  • "We had an amazing stay at the Climbing Rose."

The Cottage was fantastic made extra special with a lovely bottle of wine on arrival. We will definitely be coming to Character Cottages again in the future, our only mention would be that some on the electronics could do with an update but didn’t dampen our experience.

  • "We loved staying in this beautiful quaint cottage in a peaceful picturesque village in the Cotswolds."

The cottage had everything we needed and we were given wine and milk on arrival however it would have been helpful basic cooking essentials such as salt and pepper or oil. The Aga worked beautifully so no issues there. Sally fixed the upstairs TV for us in good time with good communication. The bed was super comfy and there was always hot water. The best bit of this cottage was sitting outside on the patio, which gets sun all day, in the morning with a coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. All in all we were very comfortable staying here for 9 days. Something to bare in mind should if you have a fear of spiders. The spiders were the biggest we’ve ever seen!!! We would recommend the local pub in the village, fantastic food and great service. It took half an hour walk into Stow-on-the-Wold and was within easy reach to many of the classic Cotswolds top attractions.

  • "We had a fantastic mini break for two nights in the Cotswolds."

The cottage was everything we hoped for, a cozy, warm and welcoming place to have a perfect country escape. It had everything you needed for anytime of the year and we even managed to enjoy using the fireplace as we were there in September! Sally was fantastic at communicating throughout the stay and the whole booking process was very smooth from start to finish. We would love to come back again and would definitely recommend.

  • "Just returned back from a long weekend to celebrate a special birthday at this lovely quaint, peaceful country cottage."

It is very well equipped with quality items. Just a short walk to the Horse and Groom pub which was very friendly, welcoming and we had a lovely meal there. A longer walk takes you to Lower Oddington where there is the Fox Inn or just a little but further is the delightful Daylesford Organic Farm Shop which although pricey stocks a variety of lovely eats and treats. The cafe there is amazing and well worth the walk or if your prefer it is just a few minutes by car.

  • "Amazing cottage, couldn't be happier with our stay."

Clean, tidy, well stocked kitchen utensils and a very comfortable bed. Cottage is located a short drive from some excellent Stow, Bourton on the water, the Slaughters. There is also a Horse and Groom pub a 2 min walk away. Would highly recommend a stay here.

  • "The cottage was a perfect base for exploring the area."

It had everything we needed. The Horse and Groom pub is a short walk away. We dined there on our first and last nights of our stay. The village is beautiful and as our holiday was in June, there were roses everywhere. The wood burning stove looked cosy, so we would love to return in the colder months to try it out.

  • "This cottage was warm and cosy and had such a welcoming feel to it."

It was easy to access via key code lock and also the pictures sent on booking for car parking etc. A last minute short break was a real treat. The bed was 5* for comfort. Had everything you needed with it being compact and bijou but would definitely return for another long weekend. Peter Thomas
