  • "This is a very clean and we'll equipped cottage and lovely garden in a quiet part of Lydney."

The hosts are very friendly and welcoming. Our only confusion was about the availability of pillows and pillowslips, neither of which are provided so be sure to take your own. Lydney town is not a particularly attractive place but has a convenient railway station with plenty of free parking which we made use of several times. Otherwise there are lots of places to visit within a relatively short drive

Thank you very much for your comments and for taking the time to let us know your thoughts. Customer feedback is very important to help us continually improve our standards. We would like to apologise as we see that you were not informed about the provision of pillows and pillowcases. We have since made an amendment to our website regarding this. Property Owner

  • "Yes. It's a bit optimistic to say the nearest pub and shops is a mile away."

I would say its over a mile and it is downhill across fields to start with then down hill by pavement. Then on the return it's uphill all the way back. however the people were very nice, the property was lovely and of course the area is outstanding.

Thank you for taking the time to fill in the feedback form, its much appreciated. Apologies if you found the walk to the pub longer than you expected, the owner did try to direct you via the shortest route. Unfortunately, due to the property location and the fantastic views, the only downside to its elevated position is when you choose to go exploring and then you then have to climb the small hill to return. We totally think it's worth it though! We are glad you enjoyed your stay at Rodley Manor Retreat and look forward to seeing you again soon. Property Owner

  • "We found the house to be extremely well appointed and comfortable."

We were two couples and the provision of two bathrooms was very important. The location allowed us to explore both Wales and England very easily. There is still lots to explore nearby and, were we to return to this area, we would try and stay here again. We went on the Dean Forest Railway, drove to Tintern, Monmouth and Symonds Yat Rock; took the train from Lydney to Gloucester and to Cardiff (both direct trips); drove to the Cotswolds. Chepstow Castle is well worth a visit too. We were surprised to find bread, butter, milk, eggs and crisps left for us, and fresh flowers too. A nice touch so thank you.

  • "Lovely thought of bread, butter, tea and coffee being left which was much appreciated."

Judy was very welcoming and even offered to take us/pick us up from the local pub if we did not want to drive. Beds very comfortable and loved relaxing on the sofa in the tv area, very comfy. Two double beds in the property so that 2 couples could sleep - some famililies might require two single beds, can't remember if this was mentioned or not. Cream/light colour carpet in the front (tv) room - very lovely (we did not eat or drink anything should anything get spilt etc so maybe worth mentioning for young families)? Lovely too that there were two showers. We only used the downstairs one. The downstairs one would probably be fine for those with mobility problems. Plenty of storage space for clothes etc in the bedrooms. Shops within 5/7 minutes drive from the local shops. A really lovely property and would recommend.
