  • "Sykes and Habitat Escapes did not give consistent information on arrival and departure times, but, other than that, faultless."

The postcode took us to the construction-site entrance, not the main entrance, so we initially could not follow the instructions on how to reach our house, as it was from the wrong starting point.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a feedback, we are delighted you enjoyed your stay despite the issues you faced. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful house, lovely location."

Only slight downside was the shortage of lounge seating. The house catered for 4 couples & 2 children but there weren't enough comfy seats for us all, the beanbags were very low on filling & not comfortable. More armchairs/larger sofa would be much better.

  • "The house was dirty, fly and spider infested, had a dining chair we could not use as leg was broken and a wardrobe with a shelf full of broken equipment."

May I suggest throwing it out and replacing it? I could go on..... and on. I actually removed all the cobwebs and dead flies and spiders from the living area myself. I actually met the housekeeping team on arrival as they had not completed their job. They were surly! I felt very let down having paid a high price for a special event family holiday. Such a shame as Lower Mill Estate is beautiful with great facilities. Will anyone pay any attention to this comment and offer some compensation? I very much doubt it.

  • "The holiday experience was just what my family needed."

Your resort offered the right amount of relaxation or activity as the individual wanted to be involved in. What went well • The staff in Balliho were friendly and very professional. There were times that they were overwhelmed by the sheer number of customers but they dealt with all in a calm and friendly manner. • Chandler one of the pool attendants was very helpful and pleasant throughout our stay. He is a credit to your organisation. • Apart from the issues that we reported to housekeeping (wobbly dining chair, dirty pots, scratch mark on the wooden floor) the accommodation was lovely. Each of the large rooms having its own balcony was fantastic. Being able to see the fish and birds swimming up to the lower balcony was magical and the sunset in the evenings were enchanting. Things that need improvement • On first arriving at the spa to request information on the treatments for myself and my daughters, the receptionist was unfriendly and dismissive. Therefore we did not book any treatments at a loss of over £300 to your company. • The steam room was not working throughout our visit. • More comfortable seating/couch area. This was meant to be a villa for 10 people but 10 would not have been able to sit comfortably together • More spa passes per household. One of our group had to wait over an hour to be let into the spa, as she did not have one of the passes. • Recycling bins need to be clearly marked with which items go where • There was inconsistent messaging regarding taking inflatables into the pool. This was not sited on your website nor in the spa building itself. The manager was quiet rude when telling my children they could not be used.

  • "The directions from the main entrance to number 30 Howells Mere were not clear and all of our party and other guests we noticed along the way were confused too."

Awoke to no hot water so had to use the boost switch on the boiler a couple of times. The Spa itself was beautiful and pool area good but found the staff on reception to be unaware of people waiting to pay - had to wait ages before anyone attended to my needs. Also spent a long time waiting to be checked in for my foot scrub - 2 people looking at computer trying to sort out a cancellation appointment. Having commented above on a few negative issues, our family really enjoyed the weekend. Location was great, very natural habitat and we especially enjoyed the carp, mallards etc which we watched from our balconies. House furnishings were good quality and loved the split level aspect enabling each level access to well furnished balconies. Many thanks

The property

Woodlark is a wonderful lakeside house located in the heart of the Howells Mere, overlooking the lake and in our opinion, an excellent choice for families and groups.

Built to sleep 10 people in 5 bedrooms (plus 4 bathrooms), the property is immaculately presented with the bedrooms on the ground and first floor the top floor is given over to the kitchen-dining-living area which has fabulous views across the lake, plus a terrace - of course!!

Outside you're surrounded by a peaceful set up, ideal for cycling around (or walking), Nature Trails and many other lakes to enjoy there is also the nearby restaurant/bar about 5 mins walk away which serves food and drinks, and then there is indoor pool and Spa - a true treat for all and available all year round for guests.

If you would like to visit a classic village pub, then about 15 mins walk away is one of Somerford village.

In short you've got everything here!!

A great choice.
