  • "Nice little property and looks just as the photos on the website."

We didn't get much use out of the outside area as it was a cold February week, but it looked nice enough! Pleased to find a selection of biscuits when we arrived, and the owners were very pleasant and easy to deal with.

Very many thanks for your kind feedback, we are delighted you enjoyed your stay in Carriages and the photographs are a true representation of the property. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back, so you can visit the stunning Forest of Dean. Property Owner

  • "Wonderful apartment."

It was clean, beautifully decorated and furnished, with all the facilities you could need. The owner had thoughtfully provided a pint of milk and some, naughty but nice, chocolate biscuits, caramel wafers and (my favourite, how did they know) milk chocolate teacakes. These were very much appreciated, thank you! The quirky garden is delightful and my dog loved having a sniff and mooch around the different areas, the ponds were very tempting though! The views from the apartment are stunning, we could see the steam, and hear, the trains going past the at the bottom of the hill. The stairs leading to the apartment are very steep but the work-out meant the biscuits were well-earned! Might be a nice idea to provide a dog water bowl in the kitchen as there is a mat there anyway, and maybe one less human treat and a dog biccy instead? I'd recommend checking out the steam train timetable and make a day of it. We stopped off at Parkend and enjoyed lunch at the cafe. We didn't have time, but were told The Fountain Inn is a great dog friendly pub, There are plenty of take-aways and supermarkets in Lydney, if you want to stay in. We took a short car journey to Clearwell, we couldn't visit the caves as we had a dog and they seemed to be closed on a Monday, but the village is lovely and we had a delicious afternoon tea at Tudor Farmhouse, a bit pricey but worth it! Note that the castle is a wedding venue so visitors aren't able to go in, but there are some lovely walks around the village.

Wow thank you so much for your wonderful feedback we really appreciate it. Next time you come and visit we will provide you will doggie treats as well. Property Owner

Everything was so clean and the apartment had absolutely everything we could have needed. Elaine and Doug were the perfect hosts, always with a smile on their faces, a friendly greeting and offered some advice on places to go. Half way through the week we needed a change of sheets which Elaine provided within 5 minutes. Our girls (ages 9 & 12) absolutely adored the beautiful gardens. We also enjoyed spotting deer, fox, rabbits and the cows in the field beyond. Thank you, we will be back!

Very many thanks for your lovely feedback, it really means a great deal to us. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay in Carriages at Highbury Coach House. We look forward to welcoming you and your wonderful family back to the beautiful Forest of Dean. Property Owner

  • "First impressions were excellent."

Location, ease of access, views, facilities and cleanliness all good. Sadly there is a BUT, my wife has allergies and her sister is petrified of spiders so finding we were sharing with very many of them was disappointing. Under the twin beds and behind the double headboard and all wardrobes the spiders and cobwebs have made their home and I seriously doubt these areas have been cleaned for months. Therefore instead of scoring a 10 out of 10 and making a repeat visit, we all agreed we could only score a 6. Sorry to say a potentially fantastic break spoiled for the sake of 10 to 20 minutes of extra cleaning.

We thankyou for your feedback and comments, we can ensure you that each apartment is cleaned thoroughly after each visit. I will investigate what when wrong on this occasion. Property Owner

The property has a lovely outlook, ample room for 4 people, but needs some modernisation as it is a bit tired. General cleanliness was ok but some areas needed cleaning as finger marks, the odd hair and some dirt were noticeable. On one inside door it looked like a dog had flicked watery mud over the bottom of the door which I washed down. This said it is a comfortable apartment and we enjoyed our stay very much.
