central for a lot of the Forest of Dean attractions. There is a good fish shop and general stores in the village, which we made use of. Excellent place if you want a quiet break. Ideal at this time of year, if you want to experience the beautiful colours in the forest.

  • "Overall, the cottage is well stocked with what you would want and is very comfortable."

It is well situated for exploring the Forest of Dean. the Wye Valley and the Welsh borders. There was a small problem with a leak under the sink but this was dealt with quickly when we mentioned it. Getting out of the parking space was a challenge at weekends but during the week was fine when the neighbours had gone out. WE had an enjoyable week and would recommend this property to anyone. These are suggestions rather than criticisms- 1. Butter dish would be useful. 2. Bread bin too would be good but perhaps there might be space issues.

  • "What a pleasant and comfortable cottage with a lovely garden to relax in to the background noise of the nearby brook."

We also found a delicious cake on our arrival, left by the helpful owners. the cottage has very good facilities apart from the somewhat slow WiFi. A pleasant little park on the banks of the River Wye is less than 5 miniutes walk away.

  • "This was a very clean and comfortable holiday home."

The kitchen was well equipped, the living room was very comfortable and the main bedroom was large and comfortable. Even the garden was tidy! It was a nice touch to for the owner to leave a fruit cake on the table and some milk in the fridge. Only two very small points - there was a lack of storage in the main bedroom and hardly any hangers in the wardrobe.

Thanks for your helpful feedback....we hadn't noticed that the hangers had "disappeared".. we have restocked!!!! Glad you enjoyed the garden.... it's done well considering the lack of water this summer. Property Owner

The river Wye is a couple of minutes walk with access for kayaks etc, past the local pub which serves curries + takeaway, and it's close to Symonds Yat (15 minute drive) and the Forest of Dean (cycle centre 10 minute drive). Lots to do and explore in the area. Recommended!
