  • "Great cottage, owner very helpful."

Church nearby and beautiful countryside walks. Easy access, by car, from Tetbury.

    Mr PotvinOct 2021

  • "Fabulous cottage and location."

Great facilities very comfortable apart from sofas.

    Mrs SawyerSep 2021

  • "Lovely cottage - really comfortable and clean."

Nice touch with welcome croissants and biscuits. Would have given 5 stars for facilities except that the clothes drier was broken - and I needed somewhere to hang my washing. Texted owner to ask to borrow a drier but didn’t get a reply. If I had to recommend an improvement I’d say the garden gate could be extended out a bit to enlarge the garden. There was a stretch of grass down the side of the house beyond the gate which tantalisingly got the evening sun, whereas the garden was in complete shade because of a large tree. In the description, a picture of the garden would have been helpful. Other than those two small points, we had a really comfortable stay.

  • "Fabulous holiday home in a pretty location and village."

Very friendly owner and a lovely place to unwind and explore the delights of the Cotswolds. Only criticism would be that the sofa in the lounge was very uncomfortable and could probably do with replacing but otherwise the Henhouse is exceptional.

  • "The Henhouse was an amazing find."

The welcome pack was much appreciated and Lucy made us feel very welcome. In a house for 4 people it was incredibly well stocked with additional cutlery and crockery. Beds were comfortable and the en suite shower rooms were top notch. The only comment I’d make - and this is a suggestion not a complaint - a shower rack/caddy would be appreciated. Mixing old people and bending over in a shower to pick up soap/shampoo isn’t ideal. We would definitely recommend this property and if we returned to the Cotswolds we wouldn’t hesitate to book the Henhouse again.

  • "Very peaceful and comfortable."

Wonderful Pub/Restaurant at the end of the road, and a very short drive to many other interesting places. Owner very friendly and helpful. Will certainly look to return to this house in the future.

  • "Lovely property in beautiful rural setting, very comfortable and homely."

Lots of beautiful and interesting places to visit close by Just a little criticism would be lack of pillow protectors on some pillows, not good in these weird times. Only one hand towel per couple, two bath towels though but would have far preferred bath sheets, being a bit picky here. There was also some dust in various areas indicating not a thorough cleaning routine possibly, again wouldn’t bother normally but due to Covid 19 liked to think everyone is taking extra measures. On arrival the freezer needed defrosting before we could open any of the drawers but the “owner” called into say hello and was very apologetic and handed over a bottle of wine to compensate. We would definitely return to this lovely, peaceful cottage.

  • "Beautiful cottage in endless grounds with goats, ponies, chickens and pigs."

The Henhouse has privacy and a dog friendly secure garden. Charming owner. High end facilities indoors and a juice, milk, cake and biscuits welcome pack. No bath but top-notch showers. Lovely walks straight from the door. Quiet village, pity the pub at the end of the lane was shut. We have booked again for next year.....

  • "Found the cottage to be just what we're looking for, quiet, spacious and well equipped."

Only one thing let it down for us and that was the cleanliness of the oven which put us of using it.

The property

Welcome to the village of Shipton Moyne - a bit like Dibley from the famous TV show: beautiful, traditional and every inch your quintessential English village.

Impossibly ancient houses and cottages, smart, well-tended gardens, a thriving village community and one of the best named pubs in the land too (and it serves fine food too).

Your holiday cottage, gorgeously named The Henhouse is a joy of a place to stay.

Renovated completely from top to tail where space is a-plenty and extra details have been added for comfort, in fact you are are in for a treat.

You walk straight into a swish kitchen where you are greeted by smart, pale units all under a granite surface, a heated flagstone floor beneath your feet and sweet views to the old henhouse (!!) where there are a small selection of fancy chickens, a few goats and some Shetland ponies, friendly neighbours over the fence of your garden.

There's all you need to whip up a storm in the kitchen, and a traditional oak dining table too.

Walk through to your living room with ample seating, a wood burning stove in fact all is very cosy thanks to underfloor heating.

Upstairs are two good sized bedrooms each with village views and each with ensuite showers, so no need to share here....

Outside is a good sized garden area with table and chairs.

We just loved the property and the location where there is plenty to do, if you want to, or where you can just play in and around the village in true peace!

Stunning.

About the location

TETBURY

Cirencester 10 miles.

Tetbury retains a wealth of character within its ancient streets. The town’s origins date back to 681, but it was during the Middle Ages that it flourished as one of the major markets for The Cotswold wool trade. Nowadays The Market Hall is still home to a busy general market every Wednesday, whilst the town as a whole is something of a mecca for antique hunters with several shops in the town and regular fairs in the vicinity. Closeby is the Forestry Commission’s Westonbirt Arboretum, one of the largest collections of rare shrubs and trees in Europe, whilst further afield (but still within easy driving distance) are the elegant Regency cities of Bath and Cheltenham, Shakespeare’s Stratford and other attractions such as the internationally renowned Slimbridge Wildfowl Trust.
