We loved sitting in the garden in the morning and evening watching the birds, sheep and donkeys. The cottage is very comfortable and the hot tub is wonderful! Tina is an excellent host.

  • "After months of lockdown, this was the perfect break."

Lovely peaceful , beautiful part of England. Scenery out of this world. Fir cottage was very well equipped, Tina, our host couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly, and the welcome pack she gave us was wonderful … milk in the fridge, fresh fruit, and super biscuits . The use of the sauna and hot tub was over and above what one usually expects when renting a cottage, and was the icing on the cake ! We highly recommend Fir Cottage. Thank you Tina and Sykes.

  • "The hostess and owner, Tina, was attentive to every detail, providing a lovely welcome pack and greeted us in person."

The setting is beautiful, so tranquil and peaceful with woodlands and fields all around. Sitting on the small patio at any time of the day it was lovely just to relax and listen to the birds singing and watch the two donkeys playing in the field adjoining the garden. The hot tub and sauna were of excellent quality, no problems with functionality and easy to use. The hot tub has bluetooth sound system built in, which you can pair up to your smart phone for that extra 'home from home' feeling. Tina ensured that the cabin, which houses the hot tub, sauna, shower and toilet, was cleaned every night after use. There's a lovely local walk through the countryside to Devil's Pulpit, from which you can enjoy a very picturesque view looking down on Tintern Abbey. A good base from which to travel further afield, should you desire. No dishwasher, but that was a small price to pay! A lovely week, would certainly recommend and would be happy to book again. The communications from Tina and Sykes Cottages were brilliant too, right from the point of booking up to post-holiday feedback. Not too much, not too little.

  • "Had a wonderful stay at fir cottage."

Tina was very accommodating, unfortunately the hot tub didnt work the first two days, and although we were only staying for 3 nights Tina went above and beyond to ensure it was fixed by the final night, which was actually a perfect end to our stay. We probably wouldn’t of had time to use it everyday anyway, but we are so grateful we got to use it by the end! They have a quality set up for their hot tub and sauna. I wish we had the chance to stay longer. They have very beautiful grounds around the property and you can even watch their horses run and play with each other from the window. We were on the border of Wales which you can actually pop across to Chepstow and have brunch in Wales! A lovely village with beautiful views. We also visited Gloucester city as it was our first time in the area, there was so much to see. We would love to return in the summer and have a longer stay. The cottage had everything you need! Including puzzles board games and knitting incase you just like to stay in and enjoy the peace. Wonderful cottage, highly recommended. Thank you Tina!

"Relax and unwind" he said - so we did! The whole break was great for mind, body and soul. Tina and Bob are excellent hosts and the cottage has everything you need with extra lovely touches such as fresh flowers, bowl of fruit and a very enjoyable box of biscuits. The log burner was even laid so that you just needed to light with a match and watch it go! The gardens are a delight to wander around or to just sit in and admire the surroundings with a cup of tea or a gin and tonic. I have to say though that my favourite spot was in the spa hot tub - heavenly!!!
