  • "This is the best holiday let we have ever had over 60 years experience."

Peter and Carol are superb hosts, and the setting of their property is second to none. We shall definitely be returning to the peace and tranquility, the friend ship of mine hosts, and the enjoyment of reading Peter’ novels. The bungalow is beautiful, well appointed, and lacks for nothing. The Crows Nest is a wonderful place to take a glass of wine and enjoy the scenery. The walks around the property are great too.

    Mrs ClaySep 2021

  • "The hosts were fantastically welcoming."

A nice, quiet and very relaxing stay!

    Dr WhittleAug 2021

  • "Highly recommend this cottage for excellent access to the southern Cotswolds and beyond."

Secluded position, close to Cheltenham. Beautiful and tranquil location with delightful hosts. Everything had been thought of for comfort, and Carol provided a delicious home baked loaf warm on the kitchen table for our arrival. Local eateries were lovely including The Waypoint at Painswick Golf Club for excellent food.

    Mrs MackenzieAug 2021

  • "Lakeside cottage is in an idyllic location."

The cottage has everything that you need for a peaceful holiday, including lots of helpful information about the surrounding area, left by the owners. Talking of the owners, Carol & Peter are also on hand to meet and greet you and are wonderful hosts, without being in any way obtrusive (they live in their own house close by to the cottage). The scenery is stunning, overlooking the trout lakes and the woodland. The quintessential English flora and fauna are right on your doorstep, with deer literally feeding under our bedroom window at one point! Plenty to see and do in the local area and a little further afield. We loved it. Thank you Carol & Peter.

  • "Lakeside is a fantastic holiday destination for a get away with the peace and tranquillity needed after a stressful year."

Peter and Carol are fantastic hosts and make you feel very welcome. The barn itself is of top quality and it is brilliantly located next to the Cotswold countryside - it's isolated location, the Crow's Nest and views are definitely it's selling points. If I was to critique this holiday destination, EBI there were more space to store groceries. And, you will need a car if you are not actively mobile. I do not like leaving positive reviews as it makes it harder for us to rebook should we wish to come back, but we had a fantastic week and did not want to leave. Thank you Peter and Carol, we already miss our glasses of wine and chats whilst looking across at the deer, rabbits and foxes from the Crow's nest.

  • "Lovely cottage in very peaceful and picturesque surroundings."

Tasty loaf of home-baked bread was waiting for us along with a pint of milk, plus tea and coffee in the cupboard. We organised for Waitrose to deliver groceries on the evening we arrived, which arrived promptly. Great to be able to park under cover with plenty of space. Wide selection of DVDs and books available in the cottage. Lots of walking available on the doorstep - through the woods or up on the common. Convenient for Painswick, Stroud, Gloucester and Cheltenham. We had a very comfortable and pleasant stay.

  • "This cottage was in the perfect location and was everything we wanted."

It was clean, comfortable and every need had been thought of. Carol and Peter are lovely hosts with Peter even baking us a delicious date and walnut loaf! The crows nest is such a lovely place to sit and contemplate whilst watching wildlife and having a drink or two. We would love to return.

    Mrs LennonJun 2021

  • "Cottage was fabulous."

Extremely comfortable and situated in a beautiful, tranquil setting. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Perfect place to explore the surrounding countryside and relax by the fishing lakes.

    Mrs CairnsMay 2021

  • "We had a lovely time in this cottage."

Very clean and comfortable with everything you could need. The impact of coronavirus meant that we were the first guests of 2020, so a big thanks to owners Peter and Carol for allowing our stay to go ahead - excellent hosts, accessible but not obtrusive. A unique setting with exceptional privacy and seclusion and with some lovely walks from the doorstep and within the immediate vicinity. Each bedroom has a lovely en-suite (actually full bathrooms) and plenty of cupboard / wardrobe space. We were out and about most days but the highlight of each day was returning to the cottage for a glass of wine on the Crow’s Nest followed by a cosy evening in front of the woodburner. Lovely.

    Mrs HoughtonAug 2020

  • "Very tranquil setting in scenic, deep valley."

Car needed. House immaculately clean and organised with every possible facility and clear notes. Good sense of space (literal and metaphorical). Hosts provided warm baked bread on arrival and left milk in the fridge. Nearby woods are lovely and the area is an SSI. If one wishes to venture out there are lots of places to visit including characterful pubs. November can be dreary but the heating was generous and we were very cosy.

    Mrs WoodinNov 2019

    Mrs Nightingale

  • "Carol and Peter were great hosts and made a sincere effort to accommodate our needs and feel at home in the cottage, which is set at the end of the road in a quiet and very picturesque vale."

Though we arrived very late in the evening Carol and Peter had put a loaf on the kitchen table and left milk and butter in the fridge in case we were hungry. They then appeared appropriately early the next morning to welcome us and give advice on what to do around Cranham and nearby sights. We could have spend days in the cottage, enjoying the quiet of the forrest literally just outside the window or enjoying the many great walks in the area, but we decided to split our time between the cottage and driving around the Cotswolds, which the cottage turned out to be a perfect base for.\ Thank you, Peter L, July 2016

The cottage is very comfortable and the surroundings are very beautiful. The owners Carol and Peter were so helpful, it was above and beyond what was needed - thank you to both of them. The very best thing for me was the peace and quiet. Sitting out in the sunshine, not being able to hear any traffic was bliss! I treasure my memories of a truly peaceful place.

    Mr Vanacker

  • "The location, the scenery, the hospitality and the cleanliness of the accommodation were excellent."

There was nothing to dislike. The only room we didn't use was the dining room, we much preferred to look out onto the scenery from the kitchen table.

  • "I would give top marks to everything about this property."

We absolutely loved it and would recommend without any hesitation. It gets a 5 on all scores on your survey. I really cannot think of anything that would have improved the cottage as it was so well equipped with very comfortable beds and furniture and the setting was stunning. The weather was not good and so most nights we had a roaring fire (June) and it was very cozy. Every evening we we were lucky to see the badgers literally outside the front door and one night had a red fox come for a visit as well.\ \ \ The owners of the cottage, Carol and Peter went over and above the call of duty in making sure we had everything we needed and I can't say enough about their hospitality. We were welcomed with a lovely fruit cake and loaf of homemade bread.\ \ \ Please feel free to use my phone or email for anyone who is thinking of staying here.

    Mrs Yancey
