  • "We were here to celebrate my husband’s birthday with our adult children and grandchild."

The cottage was perfect, so warm, cosy and comfortable. The cottage was so well equipped it was like home from home, particularly the kitchen, it had everything. The garden was very pretty, it would be perfect for summer months. Tastefully decorated, with the decor making it feel like a home and not a holiday let. I would have no hesitation in recommending Copperbeech, and would certainly stay here again if in the area. The only small downside was the parking, as we were there the weekend and it was very busy. Having said that we did manage to park in the street, but would be hesitant to go out for the day incase we couldn’t re park the cars. However, Stow on the Wold has everything you need with plenty of shops, pubs and cafes. A lovely weekend was had by all.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback which is much appreciated. We're delighted that you and your family enjoyed your celebration at Copperbeech. The Cotswolds is so popular but usually spaces can be found in Stow - hopefully this didn't impact your stay. We look forward to welcoming you again. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "This was a lovely cottage."

They managed to keep the historical nature of the home while having all the modern updates and conveniences. It was comfortable and classic. The location is terrific for exploring Stow on the Wold on foot and a short drive to many other charming Costwolds towns. The parking was easy. We ended up having two cars and were able to park one out front and the other in the convenient and inexpensive car park. A perfect place to enjoy our holiday. We didn't use the backyard due to the weather, but imagine it would be lovely to sit and have tea or a drink in warmer weather. One thing to note is there are no soaps or shampoos for the bathrooms provided. We had brought our own, but for the price would expect at least some bar soap and small shampoos. Also, due to the steep and winding nature of the stairs and the heaviness of our suitcases, we ended up not carrying them up the stairs and only took up to the bedroom areas what we needed during our stay.

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide this feedback. We're delighted you loved the cottage and also the surrounding area. We would love to welcome you again - maybe when the weather is warmer! Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

In one week I can only pick up on two small requests: Firstly to make sure there is some kindling wood to light the Log Burner, and maybe a few spare toilet rolls available? Terrific stay for all four of us, and we look forward to coming back one day.

  • "We had a lovely stay in Copperbeech, the house was delightful."

We did have an issue with flies, and bought several fly strips which solved the problem. It didn’t spoil our stay at all. The neighbour at the back seemed to have a pile of compost against the wall and we did wonder if that was the problem. It was reduced during our stay, but we kept windows and doors closed as much as possible. This is a comment, not a complaint, but thought the owners might need to be aware.

Thank you for your feedback and for making us aware of this. We have asked housekeeping to check this on the next change-over. Best wishes, Character Cottages Property Owner

  • "Copperbeech is a great cottage."

Very close to the centre of the town, warm, cosy, clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped with everything that we need, the house was spacious and clean with a cute enclosed garden at the back. The service we received from the property management company was great. The only improvement I would recommend is putting a small coffee machine in the kitchen, so that guests don't need to go out early in the morning to buy coffee. I would definitely recommend Copperbeech cottage!

Thank you for the wonderful recommendation! We're delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Copperbeech, we'd love to welcome you back, especially as there is now a nespresso coffee machine in the kitchen. Best wishes, Character Cottages Property Owner

As soon as I saw the Red wine glasses hanging up I knew I’d chosen wisely. Very cosy & very comfortable. Could easily live there. Stow is always beautiful but in the snow is picture postcard perfect. Restaurants & shops a stones throw away & for me it is a perfect Christmassy location.

About the location

STOW-ON-THE-WOLD

Bourton-on-the-Water 4 miles; Stratford upon Avon 15 miles.

The highest town in the Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises olde worlde England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly Farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antique shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of Stow, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way, Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close to the town. Bourton-on-the-Water, known as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds' as the River Windrush runs through the centre, lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of the most popular Cotswold villages. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are all within easy reach and make a great day out. Cheltenham (20 miles away) is, architecturally, the most complete regency town in England. A spa town with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse-racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. At other times of year, it is host to literature, jazz, classical music, science and food and drink festivals. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called 'The City of Dreaming Spires’ has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within easy reach, making Stow-on-the-Wold an ideal base.
