This has been by far the best and we will not be looking for anywhere else to stay. Beautifully furnished, superbly equipped and very clean. The location is great and 5 minutes from central Stow. Many thanks to Kieran and also thanks to Ella. PS already booked for 2024!!

Great location. Had all equipment required for a short break. Not a complaint but a suggestion, quilts need to be a bit heavier for winter months. Also the towels provided were a bit small for use after a shower. Overall satisfied with our stay.. Would have no hesitation to return or recommend.

Thank you for providing this feedback. We're glad you enjoyed your break at Headford Cottage and loved the location too. We have passed on your suggestions to the Property Manager so thank you for these. We hope to welcome you again soon. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

The cottage was very clean & comfortable and provided a very homely feel. The facilities provided were excellent. The only disappointing aspect of the the cottage for us were the kitchen unit doors which were chipped & worn in places - this was in contrast to the rest of the cottage’s decor which was very well presented. that said, we have no hesitation in recommending the cottage and will hopefully return for a second visit sometime in the future..

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Headford Cottage. It's lovely to hear the cottage really worked for you and as you mention, it's in a really wonderful location to access everything. We would love to welcome you back again in the future. (not their fault, but we didn't want to get in trouble!) The cottage was lovely and perfect for 2 couples (I imagine it would be a tight fit for more than 4 adults, despite 3 bedrooms). The garden was perfect for enjoying the weather - and the landscaping! (we Americans spent so much of our trip trying to figure out what we could grow at home) The location was fantastic - great parking, so much within walking distance in Stow on the Wold, and so central for other sites in the Cotswolds. We loved our stay!

We loved the powerfull shower and the parking is a bonus. The beds are really good. A pity everyday from 07.30h the concrete mixer was turned on at the building site 10 meter from the cottage; after they finished working at 16.00h it was lovely to sit in the garden. Hopefully they finish the building soon, because then it is a great spot to stay. The chairs in the diningroom are really at the end of their live and the cooker also needs updating (otherwise it would be 5 star)

Thank you for the feedback, we appreciate your comments. Apologies if the building work had an impact on your stay. Pleased that you otherwise enjoyed the cottage. Property Owner

It was well maintained and very clean and had everything we could have asked for. The mattresses were a little uncomfortable and the beds noisy but we're fine for our stay. The house would benefit from curtains or a black out blind in the front bedroom as the security lights on the garages shine through the current blind. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it was the best equipped, well presented and well positioned cottages we have ever stayed in.

  • "Very good local information and user guides provided by the owner."

The property is in an excellent location with good facilities. The only negatives were the dining chairs were too low for the table and we found the beds rather uncomfortable. Despite being assured by Character Cottages and Sykes that the building work was nearing completion, we felt rather misled as the house under construction behind, was only at bedroom height and the builders working on the scaffolding were level with Headford Cottage's bedroom windows.

It is very much appreciated that you took the time to provide us with your feedback. We are glad to hear that you found the information provided for the area useful, and we can only apologise for the disturbances you experienced due to the building work. Sadly, external work on neighbouring properties or areas is something we cannot control, and we try to find out as much information as we can in order to best advice our guests. As it was nearing completion, we expect that it would still have been ongoing to an extent, but not as disruptive as it may have previously been. We hope that you would stay at Headford Cottage one day in the future and we wish you all the best. Many thanks, Character Cottages Property Owner

We particularly appreciated the 2 bathrooms and downstairs toilet as one of the party has bladder problems. We also appreciated the 2 parking spaces as we came in 2 cars. The location was great and we walked into the centre very quickly. The house was well equipped - dishwasher, washer etc were all great. Only thing I couldn’t find was a bread bin! Hope the houses being built at the back don’t spoil the privacy as we enjoyed sitting out so much.

About the location

STOW-ON-THE-WOLD

Bourton-on-the-Water 4 miles; Stratford upon Avon 15 miles.

The highest town in the Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises olde worlde England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly Farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antique shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of Stow, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way, Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close to the town. Bourton-on-the-Water, known as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds' as the River Windrush runs through the centre, lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of the most popular Cotswold villages. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are all within easy reach and make a great day out. Cheltenham (20 miles away) is, architecturally, the most complete regency town in England. A spa town with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse-racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. At other times of year, it is host to literature, jazz, classical music, science and food and drink festivals. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called 'The City of Dreaming Spires’ has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within easy reach, making Stow-on-the-Wold an ideal base.
