  • "The cottage was lovely."

Better than we expected, clean and cosy with everything we needed for a lovely stay. We appreciated the biscuits and milk left for us and also basics like salt and pepper, tea bags and coffee all made a big difference. The duvets were lovely and towels fluffy and soft. The busy road didn’t bother us as double glazing kept most of the noise out and it was good to be within easy reach of local places to visit.

Thank you for leaving feedback. So pleased you had a lovely stay and brilliant to hear it was better than expected. Property Owner

  • "Lovely clean cottage."

A nice touch that they left a chocolate cake and milk, great as we could have a cup of tea as soon as we arrived. Lovely to be so close to Bourton on the Water, nice walk (30mins approx) into the town, which is beautiful, also Lower Slaughter (15mins approx walk). Only a short drive many other villages too. Had a very peaceful week x

Thank you for your feed back I am glad you enjoyed your stay Property Owner

  • "Fosse Cottage has the potential to be a lovely letting, but it is looking very tierd/ shabby & uncared for."

The shower leaked all over the bathroom floor/toilet & without a hand rail it made it very difficult to get in & out. The kitchen cupboards were full of open food as were the tea, coffee & sugar canisters which was very off putting. The garden is very poorly lit, on the plus side it was secure for the dogs & there was a hose to wash them off (but not being able to see what i was doing made it a very difficult task) The flowerbed, decking & lawned area are lovely. Parking the car was very difficult, we just about managed to squeeze into the carport. The beds were comfortable & the sheets were of good quality. The cleanliness of the property needs to be improved, eg cobwebs on lampshade, dusty surfaces, hairgrips left on the floor by previous occupants (which are still there) dog hairs on the back of the sofa behind the cushions, grubby looking seat covers (both in Kitchen & lounge) kitchen needs some TLC. Please if you are going to provide toilet brushes make sure they are clean. The wine & chocolates on arrival was a lovely touch much appreciated, Thank you, but unfortunately we will not be returning or recommending Fosse Cottage.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Foss Cottage. I'm sorry to hear that part of your stay wasn't up to our usual high standards. I will pass on your comments for the owner to review with her Housekeeper. Property Owner

  • "This cottage is lovely."

We had an amazing stay. Had everything we needed. So cosy and lots of home comforts. I read reviews about the traffic noise bothering other people but honestly this did not effect our stay at all. We don't live near a main road so I dod wonder if it would bother us, but it really didn't. We will definitely be staying here again. Perfect location.

Thank you for your feedback. We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you back any time in the future. Property Owner

Lovely place will come back again Only one thing I would suggest is a light above the side gate as its very dark and can’t see anything other than that it is a fabulous place

The owner has done a great job at providing everything you might need. The biscuits, cake and milk were a lovely touch. The noise from the road didn't bother us at all and we still managed to have the windows open, just make sure you're not leaving in a hurry as it can take a little while to get out onto the main road. We would definitely stay again.

Property was a little tired, possibly in need of a lick of paint and carpet cleaning, would like to say we would return because of location and being handy for all the Cotswolds has to offer, unfortunately to close to main road and constant traffic noise day and night

  • "Lovely cottage."

Very clean, well equipped and in a great location for exploring the area. My only criticism is that the garden had not been prepared for guests. The garden furniture was covered in bird droppings and winter dirt and the grass hadn't been cut after the winter. That said we were pleased there was a private, secure and large outside area to enjoy the lovely spring sunshine. We would certainly book the cottage again when visiting the area in the future.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your stay at Fosse Cottage. It's always lovely to hear when our guests have a lovely stay and thank you for your comments, i will pass them onto the owner with regards to getting the grass cut more often and garden furniture wiped down on a weekly basis. We hope to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

  • "Perfect. Very well equipped kitchen ."

Spotless all over. Very clean. Uncomfortable beds in twin room. Beds very narrow. Too narrow for adults. Very hard beds too in twin room. Very tight parking spaces. Traffic noise kept us up every night. Would have been much better in a different location. Contacted owner re play station n how to operate it with DVD’s. All she said was ‘dunno’ ‘dunno’ ‘dunno’. Not helpful at all.

Well maintained and equipped. The road is very busy, as noted in the description, but the back of the cottage is noticeably quieter. Great location for dog walks and visiting The Cotswolds.

About the location

Stow-on-the-Wold 4 miles; Moreton-in-Marsh 8 miles; Chipping Norton 13 miles; Cheltenham 15.5 miles.

Located in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the historic village of Bourton-on-the-Water dates back to Neolithic times with over 100 buildings being Grade II listed or higher. The picturesque high street nestles alongside the River Windrush over which several low stone bridges span, which is why Bourton-on-the-Water is known as the Venice in the Cotswolds. Tradition states that an annual football match is played in the summer, in the River Windrush with the banks lined with spectators, with the aim to score as many goals as possible and get as wet as possible! The village has an eclectic range of visitor attractions, including The Model Village, Cotswold Motor Museum, Birdland Park and Gardens as well as a Dragonfly Maze, monthly farmers’ market as well as many tea rooms, an artisan bakery, antiques and craft markets, traditional sweet shop, cycle hire and its very own perfumery. Nearby, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises traditional England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antiques shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Also take a visit to the medieval town of Burford for a great day out where you can enjoy a trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are both within easy reach and make a great day out. The spa town of Cheltenham is, architecturally, the most complete Regency town in England with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called The City of Dreaming Spires has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also all within easy reach.
