  • "99% excellent all round, small areas for enhancement, dimmable lights in lounge area, very bright lights, either more, brighter, 'lamps' in this area or dimmable lights, also foam pillows /duvet option for those allergic to feathers."

Thank you for your excellent feedback and your suggestions, which we have passed onto the owner. The lounge has small candle bulbs in various lovely wall fittings, the owner will have a look at the wattage on these, and there are some lovely side table lamps which can be used if guests should wish a cosier feel to the room. An alternative option is offered to the luxury feather bedding, if guests could let the owner know before they arrive, the housekeeper can be requested to make up the necessary beds. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "The cottage was beautiful with lovely decor."

It was very conveniently situated for all of the other villages and attractions. The owners have gone to a lot of trouble to think of everything you might need to make your stay comfortable. If you have allergies to feathers it’s worth noting that all the bedding and cushions are feather I bought hypoallergenic bedding for myself. It is very highly perfumed with lots of diffusers which while smelling lovely might be an issue for perfume allergy sufferers and probably won’t affect most people but it did affect me. I worked around this and it did not spoil the stay at all. I would highly recommend this cottage.

  • "Lavender Cottage is a beautiful, tastefully decorated cottage."

Perfect position in the lower end of the street to all the amenities. Fantastic place to stay to discover the heart of the Cotswolds. Slightly disappointed that the right up for the cottage mentioned ‘enjoying a Barbecue in the garden’ to find out it was not allowed especially as we had fabulous weather. Had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend.

It made for so many good memories of our 3 night stay. Enjoyed inside and back patio. It is decorated like pages of a decorator magazine. Would have loved to stayed longer.

  • "The property itself is very smart, nicely decorated and in a good location in Stow on the Wold."

We had booked this particular cottage as we saw it had a good sized garden and a BBQ in 3 of the pictures, which was a real selling point and as the weather was looking good we spent £90 on food for a BBQ. On arrival I asked how we could access the BBQ and was told an agreement was made with neighbours not to allow guests to BBQ so we wouldn’t be allowed. This really tainted our stay here as nothing had been said in advance and the pictures advertising the property were very misleading. This would put me off staying here again

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Lavender Cottage. It's lovely to hear you liked the cottage and setting, it's a really good location to be based to explore the Cotswolds. I'm sorry you where not able to BBQ at the property and will look to get these images removed. We don't actually state a bbq is at the property in the listing, but i can understand this could be confusing, so thank you for your feedback. Kind regards Character Cottages. Property Owner

The only issue we had was that the valve to the radiator in the kitchen appeared to be broken so the kitchen was chilly. The rest of the house was lovely and warm.

Thank you for the wonderful feedback, we are so pleased that you had a great stay at Lavender Cottage. We have followed up with the property manager to ensure that the kitchen radiator is fixed. We look forward to welcoming you again. Best wishes, Character Cottages Property Owner

Bedrooms are a little tight to manoeuvre around but the living space is wonderful. Really nice garden area which I imagine is great in summer. Microwave was faulty and could have done with bigger frying pans / saucepans when cooking. Would stay again.

The whole property and garden was finished to such a high standard. From the kitchen and equipment, to the cosy sofas and high-end TV. To the comfy beds, glorious bathrooms and robes provided. About the location

STOW-ON-THE-WOLD

Bourton-on-the-Water 4 miles; Stratford upon Avon 15 miles.

The highest town in the Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises olde worlde England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly Farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antique shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of Stow, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way, Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close to the town. Bourton-on-the-Water, known as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds' as the River Windrush runs through the centre, lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of the most popular Cotswold villages. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are all within easy reach and make a great day out. Cheltenham (20 miles away) is, architecturally, the most complete regency town in England. A spa town with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse-racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. At other times of year, it is host to literature, jazz, classical music, science and food and drink festivals. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called 'The City of Dreaming Spires’ has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within easy reach, making Stow-on-the-Wold an ideal base.
