"On arrival, the place was freezing cold and the fridge did not work."
The hot water was cold. Every time we turn the heating up after about 25 minutes to an hour. It was turned back down. This was the same every day. Also the cooking trays were very poor condition and the cooker had a great crack across one of the plates, I was very disappointed with this and I would not recommend it to anybody The boss round the edges was all mouldy. I was hoping to have a nice break because me and my wife work a hectic schedules but after three days we gave up and come home because downstairs was so cold we actually sat in our coat one day.

"Unfortunately this cottage is in a position that does not suit a holiday break."
No proper parking, had to move car 3 times, bin lorry delivery vehicle & car.
Standing from the front door the view & state of the houses looked like a traveler camp.
One guy knocked at the door a d asked us if we got and old removal rubbish.
Around Bath moulding, water not hot enough for a bath.

"I enjoyed my stay."
The cottage was within easy reach of local attractions. I had no problems with parking. Whilst I was there the engineers worked on the external Internet connection, so no problems there either. The neighbours were very friendly. The scenery around Ruardean is lovely. There is a playground near the church where the dog can have a run.

"We had a lovely stay in the cottage."
It was the perfect size for two people and a small dog and a great location to get to all the different parts of the Forest of Dean. Really comfy bed and sofa, everything we needed was supplied, all the appliances we needed and the cottage was clean. TV was a bit of a luxury for us as we don’t have one at home and we had no issues with it not working. The dog bed and treats were a lovely addition to make our dog extra comfy.
As others have said, the WiFi is very patchy and no signal so just be prepared and pre-download maps etc. The parking was fine once we got the hang of where we could park - although it would be tricky with a big car, we were fine with a super mini.
Only thing I would suggest would be updating the listing re pub and shop. The shop had closed down and the pub, well, we had a lovely time reading the terrible reviews on Google and did go to peer through the windows, but it probably isn’t a pub anyone could or would want to visit. Plenty of other pubs in the area though - I’d recommend the White Hart in Staunton.

"Thanks for the stay."
Unfortunately the TV worked only intermittently, as did the internet. It would be better to have more than one (flat) pillow each. with fewer cushions. The cooker needs replacing as the top is broken as do the beds because one falls into the central hollow. Perhaps an electric fire should be provided as the electric heating kept reverting to a low temperature- the thermometer in the room usually read 15-16deg C. Other visitors commented on the lack of parking which makes unloading difficult. Nevertheless it was a quiet area , suitably relaxing.

"This was a lovely stay and appreciated the milk and biscuits on arrival."
This was a very cozy cottage and a lovely quiet area. There was a formative document informing of the area and what to do. Some information will need to be updated. The country side was beautiful and plenty of areas to go like the the Goodrich castle, where the volunteer guide was amazing and has such an in-depth knowledge. Other walks like Simonds Yat- which was good. Ross on Wye- great day out there and great to go back to the cottage to chill out afterwards.

"Enjoyed our stay, and the Christmas decorations were a lovely touch."
A couple of things could be updated though , such as the cooker, as the glass hob has a large crack through one corner and oven temperature indicator light is pushed in. Also, shower is quite poor, although there is sufficient water pressure through the taps!
Otherwise, loved the cottage and cosy living room, and would recommend .
Not too far from Black Mountains in Wales, as well as Wye Valley, for the walkers out there.

The twin beds were very narrow- I actually fell out of mine and the internet was slow but the rest of the stay was great and I would recommend Jessamine Cottage as good value for money.

"We had a wonderful time, the location was perfectly situated in the middle of everywhere we wanted to go."
The property was comfortable and very clean and tidy. We very much appreciated the biscuits and milk in the fridge, and our dog enjoyed the special dog biscuits too! We didn't have one complaint. Thank you.

"Please note my feedback is based on a three week stay (we had a delay before moving to our new home) some of the issues would not affect a short break."
On the positive side- the cottage is well positioned for walking/activities in the Wye Valley/Forest of Dean.It is cosy, clean and well appointed. The TV is very good with Netflix/Amazon etc..There is a good sized fridge/freezer. The wifi is reliable but slow. Bathroom is nice but there is no shaver/toothbrush socket. Owner is friendly and helpful.
However...here is no phone signal whatsoever at the cottage- you have to rely on Wifi calling, which proved unreliable.
The lack of parking is mentioned in the listing but, it proved quite an issue with the neighbours leaving notes on the car when we parked (perfectly legally) down the road.
You will need to bring the basics- there is no welcome pack (milk etc)

"The cottage was just what we needed, a proper escape from the hustle and bustle."
The dog treats and basket were a lovely touch as were the cookies and milk for us.
The village is very quiet and parking can be tricky but the neighbours are all very friendly - we only needed to park 50 yards away one night - the rest of the time we could see the car from the window.
We ate at the cottage most nights (the kitchen is well equipped) but also had meals out in Symonds Yat and Monmouth. Long bath with plenty of hot water was appreciated after the walking and the sofa and tv were perfect for relaxing.
The birdsong as I lay in bed reading in the morning, with the windows open, was uplifting and so so relaxing.
Check out OS map OL14 to see how well connected the village is - we walked at Symonds Yat and also visited the Forest a few times - Sculpture trail was a great walk and next time I'm booking afternoon tea at the SpeechHouse hotel for a treat!

"A charming small cottage very warm and cosy."
There is no allocated parking so it means parking against a wall a little way from the cottage. It was always possible to find a space. There is no garden and only a small seated area outside. My dog and I found some fields down a footpath very near the cottage which was really convenient until the farmer moved cattle into it the second day of our stay. We were very comfortable and there was loads of hot water.

The cottage is cosy and would recommend to friends unfortunately parking was an issue the lane is busy with private owners coming and going plus there visitors so most days after returning to the cottage there was no space to park without obstructing the lane also some cleaning products would be good left in cottage for use and a bigger door mat inside front door to help keep the carpet dry and clean we had a very wet week so was trying to keep floor dry was a problem
