  • "We had a fabulous few days here."

It’s a wonderfully equipped place with everything you would need for a short stay. The barn is very comfortable , bright and warm. We arrived on a wet and cold afternoon, but the barn was lovely to walk into. The owners very kindly brought us extra kindling and fire lighters, but the weather gods smiled on us and the remainder of our stay was sunny and dry, so we didn’t need to use them. There was a lovely hamper (with dog snacks included) and milk in the fridge on our arrival. The wooded grounds are great for dogs and there are lots of public footpaths nearby. The local pub, which is not far away, serves delicious food and is dog friendly. The owners were really good at keeping in touch by email, just to check that everything was okay on our arrival and were quick to respond to any messages. We would thoroughly recommend Thatchers Barn: the bar has been set high for our next location.

Thanks so much for the kind words it makes all the cleaning and grass cutting worthwhile. Property Owner

  • "Fabulous barn."

So warm and comfortable - love the underfloor heating! We enjoyed the peacefulness of its location, yet its proximity to places like Broadway. Watching all the birds come to feed was addictive- there were so many including 2 pheasants clearing up under the feeder and even several woodpeckers! A deer came just about every morning too. And of course all the squirrels. The barn itself was spotlessly clean and has everything you need for your stay. The jukebox is such a fun addition. Really comfortable bed. There’s plenty of space unlike some holiday accommodation which can feel quite cramped. The boot room makes such a difference especially when you have dogs. We had a wonderful holiday and would definitely return. The welcome pack was very generous - thank you - and the owners are very responsive and helpful.

Very accomadating and friendly owners. The inside of Thatchers Barn looked liked something you see in magazines. Comfortable beds and sofas and very cosy through out especially with the logburner. A generous welcome pack - thank you. The outside space was amazing for my 2 dogs, despite the heavy rain before our week there was lots of places to walk without sinking in mud. Personally a rug in the sitting area would have been welcomed as my 2 little dogs skidded on the tiled floor when trying to stand but that is not a negative comment. There are loads of places to explore in the area and equally nice to relax in the barn. Will definitely look to visit again. Thank you.

Set in the wonderful woods which gave freedom to us and the dog, the barn is well equipped and comfortable. This is a real retreat, away from it all and peaceful. We came to escape the fireworks and albeit a few heard it was hugely better than where we live. Surrounding areas offer plenty to see and do and I would recommend Winchcombe and Ross on Wye especially.

The dogs particularly enjoyed the freedom outside and watching the squirrels and birds from inside on the bird feeder. Such a peaceful and relaxing location we couldn't fault it. • "Lovely quiet surroundings."

Accommodation spacious, basins in both bathrooms are far to small, should only be used in a WC. The cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. The oven, door, shelves & hob lids look as though they have never been cleaned. The baskets in bedroom which are used as draws still had hair & dust in them. The log burner ash tray was full & the door black from use. I have a log burner at home & know there is no excuse for it to be like this. We only used the washing machine once as very noisy, sounded like the bearings were going. The bins were nearly half full on our arrival & the owner was suppose to collect Tuesday night for emptying on Wednesday ( this never happened & by the time we left they were full). Even though we told the owner about the lack of cleanliness nothing was done. Would not stay at Thatchers Barn again for the above reasons. We have stayed in numerous holiday cottages & never had any problems. Considering the cost of the rental charged for this property I was totally disgusted.

Thank you for the feedback I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay in Thatchers Barn. In reply to your comments the bins are always emptied on a Wednesday but as it was a double bank holiday it was a Friday so you would have left when they had to go out. On the point about the cleanliness we have never had any negative remarks before and when dealing with a AGA cooker which has constant heat it is very hard to clean but we will endeavour to do our best . After you highlighted the washing machine fault we arranged a domestic appliances engineer to attend on charge over day and he assured me the bearings and machine was fine after inspection. The point you raised on the log burner ,as you said you have one yourself , all manufactures recommend leaving a bed of ash in the fire as it burns hotter and cleaner and also protecting the stove from the direct heat . As they say all feedback is positive so you now have an idea how wood burners work more efficiently. Property Owner

The only 2 veey small points are the ensuite with the lovely bath could do with having a shower attachment (although there is a shower in the other ensuite).
