  • "Property was excellent, addition of a grill pan in the oven would be useful."

Perhaps be helpful to include in property description that approach is narrow with very few passing places and not suitable for low clearance cars due to speed humps.

Thank you for your valued response and input. I have purchased a baking tray and placed in the oven. The agent writes the description of the property, so I will ask them to note the Lane to guests. The Lane is used for several houses and walkers, so it can only be approached in a careful manner. On exit from the property, Pull ins along the Lane- 1/ To the left verge after first hump. 2/ To the left, by the two cottages. 3/ To the left- opposite the allotment. 4/ To the left grass verge before the top of the Lane. There shouldn’t be any problems with height of vehicles as tractors & four wheel drive vehicles are able to access the Lane. It was lovely to meet you both the other week at the cottage, you really made it warm and cosy in there. Property Owner

  • "A spacious, well equipped cottage in a peaceful location close to Bourton on the Water."

The beds were comfortable with crisp white bedding and everywhere was spotlessly clean. Huge garden and lots of outside space. Would definitely stay again.

Thank you for your feedback. All very encouraging. I am pleased you both had a great holiday.. Look forward to seeing you both again. Property Owner

  • "This is a really lovely property with plenty of space and a large garden."

It was also great to be able to walk into Bourton easily and not to have to take the car. The only very small negatives are that there is no television in the snug as advertised and the main lounge area is very bare. Some rugs and more pictures would make it much more cosy, especially in the winter. However, these are very minor issues and we would definitely happily return there. The welcome pack and toiletries were very generous and much appreciated. It is a perfect property for a dog and it would be great if the owner would reconsider this option.

I will take your suggestions and implement a larger rug in the lounge, and two more pictures onto the lounge walls in October. (Some pictures & a smaller rug, already exist). At present dogs are not permitted as I’m not sure how many people have booked this cottage due to the aspect of ‘no dogs’. I will keep this on my list for reviewing. Thank you. Property Owner

  • "Spotless. The owner and cleaning staff do a wonderful job."

A visitor's book would be handy as would a suggestion's book. As the owner mentioned she has only been renting out the property for a few months but well done. A welcome pack of bread, butter and basic essentials ( for breakfast the next day) would be good especially for people who travel a long way. Spoke to the owner and she did take on board the extra things needed in the property also a towel rail in the kitchen where the bins are at present and then move the bins to near the rear exit door under the worktop. Just a thought. Otherwise such a quiet place to unwind.

Thank you for your valued comments. The breakfast welcome pack I will look at and discuss with the agent. I could resource one, if requested, at an additional cost. I provide tea, coffee, sugar sachets, milk in the fridge and a cake or flapjacks. Complementary toiletry sets in the bathroom. The bin & recycling bin- I have repositioned nearer the door. The installation of a kitchen towel rail has been done and a guest book supplied. Thank you Property Owner

  • "The furniture throughout was excellent."

The kitchen and all in it was first class. Cleanliness was incredible. The owner, who lives next door, was lovely and just what you'd expect: always on hand without intrusion. I left a note of one or two fine tweaks that would make it better as this apparently a " work in progress". Overall an excellent remote, quiet, superior place to chill out

Wow! Many thanks Ray. I’m so pleased you all had a lovely holiday and I have taken on board your ideas. Great, thank you. You suggested a bathroom shelf- this has been installed and chest of drawers in the en-suite room. Property Owner

  • "Great size accommodation for family of 4, loads of room plus the big garden."

We had a lovely 3 night break perfectly suitable with our 5 & 2 year olds and would stay again. Next door from the friendly owners in a completely separate plot. Thanks for coming round to install the stair gate on arrival. Only a gentle 3 minute drive into centre of town in a really peaceful and private location. I understand it’s a new listing but we didn’t find any teething issues present, things we noted on a different review (E.g. Wi-Fi, potholes, shower) are resolved.

So pleased you and your family enjoyed your stay. Thank you. Property Owner

  • "A lovely immaculate spacious , clean, well equiped cottage, perfect for two couples with two very comfy double beds."

