  • "The cottage was clean and well equipped and we enjoyed a comfortable stay."

    It is very well located in a lovely village which offers everything you need. On arrival we discovered there was no Internet and after telephoning the local contact we were contacted by Sykes Cottages who offered us a 10% discount as compensation. The internet was reconnected shortly after but was so slow as to be almost impossible to use. We had to rely on the local coffee shop who had free WIFI to use the internet. We also had water dripping on us in bed from the small skylight window above which stained the pillow. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were really happy that we were in easy reach of all the local must see places.

    Thank you for your feedback, we have noted the points you have raised. As the wifi had been down it can take a little while for the usual speed to resume, so we apologise for that. We have someone looking at both bedroom sky light windows and replacing the seals which may have perished to avoid any more drips coming in. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "A very lovely stay and high quality of fitments made everything very comfortable."

    The pillows were particularly comfortable! The double stairs would always be a bit of a challenge for anyone who might be disabled, but I'm sure this is made clear in the description. The directions about how to reach the Cottage however are not accurate. Stable Cottage sits opposite a road sign which says College Row but the description talks about the Cottage being on the left of this one way road, road rather than the right so a minor tweak on that front would help late arrivals like ourselves! Thanks

    Thank you for your feedback. We do try and be as descriptive as possible about the lay out of the cottage to inform any one who is not able bodied that this may be challenging. We will look at our wording and also the directions again to see how we can better these. Property Owner

  • "This little property has been nicely renovated in a contemporary yet cosy fashion."

    It's not a large cottage so I think it would have been a tight squeeze for four adults, but for two of us and the dog it was great. Lounge was great with its comfortable sofa and one of the largest TVs we have had in a cottage. Wifi was fine. Appliances all worked well in the kitchen. Plenty of hot water for baths and showers. Towels were large and fluffy. A blind was missing in the larger bedroom, so expect to get woken by sunlight the moment the sun rises. Also, the instructions for putting out the rubbish and recycling weren't correct. We were told to put both rubbish and recycling in a bin marked "SC". However, there wasn't a bin marked "SC". Every other cottage we have stayed at has had either an exterior bin for recycling or some kind of container within the property. I feel it's important to recycle to protect our children and grandchildren's futures, so I would appreciate total confidence that recycling is actually being recycled rather than just being thrown away.

    Thank you for your feedback. We have since fitted a black out covering for part of the bedroom window to help in blocking out the sunlight first thing in the morning. It is a very old velux window so we are trying to find a bespoke fitted one as we speak. We have also painted our SC bin which I can assure you is separated and recycled where needed. Many thanks. • "Lovely cottage, well set out and decorated."

    The village is lovely. It is a very quiet location except for the church clock ideal for any campanophiles. There is parking just around the corner on the street, which was good. Given that it is a small property surprised that it wasn’t as clean as it could be. Happy to say that there was no smell of dog though. Most areas though still had some crumbs, dirt, dust, cobwebs or hairs. A blind was missing from the larger bedroom. I’m also not that keen on the large storage for towels in the middle of the room. It is not a large room so this seems a strange idea. The toilet seat is a bit wobbly. Surprised that this hasn’t been noticed and repaired. In summary, it is in a great location and a well decorated cottage but in need of some minor repairs and a bit more cleaning.

    Thank you for taking the time to write feedback. I can assure you the toilet seat has been replaced since and is much more secure. There is now a blackout covering on part of the bedroom window which helps greatly with the sunlight first thing in the morning. The window is a very old velux window and we are in the process currently of getting a bespoke blind made. The cleaning areas have been addressed but being an older cottage, the odd cobweb and dust is not unexpected. I do hope if you revisit you would see a difference. Many thanks Property Owner

About the location

NORTHLEACH

Bourton on the water 5.5 miles; Stow-on-the-wold 9.1 miles;

Northleach is just off the Roman road, the Fosse Way (A429) 8 miles north-east of Cirencester and 10 miles south-west of Stow-on-the-Wold, and about 7 miles from Burford - making it an excellent place to travel from if you're looking to visit these popular and attractive places. Northleach was at one time an important market town, celebrated throughout Europe as a major centre for the Cotswold wool trade! The fifteenth-century church of St Peter and St Paul, paid for by the wealthy wool merchants, was built with stone dug from the quarry in the town itself and what is now the Market Square. More recently the village has been used in a number of recent films, including the Casual Vacancy of 2015.