Judy, the owner was very welcoming. The cottage is in a lovely quiet location down a single track country lane, near some large fishing lakes and lots of walks on your doorstep. There is a lovely 15 minute walk into the village. We visited Birdland and the Motor museum in the village and would definitely recommend them both. The Duke of Wellington (to the left of the motor museum) became our local and we had a fantastic dining experience at Maxi's in the tepee (behind the Dial house). A visit to the Slaughters is also a must. We were lucky with the weather for our weeks stay which made it a perfect holiday and will definitely consider coming back to Field View Cottage again.

  • "The location of this property is perfect for exploring Burton-on-the-Water without having to drive anywhere."

We didn't want to drive out much due to the potholes on the private road to get to the property so wouldn't recommend to anyone with a low riding car. The owners had fresh flowers on the table and made us up a welcome basket with your usual tea/coffee etc. And the most delicious flapjack! One of the reasons I booked was for the smart TV and washing machine, it was nice to be able to sit and watch a movie in the evenings and wash our clothes (as this was our second week away from home and had washing to do from the first week) I also like that there was a vanity table in our room so I could sit and get ready in the morning. The shower was good water pressure and water temp however it was really hard to turn on and off and was constantly dripping. The property felt bare, in an unfinished kind of way, not a minimalist way. Our biggest issues was the beds, they look lovely but they were small doubles, not standard and even as small people we struggled to comfortably share the bed. I very much enjoyed being able to have a relaxing bath, but the window was not frosted and I could see the property next door, it does have a blind, but this made it tricky to open the window or put things on the windowsill Overall I would not stay here again as someone who likes a lot of luxury. But it is a decent property in a fantastic location.

Thank you for your personal opinion of Field View Cottage. We aim is to keep this cottage pristine, maintained and of quality. I can only apologise to you if you didn’t like a few things, however had you notified us/ Sykes, we could have rectified your concerns. Thank you for your opinion on the cottage being decent and in a fantastic location. Thank you you enjoyed the smart tv whilst doing your washing. Thank you for your opinion in that you enjoyed the flapjacks/welcome pack/flowers. You enjoyed the shower water pressure, the hot water and the dressing table. I have taken your constructive opinion to rectify the following- The beds are of quality(The Cotswold Company) they have informed me, the beds are Standard Doubles and not small doubles. The Shower- the thermostat bar has been replaced and this no longer drips, it is easy to turn off. The Lane - the pot holes have been filled in. Luxury- this is all subjective to personal opinion, the furniture is all good quality. Thank you once again for your constructive response. Property Owner

  • "The property is amazing; comfortable, spotlessly clean, just beautiful and welcoming."

We really loved our stay for the week. I would have given it 5 stars for everything except that the internet wasn't working for the whole week. I had work to do so this caused me a huge problem. We told the owner who came round and tried to fix it more than once and she said she phoned someone to come and fix it. But, even by the 7th day, it still wasn't working.

Thank you for your response. As you have stated I did respond and tried everything to get the Wi-Fi fixed. Some things are out of our control. The engineers have now sourced the problem to the cable and the Wi-Fi is working. Judy Property Owner

About the location

BOURTON-ON-THE-WATER

Stow-on-the-Wold 4 miles; Moreton-in-Marsh 8 miles; Chipping Norton 13 miles; Cheltenham 15.5 miles.

Located in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the historic village of Bourton-on-the-Water dates back to Neolithic times with over 100 buildings being Grade II listed or higher. The picturesque high street nestles alongside the River Windrush over which several low stone bridges span, which is why Bourton-on-the-Water is known as the Venice in the Cotswolds. Tradition states that an annual football match is played in the summer, in the River Windrush with the banks lined with spectators, with the aim to score as many goals as possible and get as wet as possible! The village has an eclectic range of visitor attractions, including The Model Village, Cotswold Motor Museum, Birdland Park and Gardens as well as a Dragonfly Maze, monthly farmers’ market as well as many tea rooms, an artisan bakery, antiques and craft markets, traditional sweet shop, cycle hire and its very own perfumery. Nearby, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises traditional England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antiques shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Also take a visit to the medieval town of Burford for a great day out where you can enjoy a trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are both within easy reach and make a great day out. The spa town of Cheltenham is, architecturally, the most complete Regency town in England with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called The City of Dreaming Spires has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also all within easy reach.
